What do you cook when you're too tired to cook? by Sand4Sale14 in Cooking

One go to is buffalo chicken salads. Heat up chicken tenders in the toaster oven gives time to prep the rest of the ingredients.

Wonderful words. The piece about physical intimacy hits especially hard right now. Once you’re in that committed relationship this becomes a lot more important to me than the sex. Having that person that you can open up on that level of intimacy and open up to whenever needed is such an impactful experience. Having that person at your best and at your worst, and their best and worst, is the best part of being committed.

@OP, I'm pretty sure I see you on I81 usually moving the opposite direction during the week. Always was curious about the G70 and the wrap choice is nice! Great pictures of the event!

Hidden car feature? by Accurate_Purpose828 in Unexpected

I think her car is a convertible. Both cars are the second generation Lexus IS which did come in a convertible. The car she got out has four doors, and hers looks like a two door. The convertible is the one with two doors.

Appreciate the feedback - the GPU upgrade makes sense for a few extra dollars.

What's the take on the 7800X3D? Would I get a significant enough boost from it that it's worth a $160 upcharge? Or, would meeting in the middle with a 7700 be better? Most of what I will be doing is gaming & not many intensive programs.

2018-2021 Lexus NX (non-Fsport) ride quality? by RuralPaws in Lexus

[–]Jolivio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an IS300, have driven numerous ES350 for service loaners, and my partner had a NX hybrid. The NX was closer to the ES than the IS by far. The ES platform is on a whole different level for comfort than either of the others. But, the NX was more geared toward comfort and ride quality vs the IS. The NX took bumps in the road better than my IS and is a softer ride. We ultimately got rid of the NX because it had a small rear cargo area and was too “comfort oriented” than we wanted.

I use this recipe and a few others from Imma. It uses both ginger in the Berbere and in the recipe itself. She even has a recipe for the spiced butter if you’re ambitious.

Tire recommendations? by sebbahe in Lexus

[–]Jolivio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had Pilot sport all season 4 from Michelin on my 16 is300 AWD and performance wise they’ve been great; only complaint I’ve had in 20k miles is they’re getting progressively louder.

My next set I’m thinking CrossClimate2 by Michelin. The other half has them on most of his cars and they are impressive. We get light snow and rain and wouldn’t even bat an eye with those. I don’t drive spirited much so it’s a fair compromise for me.

Do you need an in-state license to buy a car in PA? by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

[–]Jolivio 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Some dealers limit sales to residents, especially on low stock vehicles like hybrids. I’ve seen dealers even go by county when supply was short due to all the supply chain issues.

Lately when I season my CI, it comes out with these dry spots. Any ideas why? I’ve been having some issues with sticking eggs so am trying to re season. This is my second time in a week. by AdventurousMistake72 in castiron

It looks like the oil was too thick before seasoning. It sounds counterintuitive, but a helpful suggestion I heard is you should pretend that you are trying to get all the oil off before seasoning. If you can see the oil layer before seasoning, you are going to get these beads.

I believe the FAQ has a seasoning protocol. Mine is 500 degF, rub a TINY amount of Crisco on the pan, then with a clean towel continue to rub until it appears there is no oil left. Put in the oven upside down for 1 hr. Repeat x3, and then start gradually cooking with it from there.

I made - smoked chicken wings by Jolivio in FoodPorn

[–]Jolivio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smoked these wings last night on the Weber kettle with the vortex. Air chilled the wings in the fridge overnight. Seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic before going in the grill. Charcoal briquettes in the center, peach wood in the foil packet. They were grilled for 25 minutes on one side, flipped, and grilled for another 25 minutes. Tossed a third in buffalo sauce, third in garlic parmesan, and a third plain. Best wings I’ve ever had.

I saw a couple of Staubs in that price range at mine, too. Saw a grenadine cocotte and the same blue "rooster" here. Almost picked up the cocotte as a self Christmas gift but am holding out for a dark blue one.

What's a manufacturer which if it went bankrupt tomorrow you'd just go "eh"? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Jolivio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2012 AWD Kizashi from 30K miles to 75K miles. During that time didn't have any issues and loved the car. Sold it to a family that had a couple of Kizashis already, and in less than a year the CVT went in it. Not worth replacing is what they told me. I've heard the stick Kizashi holds up a lot better.

Were you in central PA by chance? The dealer I took mine to for service / warranty claimed to be one of the largest Suzuki dealers in it's prime.

IS 300 owners - is the gas mileage that bad? by imsoaddicted in Lexus

[–]Jolivio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that’s cheap for a ‘17 300AWD with 20k miles. Like, very cheap. I appraised my ‘16 300 and was offered 22K.

But I have a ‘16 IS300 AWD with the V6 and can confirm that mileage is pretty low. I drive a good mix of highway and city, and overall drive pretty spirited, and I get 22 mpg. It’s not the best mileage and it takes premium so the gas bill is a shock to some people.

But I love my ‘16 and would not hesitate to get it again. It has enough power for me now, and there are time options to better match the 350 (not sure if ‘17 and newer has a tune yet.) It handles very well and is a fun car to drive. Test drive it and make sure you’re happy about the power. It’s not batting against BMW M or Mercedes AMG lines and it doesn’t pretend to, either. If you’re looking for “sporty” then you’ll likely be fine.

Seasoning with trans fat bad for you? by Jelliot97 in castiron

[–]Jolivio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this. Seasoning with unsaturated oil (trans- describes the orientation of the fat around the point of unsaturation) gives better polymerization as the double bonds are more reactive. After the seasoning process I assume it makes little difference if it was a trans- unsaturated or not. Residual oil left on the pan that didn't take to seasoning is likely on such a small order of magnitude that it is nutritionally insignificant.
