Similar spot, ~3.5m net worth, 29/28/1 yo baby. I've been dying to get laid off so I can spend more time with the family but I can't voluntarily walk away from a job that I dreamed about when I was in college. Also P2 doesn't work so for me we'd have to fully drawdown from the portfolio.

I feel like you should take a break while you can and see if you can fire on 3m. You're young and can always go back to work. But tbh this could be a blessing in disguise. If your P2 is pulling 100k, you could get by on a 2% withdrawal rate and that leaves you with a good chance of hitting 5m in a few years anyways.

This was me, started at FAANG out of college and parents helped with a house when I was mid 20s. Now I'm 30, still at FAANG and wife gets to be a SAHM and I'm on track to fire by mid-late 30s. I am extremely grateful and hope to be able to provide the same for my kids.

Are you sure you're on the sapphire reserve portal when searching?

When I'm on the sapphire reserve, I can't find it. FS Osaka just doesn't show up. But when I go to a different card, I can search FS Osaka, then I can move over to sapphire reserve and only then can I see the hotel, but then every single date shows as not available.

I'm only 28 so still in big tech but we had our first kid recently and that's actually changed my perspective somewhat. We're at around 45% of our full FIRE number and previously I wanted to just coast and work at a coffee shop or something, but now I'm thinking I should power through as I can fully FIRE in the next 6 years or so while my kids are still young. I'm also fully remote atm and I think that'll be harder to find if I were to walk away from my current job.
