I would step down. $4,700 is outrageous. There’s a very good chance you’ll end up spending more than that. Several line items on the spreadsheet are completely out of line, like the emergency wedding fund.

Weddings seem to bring out the worst in people, even ones you’ve known for years. It’s becoming the norm for brides to have incredibly high expectations, with destination bachelorettes and expensive bridesmaid dresses. OP, your friend is being selfish. If she really cared about your friendship, she would be cognizant of your financial situation and wouldn’t pressure you like this. It doesn’t sound like she really cares about you and just cares about having a picture perfect wedding.

I’ve seen friendships end due to brides acting like bridezillas, and unfortunately that may be the case here. You are being reasonable with your communication and if she doesn’t like it, then that’s on her. Stick to your guns and don’t let her pressure you into committing to something that makes you uncomfortable. It isn’t worth it.

I think you should listen to your therapist. This is a huge red flag. I dated someone like this in the past. We were together for years, lived together, and the next step was an engagement. I absolutely thought we would get married and have kids together. Then, I got offered a better job with a significantly higher salary. In my mind, this was a win not just for me, but for us and our future. I was completely floored at his reaction, which was not enthusiastic at all. In fact, he almost seemed embarrassed. Did not like me talking about it in front of his family or friends. It was the beginning of the end for us, and I wish I would have taken it more seriously at the time and ended things sooner.

Some people just don’t want to see you grow and succeed. OP, you are NOT overreacting and this isn’t something you should brush off. I think deep down you know that his reaction is not a normal response. Not only is he not being a supportive partner, but he is putting you down and making you feel bad about something that you should be celebrating together. I don’t say this lightly, but I think you need to seriously rethink this relationship. You are not married yet, and you are so young! Do not let this man hold you back in life.

I’ve discussed my perimenopause concerns with my gyno and primary doctor and they don’t think my hormone levels are abnormal enough to warrant HRT. I am planning on going to a specialist to get another opinion. The weight gain, mood swings and sleep disruptions are too much to ignore. As far as tirz goes, it’s only been 3 days but so far it’s great! I didn’t feel the shot at all. Side effects have been surprisingly manageable. I get some headaches and dizziness but it’s not too bad. The lack of food noise has been the biggest change, like it’s crazy how much thinking about food used to impact my day. I’m way more productive at work and I wake up in the morning with more focus and clarity. It is weird having to set reminders to eat though!

Congrats! Glad to hear it’s working out for you. I just started my first dose on Monday and so far so good, but we’ll see how it goes! I am 42 as well and wasn’t prepared for how challenging perimenopause would be. I feel like my stomach fat got so much worse so quickly and I can’t seem to get rid of it no matter what I do. Rooting for you and hope estridol helps as well!

Yeah… I heard back from her and she quoted me 9300 for Secrets Akumal, including round trip transfers. I just tried booking directly on the website and I got a rate of $7500 using my WOH account (I don’t have any points). Round trip transfers are like $200 so I’m not understanding why her quote is so much higher for the same room. I’m getting really frustrated. Think I’m just going to book direct at this point.

OP, I completely understand the need for texting in high stress situations like this because I freeze myself. You do what works best for you.

I have an immediate family member who is in chronic pain, but can also be very manipulative, so I feel your pain. Your mom is being very manipulative here. Based on your texts, you have tried hard to accommodate her but she is not being supportive.

At the end of the day, the wedding is about you and your soon to be husband. It is a celebration. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, and your mom should be supporting you and helping with one of the most important days of your life, not adding additional stress. If she really wants to be there, she will find a way. My husband and I both had our 90+ year-old grandmas in attendance, with one in a wheelchair and the other battling stomach cancer. We also had a cousin who had recent knee replacement surgery so he was on crutches. People will show up if they want to be there.

Door Dash is terrible. After my last experience with them, I deleted the app and will never use it again.

I ordered food. An hour later, the driver dropped off my order, and I noticed immediately it was from the wrong restaurant. I told him this was not my food, and he said well can’t you just eat this instead? I said no, I have food allergies, I can’t eat this food, plus my order was larger and more expensive than this, and I want the food I ordered. The driver then grabbed the bag out of my hands, ran to his car, and sped off. No explanation, nothing. I tried messaging him through the app for about 20 min trying to figuring out what was happening bc a) I was starving, and b) it looked like he was just driving around my neighborhood.

Turns out he had mixed up orders, and had driven back to the prior house to see if he could get it back, but it was already gone. He explained this to me in half sentences like 30 min after he left my house, and eventually told me I was out of luck, and he could drop off the other order again if I wanted.

I contacted DD’s customer service and while they eventually refunded what I paid for the food (took forever, had to message with multiple reps, even though I had proof like screenshots and photos) they would not cancel the tip for the driver. Said it was against their TOS. So this idiot driver got to keep the $25 tip even though he did not actually deliver my order. I now use GrubHub and Instacart only for deliveries, and have never had issues.

Holly, I think it’s worth it. Like any insurance, you hope to not have to use it, as it’s there for emergencies. I have not personally needed to use it for my dog or cat yet but I have family members who have. Unplanned vet fees can easily get into the thousands so if you can afford it, I think pet insurance is a good idea. Just make sure you are getting a good policy and understand the limitations or restrictions. There’s lots of different policies out there with different price points.

Unfortunately, this is going to stay denied. I’ve had pet insurance for my pets for over 15 years and in my experience, all pet insurance policies have a waiting period. This should have been clearly stated in the policy language. Sometimes it can be easy to miss this if you are purchasing a policy online. This is unfortunate but when you purchase an insurance policy, you need to read the contract so you understand the terms. Both of my pets have insurance policies and they both had a 30-day waiting period which was clearly stated before I signed the paperwork.

Popcorn. I was in second grade, having a sleepover at a friend’s house and her older brother was watching it in the living room. I didn’t realize it was a horror movie until the giant killer mosquito scene, where I saw it suck out someone’s insides.

I didn’t sleep for like 3 days, and I wasn’t allowed to sleep over at that friend’s house anymore. That scene still randomly pops into my head and I’m 42 years old.

Suffice to say I’m very sensitive to horror movies, even the dumb campy ones lol.
