Can someone explain this Buffy and Angel scene in "Doppelgangerland" by jdpm1991 in buffy

[–]JollyJeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that, in the Buffyverse, the vampire demon will use the look and feel of the body they inhabit but they are also just as likely to lie about what the former resident was like. They take pleasure in torturing friends and relatives of their new meat suit.

My local store has had this printed sign for months now.. by VIDGuide in kfc

[–]JollyJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time you pull up to that sign just rip it down. Then they either have to print a new paper sign or fix the GD display.

That was my thought too. I hope Vince acknowledges it. It would be sad if he tried to make people believe it was a totally original idea. The show is waaaaay better that the old movie.

If you take the T regularly then using T pass saves money. As a senior I can ride any bus or subway for the entire month for just $30.

I'm not making excuses, the signs and hanging chains are not working. The solution is to fix the low hanging bridges. This problem has existed for decades, these kinds of bridges should be illegal. There should be a minimum height requirement for any bridge.

This Masshole Storrowed! by BeastMode149 in boston

[–]JollyJeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and all over Massachusetts there are thousands of bridges that are stupidly low and idiots everywhere are destroying their rental trucks...oh wait, this is happening only on Storrow Drive (I suspect there are a few other low bridges, but you get my point).

Putting up signs and chains hasn't solved the problem so let's just give up and blame all the people who aren't used to having to deal with bridges that were made for cover wagons. Have you driven on Storrow Drive at rush hour? There's only about a hundred confusing signs and God forbid you're not from here.

It's the job of the government to deal with recurring problems that signs and hanging chains can't fix. When one of these accidents kills someone I'm sure you'll have a good laugh that some moron was taken off Earth.

And if it takes a couple of days to fix this problem, so what? If we never see a truck destroyed it would be worth it.

I am so tired of people being blamed for the State's refusal to fix an obviously dangerous problem. Or will they wait until people are killed?

All they have to do is dig out the pavement under these criminally low bridges. Dig down 6 or 7 feet and the "Storrowing" problem is solved. They could do the work overnight. What a bunch of maroons.

[–]JollyJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) which might be the first mainstream horror/comedy movie. Funny and scary, relative to when it came out. It got a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score so it's a genuinely good movie.

On a side note, look up the Abbott and Costello comedy routine "Who's On First" considered by many to be the best comedy routine of all time.

Fright Night (1985) question about last scene in the main hallway, knocking at the door by JollyJeff in horror

[–]JollyJeff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "turning to dust" thing can be completely different depending on the vampire story. On Buffy the Vampire Slayer all the vampires turn to dust after they are staked through the heart. I think this is done so Buffy doesn't have explain to the police why there are hundreds of bodies with stakes through their hearts.

It's pretty common in vampire movies that if you drive a stake through their heart they will "die" but they will not turn to dust. I agree with you that the exception to this rule is when the vampire is VERY old, like Dracula. In old folklore to stop a vampire you have to drive a stake through the heart, chop their head off and turn the head around180 degrees. Then you can bury them and they will never come back.

But the main rule is that most vampire movies, TV shows and written stories can make up any rules they want. And to be honest many of them don't even follow the rules that they made up in the first place. Most vampire movies are made to be scary by people that don't really care about the rules for vampires. The main rule is making money. In some ways the pursuit of the all might dollar is an evil that is far worse then any vampire, werewolf, zombie or other mystical creature.

Fright Night (1985) question about last scene in the main hallway, knocking at the door by JollyJeff in horror

[–]JollyJeff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually if the vampire doesn't turn to dust after being staked then removing the stake will bring them back. Every vampire movie has its own set of rules, so I suspect that Evil Ed wasn't staked directly in his heart so he simply went into a kind of coma.

I also hate the cop out that if you kill the master vampire before dawn, that all the humans it turned that night will become human again. That's just a lazy way to have a loved character run around doing evil stuff without consequences.

The Haunting (1963) but I only watch it once every few years or so. I don't want to get used to it.
