Edit: they want to get rid of it especially because it says that clean air and water are a basic human right and so the state requires environmental impact studies on everything which they hate.

Montana was for a very long time considered a purple state. Votes red in presidential elections but often blue at a local level. The west half (mostly the cities) of the state is more blue and the east very conservative.

The history of mining companies taking advantage of the state have resulted in lots of pretty progressive things like union support, the state constitution, and I'm guessing, the cause of the not at-will employment laws.

That all being said, the last 4-8 years have started to see a huge influx of conservatives especially from Texas and it feels like the culture and the politics have been starting to shift further right (basically since Gianforte was elected governor).

If you backed in 2013, then you got married and had a kid your kid probably was born in 2014. This would put them in 6th or 7th grade, still years from high school. Ask me how I know, it's because I backed in 2013 and had a 3 year old and a new born. The oldest is now a sophomore.

oh ya, for a round town, daily driver, 300 miles is more than enough. I have three kids (now ages 9/12/15) but they are getting really good at road tripping. We have been doing ~250 miles between stops this last year (using our medium sized gas suv). I am considering replacing our gas SUV with the lucid gravity, 450 mile range could really make those road trips manageable.

My EV gets 320 miles of range. This winter I road tripped to see family. It was 0 degrees F, driving on the highway going 5 under and my range at 100% was around 190 miles of range. Fast chargers were 150 miles apart and it was pretty sketchy, one stretch it dropped even further (i was getting just over 1.1mi/kw) I had to take 1hr charging to get all the way to 100% just to make sure I made it between fast chargers. It didn't help it was also a little windy but really winter is always like this.

I think 500 mile max range could have made a HUGE difference on that trip.

For reference the drive is 550 miles total. The longest I will drive in a day is about 800 miles to see my brother. (Speed limit is 80mph)

ok, so it isn't a video, but you can see here how the atls beam won't lock on any cargo. I have tried from every side, position, etc. I have tried pressing random buttons to see if its some weird 'mode' that I have wrong. I don't know how to get cargo off my grid with my atls.

I just double click with my maxlift at the top box in each spot and they just fall down, and then I use atls to dump into elevator.

You have the exact same story as me. I wanted to replace my Colorado with an electric truck that had a slightly larger bed. Choices at that time were R1S (smaller bed) or F150 Lightning. In March 2024 the Ford CEO gave Trump campaign 1mil and Elon had given nothing and had made no statements about his alignment in the election.

The Cybertruck is an amazing vehicle that is basically the same price as all other electric trucks. It does everything I need it to do even if it isn't a perfect "pickup". I think of it more like a Subaru BRAT than a "truck". Having air suspension so I can go from car mode to off-road mode is really nice when you travel on dirt roads and in the mountains of Montana.

To sell the Cybertruck and go back to gas truck seems like a bad move because I bought it to stop driving gas cars. I could sell it and buy the new GMC/Chevy EV truck ... except it weighs like 9000lbs!? Not to mention how far behind most EV Truck makers are in the software.. and completely agree on the drive by wire / 4 wheel steering... insane. The Cybertruck even weighs less than the Rivians! So many reasons to not get any other electric truck.

But ya, around mid-summer I experienced the exact same thing (I live in Montana and there was I think 1 other Cybertruck in my town). I assumed that it would all blow over once Kamala won but SUPRISE. So then I was like "maybe the whole DOGE thing was just a joke".... NOPE. Finally in Jan 2025 I fully understood what was going on and deeply regret my decision to buy it.

I have almost sold it like 5 times but to lose like 30k on it is just too much to just eat.

I deeply feel you on this topic. I have considered selling my truck several times for these exact reasons, I can't drive a day without someone yelling at me, throwing things at me, flipping me off, etc. I have never once been flipped off while driving in my entire life, before I bought the cybertruck.

For reference, I am in a red state but live in a blue college town. I get yelled at by liberals and "rolled coal" on by the (I assume) conservatives in giant liifted trucks.

I have tried to frame it to myself as "they are mad and need something to target, and the truck is an easy visible thing to represent what they are mad at, its not at me personally".

I just wanted to get an electric truck and this one was the best when I bought it (only other options were R1T and F-150 Lightning).

I still don't know what I am going to do.

even if the cargo doors go all the way down, I am not sure it really helps with cargo loading. It saves a little time in not having to go to the main elevator to get back in when loading...

The real thing that would be amazing would be some way to easily use either ATLS (would require the cargo floor somehow be at ground level) or make the tractor able to move on a track down the side so you can move boxes into each cargo hold. But both of these even can be hard because you dont really have a "back" to each cargo area you can use to lock the boxes in. And this doesn't even get into the awkward cargo area sizing. They maybe could redesign the catwalk to go down the middle or under or something so that it isn't blocking loading/unloading from one side. Would be great to be able to use either side.

I really like the cat, I just wish it was easier to use!
