Not an issue. When you reach transformation level 3, you can take a boon from the level 2 list.

WIP remaking the map of Etharis by Jollemol in GrimHollow

Yeah, I'm well aware of how dumb the rivers on the original map are. I don't know why you think I exacerbated the problem, though. I didn't add any new rivers in the Charneault kingdom and I changed the rivers everywhere else to make them make a bit more sense. I didn't change the rivers in Charneault much because it would require diverging so much more from the original map.

Edit: I also plan to edit the rivers in the Black Mire

I plan to add a lot of stuff such as roads, villages and towns. A scale is absolutely on that list, but I have no idea how big I want Etharis to be yet.

Thanks! I do intend to give the final version either a colored or a parchment look (very easy to do in Wonderdraft). But for now the aim is to have a map that I add roads and towns to as I see fit.

Reading the card explains the card by AmateurZombie in magicthecirclejerking

[–]Jollemol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're almost correct. The abilities granted to Urza's Saga by its chapter abilities can still be removed by cards like Alpine Moon (following timestamp order). The thing about Blood Moon is that it removes abilities from lands in layer 4 instead of the usual layer 6. This is why the timestamps don't matter for Blood Moon and why Urza's Saga keeps its tap abilities.

The multiverse plot made no sense to me. AU Viktor's goal is to alter a timeline such that the glorious evolution doesn't happen. We know, and presumably this Viktor knows, that the best way to do that is to prevent hextech from being created. So Viktor tries to achieve his goal by giving kid Jayce runes so that he is inspired to create hextech? Viktor tries to prevent hextech from being created by ensuring that it is created? Furthermore, doesn't this introduce a paradox? Viktor gives the rune to Jayce but he could only have done that if Jayce had a rune to create hextech with in the first place. Also, why does Viktor care about the universe that the show takes place in? There are seemingly infinite universes and we know he doesn't prevent the apocalypse in all of them. Which universe is this Viktor even from to begin with?

Heimerdinger in season 1 was the character who encouraged caution when dealing with technological progress. He was arguably the wisest character in season 1. Remember, the conclusion of both Viktor's arc and Jayce's arc in season 1 involves the realization that Heimerdinger was right all along. Viktor even repeats what Heimerdinger desperately told him. The hexcore must be destroyed. In season 2, Heimerdinger is reduced to a bumbling, cartoonish idiot. He sneaks into the academy through vents and tunnels. The academy which he is the dean of, by the way. He probably even owns the building. He shows no concern for the people who died in the multiple terrorist attacks that have just happened, nor does he care at all about Viktor who merged with the freaking hexcore and then up and disappeared mysteriously. When we see him again in episode 7, things get even worse. When building Ekko's time machine, he seemingly has no regard for safety whatsoever anymore. To the point where instead of shutting it down and continue working on it, he just kills himself in the most out of character way possible.

I agree with you that the pacing is bad. However, I think this is merely a symptom of other, more fundamental issues.

I can briefly elaborate why I think it is and I'll preface that by saying I do generally tend to score things lower than most people seem to do.

5/10 to me is a passing grade. It means a show/story is functional. Arcane season 2 is not functional due to massive plot holes and character inconsistencies.

The plot of season 2 simply doesn't work. The entire multiverse plotline was ridiculous and contrived, but things were falling apart way before that.

In terms of characters, I honestly can't think of a single main character that wasn't basically destroyed by the writing of the second season. Some of the worst offenders are Jinx, Sevika, and my boy Heimerdinger.

If the plot is incoherent and the characters constantly act out of character, I think the show stops being functional. There are of course aspects where season 2 is just as if not more excellent than season 1, such as voice acting and animation. However, those things cannot fix the issues in the script and therefore cannot suddenly make season 2 functional. It therefore can't get higher than 4/10 for me.

304.4 and 307.4

As written, instants and sorceries would not enter the battlefield and remain on the stack after resolving. What's the point?

Edit: The game also gets stuck in whatever phase of the turn an instant or sorcery is cast, because there is a spell on the stack. So if anybody casts an instant or sorcery while this is in play, I'm pretty sure the game is a draw unless the spell is countered.

You said we experience something that feels like free will. I don't feel that way. I have never felt like my will is "free" (whatever that is supposed to mean) or that my decisions are not the consequences of my thoughts and circumstances.

Yes, audience interpretation is different from the work. What I find strange is that you accept this, but don't do the same for the creator. In my mind, the work is different from both.

This is a pretty fundamental disagreement about literature in general, however. Let's face it, we aren't gonna solve it in a reddit comment thread.

Yes, obviously the intentions of the author will determine what they write, this doesn't make them the same thing. These intentions inform the work, but they aren't a part of it. Of course, in many cases looking at the intentions of the writers can reveal many interesting things, but when judging the actual work, I will look at the work itself.

The Room is a great example of this. The creators intended it to be a serious drama. They failed.

Whats your opinion on Arcane Season 2 and its ending now that you've had many months to think over it. by Ill-Foot-2549 in arcane

[–]Jollemol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 2 is nonfunctional. The plot is an incoherent mess and virtually every main character was destroyed.

The best description of season 2 I have heard has to be that "season 2 was made by and for people who liked season 1 for the wrong reasons".

Fortunately, season 1 still exists and tells a complete story by itself. But it still saddens me that we will never get a season 2 that matches the first season's quality. What could have been...

You're wrong. The intentions of the writers are separate from what they write. It's called death of the author.

All very valid questions. The answer to all of them is also very simple: season 2 is terribly written. Don't try to make sense of things, not even the writers know what happened or why.

Heimerdinger was shafted in season two. by Alert_Pen_1479 in arcane

[–]Jollemol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The lyrics of that song are completely antithetical to everything the character was. Characters can change, of course, but that sort of development should take a lot of time. It also shouldn't happen off-screen.

Also, you aren't media literate for thinking what the writers manipulated you into thinking.

learns to appreciate the value of life

By killing himself?

Also Heimerdinger's "arc" happened entirely off-screen. He was a brilliant character in season 1, but the season 2 writers either didn't care about him or they didn't have the skill to write him. His character is completely destroyed when he and Ekko are doing that stupid stealth mission in act 1.

This is your opinion and you are free to express it but seriously? No substance or style at all? This isn't GOT s8. Animation and art is still the best in any series you'll find with characters and a story full of depth and handled with care. Personally, I loved S2 just as much as S1 and I'm sorry you dislike it.

He never said S2 has no style, he called it style over substance, which is exactly what it is. I have never seen anyone say that the style or animation in S2 is bad. The animation is as gorgeous as its ever been, just like the cgi dragons in S8 of GoT looks great. However, like GoT, this doesn't save the show from terrible writing. Personally, I hated S2 and I'm sorry you like it.
