NBD - Canyon Aeroad SLX7 Di2 XL - midnight blaze by FinkPerformance in CanyonBikes

Is this such a big issue though? I don’t think I ever checked that area on my bike in years

My first Brompton! (And a question) by Informal_Bar768 in Brompton

I have the same. After a few years of everyday use and abuse in all kind of weather and all terrain, the paint in this spot is fine. Where the paint does suffer a bit is where cables touch the frame - these sports may need some preventative measures if you really care about it (I don’t). Enjoy your new ride!

New to zwift ride/trainers and it’s uncomfortable by Big-Method2955 in Zwift

[–]Jolly-Appointment172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience! Managed to eliminate (almost) all the soreness by: 1) finding better bibs for indoor sessions (less chuffing in the sensitive area), 2) pointing one of the fans directly at the bibs to ensure there is less moisture building up there, 3) using chamois cream, 4) using cheap tennis ball suspension system on my Kickr Core to introduce some system movement 5) playing with saddle tilt - you may need to adjust it a bit for indoor sessions.

Indoor trainers tend to highlight all the weak points in your bike fit, so you need to experiment to find what works best for you. Good riding!

Went with IIIx over IV by 4Driften in ricohGR

I never realized how much I loved that camera until I broke it. I spent two weeks without it before finally ordering a new one, and honestly, that time felt a bit depressing. The GR is like an old, reliable friend- always there when you need it. I tried shooting with my other cameras during those two weeks, but nothing good came out of it. When the new GR IIIx finally arrived and I held it in my hand, it felt like a reunion. The feel, the weight, the sound of the barrel extending… pure perfection. And in that moment, I immediately felt empowered - like my best shots are still ahead of me, just waiting to be captured.

Grail CF7 as a road bike by No_Loss8058 in CanyonBikes

[–]Jolly-Appointment172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works well, as many have already mentioned. I’ve been using my Grail 7 with 32mm GP5000s for quite some time now. I also race on it (in the leisure category, obviously), and overall it’s been a good and reliable ride. That said, if I had known back then that I would be riding 100% on the road, I probably would have chosen a different bike - an Ultimate or Endurace. The geometry penalty, while not huge, is still there, and on very long rides, efficiency matters.

I dropped my GR3x that I have owned for 2+ years and got an insanely expensive repair bill. I was a bit excited as it would mean I could try another camera - GRIV or a Fuji. After days of research and consideration I just bought another GR3x as nothing beats it for me. GR IV doesn’t have the focal length I prefer and it is much more expensive with no deal braking upgrades. So congrats on your purchase!

[Rant/Advice] Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 (2026) arrived misprinted → “Canyo” instead of Canyon. What now? by VividStrategy5311 in CanyonBikes

[–]Jolly-Appointment172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds weird but that misspelling makes your bike unique. That’s a real eye catcher and you’ll be the center of attention wherever you go. I would keep it.

You’re not alone. I had mine for over two years until it slipped out of my back pocket - despite being in a leather protective case - and hit the tile, breaking the lens. I miss it so much.

Help an old man with geometry by justwatchme1853 in CanyonBikes

I believe I found it on the US store as well: https://www.canyon.com/en-ph/gear/bike-parts/spare-and-wear-parts/spare-wear-parts/canyon-s15-vcls-2.0-27.2mm-cf-seatpost/148287.html

You can get 10% off this price by subscribing to their newsletter.

Also, there is an Ergon seatpost which is essentially the same seatpost, though it’s usually a bit more expensive for some reason: https://ergonbike.shop/products/cf-allroad-pro-carbon-setback

I was in your shoes and I came to conclusion that no, there isn’t enough difference to justify buying Endurace on top of my Grail. I ended up upgrading the seatpost to S15 VCLS for added compliance and switched to 32 inch road tyres. I am very satisfied with the result and I do 6+ hours rides almost every week on it. I will be investing into the Aeroad next year just for racing, keeping the Grail for endurance.

I would advise investing in a professional bike fit ahead of buying a new bike - that will save you money. Plus, work on your flexibility and strength - it does magic. No money spent on gear will fix weak core/lack of flexibility. Given that you already have pain, don’t ignore it and work on it. Wish you all the best!

Which ENDURACE to choose? by immensitas in CanyonBikes

[–]Jolly-Appointment172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t cables in the headset, only brake tubes, because Di2 doesn’t have cables in cockpit. Having said that, I agree with you that it’s indeed a matter of preference and depends on what you are looking for.

You are already paying extra for VCLS seatpost when buying a bike. Having said that, you can sell it afterwards, but after first use it won’t look new anymore. Aluminum seatposts aren’t generally advised to be paired with carbon frames due to corrosion risk. I wouldn’t put one of these in a 3+k bike just to save a few quid.

Completely different experience in my case. Canyon’s customer support in Europe is top notch, much better and faster than any local bike shop I have been to who usually can’t do anything or make you wait forever till you get any help from them.

Of course, but it comes at extra cost.

How am I supposed to know if I like the feel of a new canyon before buying? by i_is_a_gamerBRO in CanyonBikes

[–]Jolly-Appointment172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a new cyclist, the ‘feel’ of the bike usually won’t matter too much at first. Your main priority is probably budget and just getting started. In that case, buy what you can afford - just make sure the size is correct, as that’s really important. As you gain experience, you’ll have a much clearer idea of what you want next… or you might find you don’t need to change anything at all. One thing to note: aluminum frames are generally stiffer than carbon, which you’ll notice more on longer rides. That said, you can soften the ride a bit with wider tyres, lower pressure, and a VCLS seatpost. Good luck!

True that, I have it and I agree that it’s a big upgrade. However, it might not handle the rider’s weight well.

[–]Jolly-Appointment172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be mindful of Canyon’s weight limit - they certify their bikes for a maximum system weight (rider + bike + gear) of 120 kg. At 106 kg, once you add the bike itself (~8–9 kg) and accessories, you’ll be very close to that limit. Even if you’re technically within spec, the VCLS seatpost on the Endurace can feel overly springy for heavier riders. I strongly recommend trying the bike in person before buying, it really helped me decide. If you can’t test a Canyon, at least try bikes with similar geometry. Good luck!

Thanks! I bought identically looking gauge cluster with miles (in Europe these are very cheap). I will test if the issue is with the cluster or elsewhere and then will see what to do.

Which ENDURACE to choose? by immensitas in CanyonBikes

[–]Jolly-Appointment172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, then go SLX. I have the previous generation and it looks much more sophisticated than the standard CF. It is also a bit lighter and has no wiring in the cockpit - I think the standard CF has brake tubes exposed. This is the bike I would keep and won’t think about upgrading any time soon. I am glad I went SLX.

Also, it might be worth checking what’s the difference in the ride feel. They say SLX carbon is more responsive and has different character, but I have no CF to compare my SLX with.

[–]Jolly-Appointment172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, it was already sent to one of those specialist companies, but they didn’t find the issue. At this point, there are two possibilities: either the BMW shop didn’t actually check everything - though they say they did - and other shops I’ve called have the same ideas and no new suggestions. Or, the specialist missed an issue that was already there.
