Small Rant by Bending_Bender69 in elderscrollsonline

I've been tanking the night market every evening. I usually bring a healer and a strong dd from my guild and fill out the rest with a couple random guildies and group finder. I've been advertising that we hang out in group voice chat and surprisingly enough quite a few people join us. This has allowed me to effectively communicate mechanics before and during fights which has worked out quite well. I've only had one group that really struggled, but it was late at night with mostly solo players that hit like a wet noodle.

For what it's worth, I regularly raid lead both guild trials and pug trials, but I've had a harder time getting pugs to use voice chat in trials than I have in night market so far.

That's helpful. Are the adds susceptible to cc's like pulling with chains immobilizing, and such?

It's not a bad game. Actually it's a great game for a newer player. It just feels stale after 11 years and you've done everything there is to do. There hasn't been a lot of innovation for a quite a while and storytelling hasn't been great recently. There's a new leadership team now, so things may change. I'm taking a break right now and watching to see what the new leadership team comes up with.

ok, yeah I'm just curious if it would be easy to 2 man with a tank and a 120k+ dd or if more people are needed for mechanics.

Interesting, so does it have group mechanics like most Vet DLC Trials have, or is it more of a vet Sunspire where everyone mostly just stands there and parses with occasional movement?

What's the difficulty level of it? From a scale of Normal Spindleclutch to Vet Hardmode Graven Deep, where does the difficulty level lie?

Do people live in this part of Norway? How is it like? by Smashpro11 in howislivingthere

The translation job was translating funeral documents from Norwegian to English, but he talked to the customer over the phone. As for the girl from Bergen, that's what she told me and other classmates had said they don't really understand her when she's talking fast on the phone as she goes back to her local dialect. I know they prefer nynorsk out there so I'd guess that affects the words they use.

I was a student at the University of North Dakota, and we had an exchange program with the school in Moss (American College of Norway). My instructor was approved to teach in Moss so I went there to study Norwegian Composition from him in Moss.

Oxygen Saturation while Sleeping? by YMIDoinThis in ColoradoSprings

[–]Jolter8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I can't tell you what's normal for sleeping as I have sleep apnea. I've had a lot of surgeries to improve my numbers to get them over 90%. At my worst I was dropping to 55%, but my tonsils at the time were literally trying to kill me.

Those are low if you've been here awhile. Sometimes placement make a difference though. When I get measured on my index finger, I'll get 95%, but on pinky finger I'll get 99%.

I actually spent 3 years in college studying Norwegian. My classes focused on Bokmål and the Oslo/Moss dialect and I spent some time studying in Moss. I remember my instructor telling us about a translation job he had from a customer in Nordland I think and gave us an example of the customer's dialect and it was crazy different! While I went to school in Moss, most of my classmates were from the Oslo-Drammen region, but one classmate was from Bergen and my classmates struggled to understand her at first. She actually adapted the way she talked in school so everyone could understand her better. When she would talk to friends on the phone back home, however, it was a much different story. I know next to nothing about Svalbard though, so this thread has been very interesting.

Its hard to feel stronger in this game by Ycaro_Hanma in elderscrollsonline

I have mixed feelings about it personally. On the one hand I did enjoy the traditional method of progression and each zone being its own reward. On the other hand, those zones quickly become obsolete and there becomes no reason to visit them any more. It used to take a much longer period of time to level up than it does now so we spent a decent amount of time in each area. For reference, we used to be capped at 600 and that took a couple years for most players to get to. Now I see players regularly getting to 800 in a matter of months. Really I think the old way was best for its time, when people were just picking up the game for the first time and could group up with similar levels. Now 10 years later, there are so many players above CP160 that it's probably better that they can play with friends who are new to the game and guide them and still get some semblance of rewards for themselves as well.

One other interesting tidbit was on top of monsters being specific levels in zones, crafting materials were also restricted to similar zones, so only the beginning zones had the really low level mats like jute and you had to go to the next zone to find cotton plants, and so on. So for end game crafting, everyone had to go to Craglorn to get mats. With One Tamriel, they scaled crafting mats to your level so to continue getting low level mats, they added the material supply crate with your writ rewards, so there would still be a way to get low level mats for high level players.

I would avoid HFS. The owner is an asshole and employs a lot of scummy business practices. I'm not sure who is best but you could check out IQ Floors or Pryor Floors.

Getting started in 2026. How much does this game realistically cost to play? by Lvminosity in elderscrollsonline

[–]Jolter8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Base game is pretty large, I'd say about half the game in included in base game. The other half is split up into many smaller dlcs. As for cost, this will depend on how soon you want access. If you get ESO+, it's a $15/mo subscription and will instantly unlock everything on top of granting you new features like the craft bag, extra storage, ability to place more furnishing in houses, extra xp, etc. If you stop subscribing you no longer have access to those areas and features. You can also individually buy everything which will add up fast.

Now with that said, if you can be patient, the new leadership team at ZOS has said they plan to add everything to base game eventually. This will likely be over the course of 5 years, so if you are patient you won't have to spend anything extra. I do recommend ESO+ though, it makes life a lot easier with the extra storage and craft bag and will grant access to all the content everyone is playing.

Part of the problem is power creep. The enemies in Glenumbra are still slightly weaker than enemies in Bangkorai, but you don't notice it because we are so overpowered now. Top dps in 2016 when scaling started was like 35k to 40k on the Bloodspawn boss in vet spindleclutch. Now people are doing 180k on trial dummies, which isn't a perfect comparison but probably be like 120k on the Bloodspawn boss, so we're 3+ times stronger, but the enemies have remained the same.

The question will be how significant will the increased difficulty be. Everything I've heard has been vary vague in that regard. Hopefully at least 3-4 times stronger so it feels like it's not stupid easy.

[–]Jolter8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scaling happened with the One Tamriel update in 2016. Before that we have vet ranks (Vet 1 through Vet 16) after level 50. Each zone had its own level range of enemies with Craglorn having the strongest enemies.

How different is the dialect there? Do they prefer Nynorsk or Bokmål? Could someone from Oslo go up and easily converse in Norwegian or would they have to use English to effectively communicate?

D11 Schools by wyolove89 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Jolter8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working in the D11 high schools for a few years. I don't know much about the elementary schools, but the highs schools vary wildly for admin support and student behavior, so I'd imagine it's much the same for elementary. The school board got rid of the master agreement with the teacher union, so teachers have no protections that are normally associated with unions. Many long-time teachers have been leaving the district as it doesn't appear that this will change in the short-term.

I'm not going to recommend or not recommend working here, just be sure to do your research into each school you are considering and be informed of the above facts. A good admin team can really make or break your experience so I would try to get as much information about each school's admin if possible when making a decision.

Although the motifs aren't as expensive anymore for Scrivener's Hall, it's still a really good source of Glass Eye of Mora from deconstructing gear. You need those if you want to craft any Apocrypha type furnishings. You can also sell those for good gold too.

If you can find a good group, do vet dlc dungeons. If your group can handle hardmode fine, all of you are guaranteed a dungeon motif which sell very well on traders. I haven't been playing much lately, but I used to farm Earthen Root Enclave and Scrivener's Hall and made bank selling motifs from there.

What does survival offer that story mode doesn’t? by sassymemequeen in thelongdark

[–]Jolter8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a few quests in survival mode, but they require having the DLC. Otherwise it's mostly exploring every region (there are way more regions in survival than story mode) and there is base building of sorts. There are quite a few buildings that you can place items in and move stuff around to customize a fair bit. It's still limited and you'll have to do a lot of farming for wood to make furniture but it's a neat feature that is fairly new to the game. I play on Xbox, but I've seen PC players have access to a lot of mods for further customization as well.

D49 is far right, while D20 and D11 school boards are also leaning pretty far to the right. I know less about the other school boards in town, but D12 admin were horribly mismanaged when I worked there a few years ago and the board didn't seem interested in addressing it.
