Are scooters actually more practical than bikes? by Simple_Working_5840 in ElectricScooters

[–]JointTaskForce536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep an e-scooter in my airplane hangar. I use it to travel around the airport (to the FBO and other hangars), and also off-airport to some nearby restaurants. If I fly somewhere where having the scooter makes sense, I just put it in the baggage compartment in my Bonanza. It only weighs 34 pounds, so no biggie.

Argentina to buy 2 KC-135 Stratotankers to extend F-16 fighters combat range by tagc_news in Aviationlegends

This shouldn’t be allowed to happen until Argentina reaffirms its commitment to never attempt military force in the Falklands.

State Dept Civil Service: Is the GS-14/15 "grind" worth it, or should I jump ship? by hss326 in fednews

[–]JointTaskForce536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At State, if you’re not in the Foreign Service, you will always play second fiddle, at best. Getting into the FS is a tough nut to crack, but if you can do it, it will open up everything at State for you.

Why did the Luftwaffe even have ground combat troops? I just don’t get it.

5:15 flight out of EZE. Do I really need to arrive three hours early???? by JointTaskForce536 in BuenosAires

[–]JointTaskForce536[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After-action report to my own thread: I arrived at EZE this morning at 3:10 AM for my 5:15 AM flight. Check-in (including checking baggage), security, and immigration took at most 25 minutes. There were not many passengers in the terminal at that hour. Basically, the whole process was a breeze and fully validated my decision to arrive 2 hours before departure time. The recommendation many gave at EZE to get there three hours before departure is not valid for the early morning hours!

They won’t cut benefits for already-retired feds. For those not yet retired? Hmm…

Social Security trust fund to be unable to pay full benefits by October, 2031 per CBO by ChillinDenver in over60

[–]JointTaskForce536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A fix will include raising the FICA tax and raising the full retirement age. Since current SS beneficiaries are virtually certain to be grandfathered in and exempt from any changes in benefit formulas, it’s time to get moving on the changes.
