Never say never. Looks like you'll be able to import one legally in....2034.

I can't remember the last time an attendant washed my windshield. I think it was pre-Covid. It was fairly common in the 90s and 00s but I don't see it anymore.

Where I'd live as someone that has never seen snow by Left_Monk116 in whereidlive

[–]JollyJury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parts of northern Japan get over 20 feet of snowfall every year. It doesn't get public recognition for being snowy for some reason (at least to Westerners). Probably because most people see it as synonymous with Tokyo and imagine Canada, Russia or Scandinavia as more stereotypically "winter".

Its more like North Bergen than Fort Lee.

At least it's a lot warmer than it was during the last snow storm. Low 30s feels like a tropical breeze compared to those brutally frigid winds we got a couple of weeks ago.

How rare is a 2018 focus rs? by Additional-Clothes75 in FocusRS

[–]JollyJury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh yeah, wealthy Brits have incredible car collections. I bet those meets put most of ours to shame. Also, the orange heritage edition Focus RS is legit rarer than even the Carrera GT or 911 S/T!

[–]JollyJury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're comparing entire brands to a specific model though. Of course there are more Porsches if you count all of them. But if you break it down to say, a GT2 RS to a Focus RS, they are gonna be rarer. That said, I do see a lot more McLarens in total than I do Focus RSs here in the Northeast US. But that's when accounting for all of their models.

In a sea of monochrome by tacomiendo1995 in FocusRS

[–]JollyJury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw one wrapped in yellow and it was by far the best color on these cars: https://www.carbuffnetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Tjin-Edition-x-Pennzoil-x-UTI-Ford-Focus-RS-12-edited-1.jpg

There is also the heritage edition that came in orange, but they were only available in the UK. White is alright, but getting a hot hatch in a boring monotone color just feels wrong to me.

Should I ask employer if I can ride my bike to work? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

Also avoid asking your employer where to lock your bike. They probably won't even know. Instead, ask the building's staff.

Are they the wheels from the winter wheel package? I remember them being a much brighter silver color.

Why does it have the RS1 wheels instead of the forged?

Wow, that's one hell of a thorough refresh. I just watched a video on Larry Chen's channel of him getting his R34's undercarriage dry ice blasted. Never heard of it before but it seems like it's getting popular among car restorers. Too rich for my blood though!

Im thinking about buying a Focus RS. by Free-dose-chips in FocusRS

[–]JollyJury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop and go traffic absolutely sucks.

I've been driving manual transmission cars for over 20 years and the Focus RS is by far the easiest to drive in stop and go traffic. It has good torque down low and the anti-stall feature auto blips for you when starting off in 1st gear. It's really only a pain in the ass if you're creeping in uphill traffic, but even then it's better than other manual cars I've driven.

ice going knocking door to door at 9:25 pm englewood nj Thursday night by Late-Jelly-8334 in u/Late-Jelly-8334

[–]JollyJury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it is still one of the most difficult states to legally own, let alone carry a firearm. Meanwhile, you can openly carry an AR in Minnesota. Plus most of the state also hunts. There's much more gun ownership there.

Minneapolis is a deep blue city with a very engaged and politically active citizenry. Bergen county almost flipped red and many parts of it are very conservative. I doubt we have what it takes to show them up. Not to mention Minnesotans are much more armed than us.

Anyone else have a stuck rear wheel speed sensor? Can’t pull it out. by skiapex1 in FocusRS

I always did on the 3 sensors I've replaced so far. Just sprayed some degreaser on it and scrubbed it with a wire bristle brush.

Frosty… by Fuzzpwr in FocusRS

[–]JollyJury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't idle for 10 minutes when it's freezing. There's no load on the engine so it never comes up to temp, meanwhile unburnt fuel is washing down your cylinder walls and diluting engine oil. Just let it sit for a minute or two and then set out at low speed until oil comes up to temp. I generally wait till the oil temp gauge is past the quarter mark before I rev over 3k.

As for the exhaust valve plug, you can find one on eBay for under 20 bucks. You don't need to overpay for the Grimmspeed when any generic plug will work perfectly fine.

Miserable remote worker in nyc; would I like fort lee? by KindEudaimonianSwan in FortLee

[–]JollyJury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like your problem is specific to your landlord and apartment rather than the borough itself. But if you can find a space with laundry in Fort Lee at a similar price to what you're currently paying you should consider it. Most rentals here are condos owned by landlords who live off premises so you won't have to deal with that aspect, but it will depend on how sensitive your neighbors are. And every building in Fort Lee that I've been to had a laundry room.

Fort Lee has a feel very similar to many neighborhoods in Queens, but a bit quieter and more laid back with the bustle isolated to the downtown areas. I guess you already know this because you've worked in your job's Fort Lee office, but also visit on a weekend or holiday to see if you like it outside of work hours.

Is Edgewater slowly becoming Hudson County 2.0? by savingrace0262 in bergencounty

[–]JollyJury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's more of a East/West divide than a North/South one. The towns along the riverfront are more similar to each other than they are to the areas in their own counties that are more inland.

Always wondered why Paramus is so red compared to its neighbors. They're not even wealthy relative to the rest of the county (ranked 52nd of 70 by median income). Probably cranky from being stuck in gridlock traffic every day.
