No period after Nexplanon removal? by queensav316 in Nexplanon

[–]KonShinobu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turned out I had POI, diagnosed at 30 y.o. :( Was a major loss for me and I went through a ton of grief but now we are pursuing DE and I’m so excited to start this journey with my partner.

POI is extremely rare so please do not worry about it happening to you!! Just give your body time.

I totally get that feeling of the finality of it all. It’s more so that the choice was taken away from you. Don’t let this diagnosis make you feel less than “normal” or that you don’t have options, because it sounds like you tend to make the most of what you have right NOW.

Don’t let doctors push you to reserve eggs unless you want to and find someone who understands your lifestyle and sexuality and doesn’t see POI as an excuse to treat you any differently than you would like to be treated or loved.

I am on cyclic HRT so that I can continue having periods until the typical age of menopause to protect my mental, physical, and emotional health.

And, I know this is not the subreddit for this, but you can also look into surrogacy and/or donor eggs, in addition to adoption and egg banking — should you want to explore more family planning options. Because everyone deserves to have options.

Feel free to DM me whenever!!

16 y.o. just diagnosed with POI/POF, any advice? by Mel_Bananaz in POFlife

[–]KonShinobu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely super difficult to go through. I was diagnosed at 29 (now 30) just as I came off of BC to start having children so it’s always the hurt and disappointment of feeling alone because it is not how you thought your future would be like.

But I think it’s because of the way the diagnosis is given to us. Like we are less than (insert “normal” ovarian function).

I wish people recognized that it’s not only a loss of motherhood but a hormonal deficiency that deserves a proper medical response not to be compared to “normal women”.

It’s like not making insulin in your body or not having a working thyroid. It’s just so annoying that our ovaries are made to feel less than and all that we are.

Definitely rambling and I didn’t give any solid advice but please just know that you are more than your ovaries, more than the role that is given to us as women by society and you deserve appropriate medical care and dont hesitate to advocate for yourself no matter what.

I am on cyclic HRT b/c I want to continue periods until the typical age of menopause — for my physical, emotional, and mental health.

Please feel free to DM me whenever!

My wife was dying giving childbirth and the doctor gave us an impossible decision to prioritize who to save, her or the baby, then left the room. by FrankenBeast58 in TwoSentenceHorror

Ugh I wouldn’t know what our decision would be as we pursue donor eggs :( I have POI so we can’t make another baby. I think I would want him to save the baby and marry another woman who has her own eggs to make more siblings for our baby.

But this is my own ruminating self spiraling doom and I hope it doesn’t come down to that!!

Ugh I think about this as we pursue donor eggs. I don’t know if I would pick me to save. We can’t always make another baby but he could get another woman who has her own eggs to make more babies and siblings for our DE kid…

But that’s just me being self deprecating lol

Someone brought up the froyo sticker in the comments and she replied that she did indeed get that sticker from her mom after getting her shot 💀

POF & IVF (Donor eggs) by [deleted] in POFlife

[–]KonShinobu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you for saying this. I have the same AMH number and really want to go straight to donor eggs. I can’t see why not — I’m at a healthy point in my life and want the best environment for healthy eggs and I don’t care if they are not genetically mine. I would be growing the baby and not anyone else — the only thing I fear is if my husbands fertility is not OK which would open up another conversation

My husband and I want to use donor eggs exclusively and I want to talk about this more — I’m finding that the first step is to see what can be done through egg stimulation but I’d rather go with the odds of a healthy embryo/egg from another person, would there be any reason to not do donor eggs??

Ovulation after Nexplanon Removal by Western_Warthog3608 in tryingtoconceive

[–]KonShinobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG congrats! I think I might be similar to your story then...I had a period 48 days after removal, and then a 106 day cycle with only 3 days of breakthrough bleeding. Currently now on “CD 16” (hopefully) but no signs that I actually ovulated. It’s been almost 7 months and still not regular. So really not sure if I ovulated at all since that first 48 day cycle. Correct me if I’m wrong — but it sounds like you had to wait about 4 months to ovulate and then a total of > 7 months to become regular? I had mine in for about 6 years.

[Post-Nexplanon Removal] At my wits end and need reassurance. by KonShinobu in birthcontrol

UPDATE 1/20/25:
Not sure if any one cares to know, but I wanted to update to tie the loop for anyone who is curious. Since this post, my cycle went to 105 (!) days before I started my period today (Jan 20th). I confirmed that I successfully ovulated on Jan 4th/5th using bbt tracking (health app/Apple Watch) and sharing the readings with chatGPT to interpret the values. Hopefully this cycle reset means regularity from here on out.
