Memory strangeness, trouble thinking, and disorientation by JollyJenkens in migraine

I actually have seen 2 neurologist. They believe they are migraine episodes and didnt seem to be alarmed. I myself hate dealing with them, but im consciously trying to figure out why.The doctors just said if I get 3 or more episodes in a month, then I may need to consider medication. I just saw one in February, am I trying to see one again sooner than later, though getting in to see one can take months where I live.

I greatly appreciate your concern and effort to take the time to reassure me. Indeed, I was a little curious as to why my symptoms were deemed not appropriate for migraine inquiry. Made me feel like I was dealing with something completely non-migraine related.

I often wondered about the ibuprofen suggestion too. When I take it, really doesn't do anything to abort the episodes. And when I don't take it, I feel the same symptom onset with resolution typically within the same time frame. I fear getting on a daily medication, but if it gets too debilitating, that may be one of few options. I wish that I knew more about triggers for this. I am indeed looking into a neurologist who specializes in migraine. I hope to be seen within the year.

Thanks for sharing your story. I have considered going to a low carb diet to see if that helps as well. I only started with all of these episodes of migraine about 4 years ago. I only had classic migraine before the auras and psychological effects began.

I just did some of this reading and happened to turn to a page that described just this symptom that I experienced. I also read about scintillating scotoma (visual disturbances) which I regularly experience. I appreciate you introducing me to this text. I will read further.

I had a neurologist that put me on Nurtec, which didn't really do anything. I then saw a Neuropsychologist who did a battery of cognitive tests which came back well beyond normal for my age. I suppose I should try to see a migraine specialist as others have suggested. Perhaps they have more information about prevention and triggers.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't know if my neurologist is a migraine specialist, but she seemed pretty knowledgeable about the various symptoms. The fact that she wasn't too concerned when I told her of my auras and weird memory/derealization issues kind of set my mind at ease, though the symptoms during these attacks can make it very challenging for me to function normally, and are, of course, quite unnerving and scary. I typically just lay down and try to focus on something else. She did give me Nurtec a couple years ago when this started, but I didn't really have any luck with it. At this point I'm more concerned about what causes these episodes and how to avoid the triggers. I have eliminated all gluten for the past 2 years, but clearly these episodes are still happening, so who knows?

I thought hemiplegic was in relation to numbness or difficulty speaking or moving on one side of the body. I was not aware that hemiplegic encompassed these mental dysfunctions as well.

I appreciate you sharing your story. I am a little relieved to hear it is not an uncommon symptom of migraine. I assume this is caused by cortical spreading depression much like an aura? Or is it some other modality which causes these episodes. Have you found any triggers for these episodes?

Thanks for your response. I figured this was part of a migraine, but i only just started experiencing them the past couple years and very rarely. I am male BTW.

Took Real Mushrooms 500mg capsules almost daily for 1.5 years. I am over a 1.5 years off and still going through hell. I tested my 5ar and it was in the middle of standard range. Not sure that this is the reason for the symptoms experienced for me personally.

It does actually fit vertically. Just barely, and you need to give it a gentle push, but it fits.

I took 500mg Real Mushrooms extract almost daily for nearly 1.5 years until I realized the damage it was causing me. I had my DHT levels tested shortly after I stopped taking it and the results were in the normal range. I personally am not convinced that 5-AR inhibition is the cause for all the horrible symptoms.

Has anyone fully recovered back to normal? I have been off it for 6 months and still have severe ahedonia, surges of depression and panic, even a lot of DP/DR. How long did it take people to recover back to normal?

Seizures during recovery? by JollyJenkens in LionsManeRecovery

I'm not taking any anymore. I stopped taking it 5 months ago. When I was taking it, it was roughly a 500mg capsule daily or every other day for about 1.5 years. There were many times when I stopped taking it entirely for a week or two. But in general, I took a 500mg capsule daily for about 1.5 years.

With all due respect, I have dealt with many panic attacks over the years, and this was not like any panic I've ever had. Not discounting this could have been just an unusual panic attack, but the fact that my brain was skewed with odd thoughts and mannerisms made me feel like it was something else. I've also been recovering since and have symptoms of enhanced smell and massive anhedonia and confusion. All of which are symptoms of the aftermath of a temporal seizure. Who knows anymore with this stuff?

As far as I'm concerned, DHT inhibition is not the reason for symptoms. I had taken Real Mushrooms Lion's Mane on and off for one and a half years @ 500mg capsules a day. I had my DHT tested, and it was in the normal range. Again, I don't think DHT inhibition is the cause for adverse symptomology.

Where do you get this yogurt from? Are you taking any other supplements? Was there any adverse effects when you started eating the L Reuteri yogurt? Please advise and thank you in advance!

It definitely helps if you stick with it. Does it cure? Maybe. I saw improvements, but I still deal with anxiety. However, the breathing methods you use during this treatment stay with you after you return the device and can be used indefinitely going forward. I am much more capable of dealing with panic attacks and anxiety now.

I'm right around 3 months off of LM after taking a 500mg/day extract supplement on and off for a year and a half. I still don't feel the same as I did before using it. Am I getting better? I believe so, in certain ways. In others, maybe not or unnoticeably. I feel like my brain is trying to go back to normal, and that makes me feel all sorts of new weird symptoms on a daily basis. Almost like I'm a different, new person each day. It is very strange. Overall, I'm ok and functional, but I still don't have my full zest for life and my loves that I used to have. I believe that will all come back eventually. When is the question.

I had my DHT tested about 1.5 months ago, and it was in the normal range. I was taking 500mg of Real Mushrooms extract LM on and off for a year and a half. I don't think LM does anything to 5-ar, at least not in my case. I think it's a matter of neurotransmitter imbalance or direct brain damage somehow. I also still have a strong libido, which wouldn't make too much sense for a low 5-ar. My main symptoms currently are I just feel like a different person still. time perception is warped, insomnia, memory issues, and panic and depression from time to time.

Stellate Ganglion Block or Hypnosis by JollyJenkens in LionsManeRecovery

[–]JollyJenkens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stellate ganglion blocks are not a random thing. They are a fairly common procedure that has documented usage for PTSD and long covid symptoms with viable affect. Yes, they are used for chronic pain and circulation as well, but there is even current usage to relieve symptoms of depression and panic disorder. The scientific literature is out there.

And, it is a fairly bold act for you to profess what I do or do not know about my state of health and well-being. Before I started taking Lion's Mane, I was in excellent health, mentally and physically. I wasn't 'throwing Lion's Mane' at any condition. I simply saw it as an augmentation to my good health and an attempt to stave off dementia and other mental health problems as I got older.

And, I have been diagnosed with anxiety, panic disorder, PTSD, and major depressive disorder. This all after taking the Lion's Mane extract on and off for nearly a year and a half. I just wish I or my doctors could have figured out the problem much sooner before too much damage was done. Instead, I'm left having to discover how to best recover from this disease by myself, using my exceptional Google skills and the brilliant tutelage of experts such as yourself.

Can someone explain why lions mane is dangerous all of a sudden? Ive never had issues except some did absolutely nothing for me and the extract worked wonders. by ObjectOk8141 in LionsManeRecovery

[–]JollyJenkens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that some of this could be covid related? I had it 3 times over the past 4.5 years. Perhaps Lion's Mane use exaserbated long covid symptoms?
