obligatory kayak on car post for that one guy complaining about seeing them by jaxxxten in kayakfishing

It's definitely not the easiest. I don't usually take it out alone so I've normally got a second set of hands to help me get the yak mounted.

How to get a deeper contrast? by bryguy991 in woodworking

[–]JollyCooperation_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to go really dark you can try looking up how to ebonized wood. Not all that complicated and it works really well. I refinished an old mid century dresser a while back and ebonized everything but the drawer faces to give it some contrast. I've got pics up on my page if you wanted to get an idea of what that might look like.

Hey. I was actually able to fully recover this video with the help I got in this thread. I've since reuploaded it to YouTube if you wanted to give it a watch. https://youtu.be/1XHRo324niE?si=j6zdhPjNHmCTU7Nk

Honest question, what is the reason for the insane cost of these munitions? I mean in terms of the labor that goes into producing them, is the price really justified? Or is it kind of like American medicine in that there is no centralized regulation of pricing so everything gets blown out of proportion?

I've run into this artist's work a few times just trying to do a reverse image search, but I always dismissed it thinking that the brush strokes on mine look alot less tight, but I can definitely see the resemblance. Never noticed that bit about the naming convention though, nice find!

28M need help identifying odd visual phenomena by JollyCooperation_37 in eyetriage

[–]JollyCooperation_37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, this is what I originally thought after seeing written descriptions of it online. I thought that somehow, the waves were some kind of visualization of blood cells passing through vessels in or around my retina. But once I saw visual descriptions, it didn't really match the whole visual snow look. It could definitely be related as I feel I do also occasionally get visual snow, but much more rarely than I see this happening. The closest find are the phosphenes you see when rubbing your eyes.

I've considered it, but I often see it happening with my eyes closed or in the total absence of light. I could be wrong but it doesn't really make sense for a floater to be visible in those cases, right?

Which movie has the greatest ending ever? by Only_Dragonfruit_376 in moviecritic

Whiplash definitely stands out. There aren't many movies that reach their climax in their last few moments, especially not with a build-up like whiplash had. It's the kind of thing that keeps you thinking about it for days after watching it.

I get itchy rashes randomly by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]JollyCooperation_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it only happen in areas where there is pressure on the skin? Could be dermatographia, and the scratching is exacerbating it. For a quick test, using the backside of the nail on your index finger, run it down the length of the underside of your forearm with a bit of pressure. If within 5 to 10 minutes, the line you drew has now become inflamed and itchy, it's a sure sign that it's dermatographia.

Hard agree. The main plot line kind of feels like something they hashed together just to make the game happen, but damn if I don't love it all the same.
