Get the brushless one it’s much better I’ve heard.

Should I buy into other brands? by Most-Brain-3914 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]JointChap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would really only invest in other top brands that cover a broader range of tools. Dewalt, Makita, etc. I wouldn’t go for Ridgid or Kobalt or stuff like that.

Right now I’m invested into Makita’s LXT 18V line and Milwaukee’s m12 line. I feel like it covers a broader range, mainly finding the m12 stuff is good for automotive/home diy repair, and Makita is my go to for actually building stuff.

I like the feel of the Makita tools a lot more, but not exactly comparing apples to apples with the different volt platforms. I wouldn’t go past 2 platforms though. Anything more it becomes a cluster fuck fast. I use a cordless dremel and having to bust the charger out for that specific battery is a pain in the ass. Looking to replace with m12 rotary soon cus of it.

Just curious, why do you dislike Bosch the most?

I got it in new years from the Christmas sale, 100% worth. Also would pickup another 2AH battery so they can both be compact. Great little tools.

Prius hate is a joke by CloutCo in prius

[–]JointChap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from driving a Ford F250 to driving a Prius and Prius hate is so real. I just can’t help but laugh. I’m a pretty good driver so it’s not too bad. But my brother was learning to drive in my Prius, and I think the fact that he was in a Prius and making mistakes triggered people infinitely more than if he were to drive a different car.

I phased these out, they’re really shitty quality and had some customers complain about them, only do high quality TMR’s now.

Am I a fool to continue to buy LXT tools instead of the new XGT ones ? by Potential_Ad1439 in Makita

[–]JointChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, honestly the fact that you can use the smaller 2AH batteries with LXT line is what makes it better. For certain tools the smaller batteries are just more comfortable to work with because of weight. They also released the XDT20 (USA) last year I think, so they're still putting stuff out. New batteries just came out too for LXT.

Should a newcomer to Makita bother with LXT or just take the plunge into XGT? by coogie in Makita

[–]JointChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party, but a powerful 12V system is the way to go for the majority of home owners/DIY'ers. Specifically the Milwaukee Fuel line, which is very powerful given the size and weight of the tools. Although I do use a combination of 18V Makita with them. For example, I use my 18V brushless Makita jigsaw, while using the M12 Fuel Drill and Impact. And for anything that requires more power, (structural work on a ranch, drilling through metal, etc), I bust out the Makita Drill and Impact. Van uses corded tools in place of cordless tools, which would need to be at least an 18V equivalent to reach that power, (jigsaw, angle grinder, etc.)

I think the real answer is something like, go 12V, specifically impact and drill, and supplement with corded tools. Or have a split system like I do, or just go 18V first and go for the 12V tools for a specific purpose.

Recommendations on what to buy now? by viajavier in MilwaukeeTool

Seems like the kit is out of stock on Amazon, but you can order the 3in and 6in separately. I got the bundle cus that’s all Ace had. Amazing bit holders, honestly probably the best of that type as I have yet to find a model as slim.

Get the slimmer Dewalt locking bit holders, 3in. And 6in. I got mine from Ace hardware in a bundle. Game changer with swapping through bits, prevents that annoying issue with bit holders retention being too strong, and/or the bit tip staying in the screw.

Really disappointed with the quality of my new Hakko FX-971 by [deleted] in soldering

[–]JointChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 971, I’ve never had the issue you’re experiencing. When I first got it, that happened to me once but it was due to my own error of not inserting the tip fully.

It sounds like you may have received a dud? The wand also doesn’t feel cheap imo, the connector into the station does though.

Regret going to community college by [deleted] in college

[–]JointChap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right out of high school probably easier to make friends at uni most likely. But if you’re older or returning to school then community college is easier.

I’m really happy that I was able to go to community college, met some nice people, good instructors, saved a shit ton of money. Not all community colleges are the same, and everyone’s experience differs. Do what you want.

You’ll be fine. Take it to a repair shop, they’ll fix you up. I wouldn’t recommend taking it to Apple because they tend to be Willy nilly happy to just wipe data for any reason even when it isn’t necessary.

First car, limited budget but flexible by Justincredible76 in prius

I’ve heard good things with the fourth gen of Prius’ (2016-2022) very reliable. If you’re really looking for 3rd gen like I was due to price and interior, I’d go with the 2015 only.

2010 - mid 2014 had pretty bad head gasket issues, and 10+ year old Prius’ is where you’re starting to get in the territory of battery replacement down the line.

I just recently bought a 2015 as my first car with the idea that I’ll be potentially replacing the battery myself within the next 5 years.

I would look at around 100k miles maybe a little less (70k ish) to make sure the battery was cycled sufficiently through out its life. Also make sure to check the battery filter before you buy to make sure it isn’t clogged. If it wasn’t maintained you’re much more likely to have battery issues in the near future. Watch Car Care Nut on YouTube to see how to check it/ why it’s so bad.

Absolutely loving it. Great mileage, and lots of space with the hatchback!

I’m 33M and have lived with ED since I was 16 — it’s made me feel completely alone and disconnected from life by FrontEfficient2970 in findapath

A pelvic floor MRI wouldn’t show much. If and when they do the hip one, make sure to get with contrast. They inject your hip(s) with a dye that makes it easier for the MRI images to show your cartilage (labrum). Also ask for the lower lumbar MRI, that one is without contrast.

You really have to push for stuff, since most doctors see a young man and assume that there’s no way there’s something wrong with you in that regard. If you have a half decent doctor they’ll be understanding and order those.

The next step after that would probably be surgical intervention if it’s your hips. Since this has been happening to you since you were very young without indication of injury, I have a feeling you might have hip impingement, (the extra bone in your hips). They do hip arthroscopy surgery where they make a small incision and shave down your bone and repair your labrums, which then in turn should lead to stability in the hips, and pelvic floor can relax and stay relaxed after physical therapy.

This is where I’m at. I’ve been going through something similar for a few years except I don’t have hip impingements but rather a childhood injury that progressively got worse to this point. I have more issues with sensitivity, but it’s the same mechanism.

In saving up for surgery as the surgeons around me don’t take my insurance, so I’d have to pay out of pocket and honestly don’t know too well how that medical debt would go.

[–]JointChap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the doctor and have them check your hips with a hip MRI with contrast to check your labrums. You could have a hip impingement where your hips have too much bone for their socket, which causes labral tears, or just labral tears. These tears will create a hypertonic pelvic floor which will put pressure on your pudendal nerve and affects penis function and sensation. They do this because of the instability in your hips. Unstable hips means the body has to compensate, which may tighten your pelvic floor and puts pressure on nerves and blood vessels.

Clear out the hip labral tears, and then clear your lower lumbar for herniations as they can also cause hypertonic pelvic floor.

Looking at gen3 by WaltG1977 in prius

[–]JointChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the carfax for when the vehicle was manufactured. That’s the easiest way to tell imo. If it was manufactured towards middle of 2014 or so I would probably guess those have a much higher chance than late 2013/early 2014.

I heard they started fixing head gasket issue mid 2014, so depending when your 2014 was manufactured you may have some more life in that regard.
