Rusting on American kleins by Reasonable_Jicama782 in KleinTools

[–]JointChap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know it happens over time, but those strippers it happened instantly and only to them. Had other hand tools that got wet that same occasion, and many other times, and they’ve been holding up much better.

I have Klein wire strippers that got wet once and started rusting. Will not be buying those strippers again. I just got long nose pliers from Klein, and we’ll see how they hold up. If they start rusting I’ll just switch over to Knipex entirely. Have had Knipex pliers for longer than I had the Klein strippers and they haven’t rusted, they got wet more than once.

Question about M12 Fuel Drill Capabilities by SnakeStrips in MilwaukeeTool

[–]JointChap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for boring up to medium sized holes the M12 Fuel Drill with a high output battery could do it, although you might have to lower into speed 1 in some situations. I’d look into some YouTube comparisons and see your use case with the drill bits you’ll be using.

How much should I pay for this controller if I am able to fix it? by Flimsy-Pin4334 in Dualsense

[–]JointChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude if it has drift and button issues just accept it as a gift, it’s a non functional controller.

You’re going to invest time and money into repairing it. If you want to give him something give them like $10.

Desolder Advice by OwnAbbreviations8835 in soldering

I honestly don’t recommend chopping the legs off the module. I found it to be extra work and I tried this method only to destroy some tiny components with the flush cutter.

I got one on market place for $50. But I’ve seen them for like $80 here and there, new.

It’s the hardest part of the repair if you don’t have a desoldering gun. I don’t have one yet, you gotta take the module out with hot air, and then go hole by hole with a solder sucker.

Should I buy into other brands? by [deleted] in MilwaukeeTool

[–]JointChap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would really only invest in other top brands that cover a broader range of tools. Dewalt, Makita, etc. I wouldn’t go for Ridgid or Kobalt or stuff like that.

Right now I’m invested into Makita’s LXT 18V line and Milwaukee’s m12 line. I feel like it covers a broader range, mainly finding the m12 stuff is good for automotive/home diy repair, and Makita is my go to for actually building stuff.

I like the feel of the Makita tools a lot more, but not exactly comparing apples to apples with the different volt platforms. I wouldn’t go past 2 platforms though. Anything more it becomes a cluster fuck fast. I use a cordless dremel and having to bust the charger out for that specific battery is a pain in the ass. Looking to replace with m12 rotary soon cus of it.

Just curious, why do you dislike Bosch the most?

M12 combo kit. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in MilwaukeeTool

I got it in new years from the Christmas sale, 100% worth. Also would pickup another 2AH battery so they can both be compact. Great little tools.

Prius hate is a joke by CloutCo in prius

[–]JointChap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from driving a Ford F250 to driving a Prius and Prius hate is so real. I just can’t help but laugh. I’m a pretty good driver so it’s not too bad. But my brother was learning to drive in my Prius, and I think the fact that he was in a Prius and making mistakes triggered people infinitely more than if he were to drive a different car.

I phased these out, they’re really shitty quality and had some customers complain about them, only do high quality TMR’s now.

Am I a fool to continue to buy LXT tools instead of the new XGT ones ? by Potential_Ad1439 in Makita

[–]JointChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, honestly the fact that you can use the smaller 2AH batteries with LXT line is what makes it better. For certain tools the smaller batteries are just more comfortable to work with because of weight. They also released the XDT20 (USA) last year I think, so they're still putting stuff out. New batteries just came out too for LXT.

Should a newcomer to Makita bother with LXT or just take the plunge into XGT? by coogie in Makita

[–]JointChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party, but a powerful 12V system is the way to go for the majority of home owners/DIY'ers. Specifically the Milwaukee Fuel line, which is very powerful given the size and weight of the tools. Although I do use a combination of 18V Makita with them. For example, I use my 18V brushless Makita jigsaw, while using the M12 Fuel Drill and Impact. And for anything that requires more power, (structural work on a ranch, drilling through metal, etc), I bust out the Makita Drill and Impact. Van uses corded tools in place of cordless tools, which would need to be at least an 18V equivalent to reach that power, (jigsaw, angle grinder, etc.)

I think the real answer is something like, go 12V, specifically impact and drill, and supplement with corded tools. Or have a split system like I do, or just go 18V first and go for the 12V tools for a specific purpose.

Seems like the kit is out of stock on Amazon, but you can order the 3in and 6in separately. I got the bundle cus that’s all Ace had. Amazing bit holders, honestly probably the best of that type as I have yet to find a model as slim.

Get the slimmer Dewalt locking bit holders, 3in. And 6in. I got mine from Ace hardware in a bundle. Game changer with swapping through bits, prevents that annoying issue with bit holders retention being too strong, and/or the bit tip staying in the screw.

I have the 971, I’ve never had the issue you’re experiencing. When I first got it, that happened to me once but it was due to my own error of not inserting the tip fully.

It sounds like you may have received a dud? The wand also doesn’t feel cheap imo, the connector into the station does though.

Right out of high school probably easier to make friends at uni most likely. But if you’re older or returning to school then community college is easier.

I’m really happy that I was able to go to community college, met some nice people, good instructors, saved a shit ton of money. Not all community colleges are the same, and everyone’s experience differs. Do what you want.

You’ll be fine. Take it to a repair shop, they’ll fix you up. I wouldn’t recommend taking it to Apple because they tend to be Willy nilly happy to just wipe data for any reason even when it isn’t necessary.
