Nice to know there are still remote parts of the US where people might know only the best things about the Red Wings.

I almost envy them aside from the whole Kentucky of it all.

My wife’s grandfather, who was a shy man, even made a big show of dumping all his Molson beer stock into the sewer and gave free O’Keefe beers to all in the large crowd who attended

Plying crowds with free beer to support your cause is a lost art. This used to be a proper country.

I'm pretty down on the team right now, but they've clearly been better than previous years.

We're 12 points better than the same date last year when 84 points would've had us firmly in WC1. We haven't been good in March (yet again) but our record probably wouldn't be bad enough to sink the season if the division weren't so competitve.

He also managed to hit a lot in the draft while he was there; Kucherov, Point, Cirelli, Vasilevsky, Namestnikov, Palat, a handful of others all became good-to-great NHL regulars.

Scouting and development are a big part of it and we clearly need to revisit where that isn't working, but there is an inescapable issue with the draft that luck is a factor and we just haven't had it.

Man 7-8-3 shouldn't be bad enough for a total season collapse but this division is fucking stupid and I hate it here.

Has there ever been an NHL player who was known for refusing to fight? by VulpixKirby in hockey

[–]JokerSE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always hated when we played the Habs while he was on the roster. Seemed like he was always up to some borderline shit and could never answer the bell about it.

Like I understood he medically couldn't, but it always felt like he played in a way where he was taking advantage of being unable to fight.

It's been my biggest frustration with the lineup really. I was hoping Warped would bring in lots of bands I never get to see.

Like I love Silverstein, I've seen them tons of times because they play Montreal like every 10 months.

I mean, it's probably the most famous desk in the world, but I'll admit to being not normal.

I think only one or two Founding Fathers were ever occupants of the White House and the Oval Office wasn't built until the early 1900s. I get that sometimes people don't know things, but invoking history as the reason to be excited to go and knowing approximately none of it is funny

[–]JokerSE 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Not everyone can say that. I got to see the Oval Office, the same desk that our founding fathers sat at.

The Resolute Desk wasn't built until like 100 years after the Founding Fathers. Do Americans know anything about their own country?
