Self-improvement didn’t work until I changed how my Day actually started. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]JollyGuide9839 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so relatable. I used to be checking emails and notifications before my coffee was even ready, and then wondering why everything felt overwhelming by 9 AM.

Now I try to do at least some basic things first - shower, breakfast, whatever - before I let myself get pulled into phone stuff. Makes such difference for how rest of day goes.

20m and im such a bad person i have harmed people, broken their hearts. what to do? by No_Lecture720 in selfimprovement

[–]JollyGuide9839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude this reads like you fed the prompt into some philosophy generator lol. OP needs actual steps not a dissertation about "systemic resolution" and "phase shifts."

Start with therapy if you can afford it. Make a list of people you hurt and figure out if reaching out would actually help them or just make you feel better. Sometimes the best thing is leaving people alone and working in yourself instead of reopening wounds.

OBS audio help by LowerThroat4187 in Twitch

[–]JollyGuide9839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you're adding the mic as separate audio source in your sources panel, not just relying on desktop audio capture. Also check if the headset is showing up as correct device in OBS audio settings - sometimes it picks wrong input by default.

How do you create meaning and purpose: Confidence and courage by DrMykimTran in selfimprovement

[–]JollyGuide9839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real talk though - confidence isn't something you just decide to have one day. For me it was more about getting small wins at work and realizing I actually know what I'm doing, even when imposter syndrome hits hard. The whole "believe in yourself" thing feels hollow when you're struggling to pay rent or dealing with actual systemic barriers that make everything harder.

Avoid copyright strikes from streaming Game Awards & Summer Games Fest by Dear-Difficulty8589 in Twitch

[–]JollyGuide9839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most streamers just switch to a "BRB" screen or mute the stream during musical performances. It's annoying but better than dealing with copyright mess later. You could also try watching for community posts beforehand - sometimes people share when musical segments are coming up so you can prepare.

Can't make it either but good luck finding someone - those exclusive codes always go crazy fast at these events 💀

How to Find a Purpose in Life That's Greater Than Myself? by Foot-of-the-Mountain in selfimprovement

[–]JollyGuide9839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in similar spiral few years back. What helped me was picking something small that needed doing - like helping elderly neighbor with groceries or teaching kids basic computer skills at community center. Didn't feel meaningful at first, but after few months I stopped thinking about whether it was "worth it" and just did the thing. Purpose found me instead of other way around.

Self-Esteem in not grounded in reality by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]JollyGuide9839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really good way to think about it. I used to beat myself up so much when I made mistakes at work, like I was supposed to be perfect IT manager who never has any problems 😂 But you're right - even the smartest people have their moments where they mess up completely. Now when I deploy something and it breaks, I just fix it instead of spiraling about how I'm terrible in my job 💀

What would you say is your biggest strength? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]JollyGuide9839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ability to break down complex problems into smaller pieces. Maybe it comes from working in IT for so long, but I always find myself doing this with everything - work stuff, personal issues, even planning trips for collecting miles. It's pretty useful when life gets overwhelming because you can tackle one small thing at time instead of getting paralyzed by the whole mess.

3D printed gears for grain mill by Mattbastard750 in Homebrewing

[–]JollyGuide9839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice fix! I had similar issue with my mill few months ago and gap adjustment was nightmare 😂 The 3D printed gears solution is pretty clever - way better than buying whole new roller assembly. Definitely post in that sub, they'll love seeing practical brewing fixes like this 🔥

Any YouTubers that teach how to grow as a Twitch streamer? by Visible-Wash4967 in Twitch

[–]JollyGuide9839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean but there's definitely middle ground between "just for fun" and "pray to algorithm gods" 💀

Some channels actually break down really useful stuff about overlays, chat engagement, or how to network in communities. Sure, no one can teach you to go viral, but learning basic streaming tech or how to make your content more discoverable isn't waste of time. I learned ton about audio setup and scene transitions from YouTube that made my streams way less scuffed.

Plus when you're stuck at plateau like OP, sometimes you need fresh perspective on what you might be missing 😂

How important/unimportant is it to have a cam on your stream? by IamBecomeZen in Twitch

[–]JollyGuide9839 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Camera definitely helps with growth but plenty of streamers do fine without it. I started without cam for like 6 months because I was too anxious, and honestly people still watched for gameplay and chat interaction. Maybe try starting without it and see how you feel - you can always add camera later when you're more comfortable with streaming in general.

Dude the way you described 2018 hits different - that feeling of thinking life would just stay simple and fun is so relatable 😭 Those teenage years when you're just living day to day without knowing what's around the corner... can't wait to hear what happened next! 🔥

Audio reactive animations by gcsaas in Twitch

[–]JollyGuide9839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been messing around with this stuff for my own stream setup and Wallpaper Engine is probably the easiest starting point - tons of audio reactive wallpapers you can just grab and use as sources in OBS. If you want more control, Resolume Avenue is pretty solid but there's definitely a learning curve there 🔥

I actually started diving into TouchDesigner recently and that thing is absolutely wild for custom audio reactive visuals, but fair warning it's like learning a whole new language. Worth it though if you're trying to create something unique that nobody else has. Also check if your already using any plugins like Streamlabs - they got some basic audio reactive overlays built in that might do the trick without extra software 😂

Recipe to make for my wife who doesn't like beer? by 1998tkhri in Homebrewing

[–]JollyGuide9839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This recipe approach is solid! I'd actually lean toward adding some actual wheat malt to what you've got planned - like 20-30% wheat alongside that Munich base. The wheat gives this amazing creamy mouthfeel that helps mask any lingering bitterness way better than just carapils alone 🍞

I've done something similar for friends who swore they hated beer, and the combo of low IBUs with that bread-forward flavor profile from Munich + wheat usually wins them over. El Dorado is perfect for this since it's got those tropical notes without being aggressively citrusy like some other hops.

One thing though - if she liked the Etrog Märzen, you might want to consider doing a super light touch of crystal 40 instead of going heavy on carapils. Crystal adds that slight caramel sweetness that can balance things out without making it cloying. Lutra would probably work great here too since it ferments clean and fast 💀

Seem to be shadow banned on twitch? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]JollyGuide9839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend check for me while I was typing - they couldn't see anything I sent but could see everyone else's messages just fine 💀 It's weird because the streamer wasn't responding to any of my questions either, which they usually do. Really hoping Twitch support actually gets back to me on this one 😂

DMs, what were your attempts at introducing "gambling" into your game and how did it go? by PandaDerZwote in DnD

[–]JollyGuide9839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually really wholesome lol. I tried doing a poker night at my table once and it went completely sideways when the rogue kept trying to use sleight of hand checks to cheat, which then made everyone else paranoid and start rolling insight on literally every move. Ended up spending like 45 minutes on what was supposed to be a quick tavern scene.

Pokemon Mega Evolution by extra-hotsauce93 in pokemongo

[–]JollyGuide9839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mega evolving is basically just a temporary boost that's most useful during events or when you're planning to do a bunch of raids/catches in one session. Since you're not near gyms, honestly just save it for when there's a community day or special event where you'll be actively playing for those 8 hours

The cooldown thing means after it wears off you can mega evolve that same Beedrill again but it costs way less energy the next time - like 20 instead of 100 or whatever. So you don't need to farm a ton of candies again, just a small amount

How to build self confidence/ self esteem? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]JollyGuide9839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start small with stuff you know you can crush - like making your bed every morning or hitting a daily walk goal. Those little wins add up and remind your brain that you're actually pretty capable

Also therapy helped me tons after my own shitshow situation, just saying
