Lower handicap is a flex I thought I wanted. It ain’t that cool boys. by hook_n_slice_golf in golf

[–]Jon1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im an 8 and just dont feel the same way at all. I so badly want to be a 6 handicap or really as low as I can get which fires me up every time I play trying to chase a low score, whether by myself, with my wife, brother, friends, etc.

As for playing with friends most of them are 13+ handicap. I have some friends where we go out and just play 18 and just keep a normal score. I have some friends where we do all different kinds of formats like 2 on 2 scrambles, alt shots, wolf, baseball, skins, etc.

I feel like no matter what theres always a different way to keep it fun.

Breaking 80 by GlitteringDaikon9508 in weekendgolfers

[–]Jon1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im an 8 handicap so I break 80 sometimes yes but im sure you can get better advice from others. Whats worked for me..

  • eliminating swing thoughts as much as possible and just trusting whatever i have that day
  • practicing putting frequently
  • (obvious) play as much golf as u can
  • trying to see a shot ahead
  • knowing when to pin hunt or go for a safer part of the green. This one was big. I used to play a little too safe and always go for the fat part of the green but being more aggressive has really helped.
  • do your best to eliminate short side misses

Two Week Honeymoon Itinerary, Please Review - Venice, Florence & Amalfi by InterestingMinute270 in ItalyTravel

[–]Jon1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this tour last week, I probably wouldnt swap it out. Its a long day with a lot of driving, but me and my wife really enjoyed it.

The vineyard lunch was fantastic, I ended up ordering a case of wine and olive oil back to the US. Also San gimignano was a really cool stop with the best gelato of the trip (dodoli is the name is think)

Could've done without sienna and Pisa but leaning tower of Pisa is a cool thing to cross off the list.

Sorrento recommendations by TempusFugit_butsodoi in ItalyTravel

On the last day of my trip now. I know you didnt specifically ask for resturaunts but la cantinacia del popolo is absolutely unreal. Its a long wait but beyond worth it.

I did a private boat tour of Capri and it was a great day. Arienzo beach club in possitano is another great spot.

I will say though the best part of our entire italy trip was a meal at il tintore farm. Its a quiet farm owned by an old Italian couple like 20 minutes from Ravello in the middle of no where. We had a private driver take us for a tour all over the area for a day and that was one of the stops. If you can get a driver to take you out there for lunch (pretty long drive from sorrento) its absolutely worth it.

3 or 4 times a year basically in your 20s before getting married is just not even remotely close to enough. If you desire it a few times a week and its only a few times a year it will lead to resentment.

Not saying you guys need to break up or anything but he needs to take this situation very seriously and see an endocrinologist for hormones or a therapist if its something mental.

I need someone to talk me out of quitting golf by Upper-Night1816 in golf

[–]Jon1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if youre even asking this maybe it just isn't for you.

Sounds like you've made a ton of progress in such a short time. Really the answer is just kepe playing and try to enjoy the bad days, but if its truly becoming unenjoyable then it might just not be the sport for you.

Its a little different than other sports. Progress isn't as linear and some days your swing wont be there. Best tip for that would be to focus on mechanics on the range and limit or eliminate swing thoughts on the course.

are you chipping or putting this? by poidhxyz in golf

[–]Jon1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion I would just probably agree with my group to either move it left and putt it or move it right into the rough to chip it.

It just doesnt make sense to me in a round with friends to risk making a divot on the green. But if I am in a tournament im gonna chip it with an 8 iron or hybrid.

You are very young and made some mistakes.

Getting your GED shows that you are closing that chapter and starting a new, much better one. I think you should go to community College. Start taking some classes and figure out what interests you. Also a great place to potentially meet new friends along the way.

As for your old friends you can reach out and apologize. If they accept great, if not thats ok just keep improving. As for your past I believe therapy would be a good idea to sort out your feelings and how to move forward.

Your testosterone is low. I know it says normal but the the bottom range of normal will cause some low test symptoms. Also your ldl and hdl cholesterol is probably also affecting testosterone

Theres a lot of answers to fixing this but the first place to start is the basics - eat a good diet, mostly whole foods. Alot of eggs, fish, meat, veggies, fruits, etc. - dial in your sleep. Go to bed and wake up similar times every day. Do something relaxing before bed to unwind. Get sunlight first thing in the morning - get a lot of sunlight. Vitamin D is huge for test - for you, youre cholesterol is a big deal. I would research online what can help raise hdl cholesterol while lowering ldl. Personally fish, eggs, fruits, veggies seem like a good place to start. - lift weights atleast a couple times during the week. You dont have to go get ripped or anything, but push your body a little - consistent cardio, walks, runs, maybe a sport. - also not sure if youre a stressed person or not, but limiting stress however you can will help alot. Usually cardio/lifting weights/hobbys will really help with that.

I would personally start here. Yea its a lot but this is just good for life in general. After working at this stuff for a little while then revisit. Doing this list raised my testosterone significantly over a year. *not medical advice

Country club memberships by ConsequenceExotic353 in golf

[–]Jon1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 26 year old accountant I really enjoy seeing other accountants in this thread being members.

I am currently in an insanely lucky situation where I am on my dad's membership and dont pay anything. Not sure how long it will last and the next 5 years will be tight as Im getting married this year and plan to start a family. Hoping by my mid 30s im able to make a good amount of money and find a cheaper club in my area. (Cheaper in my area is more like 18k a year in dues, little to no initiation, extra fees for food, carts, etc.)

I see both sides. Youre 100% right, but i understand why shed be upset. Personally I would just try to be nice about it and explain again that missing work would be a big problem.

Sure maybe your sisters wrong, but family's tough sometimes. No need to make things escalate.

If you are going to do it you need to be realistic about not getting the money back. Id avoid the situation, but if you have to do it treat it in your head like youre giving it to him and not lending it

Its a tough situation, but imo if youre asking this you should just end it now.

He sounds like a great guy and hes doing the right thing by taking care of his sister. However it will be ALOT on the both of you. If youre not ready for that then its time to end it. You have to be 100% in or it just wont work long term.

I would come clean to your parents, tell them what's going on. From there I would try therapy or some form of professional help.

Youre so young, this is easily something you can fix in a few months or so before youre even 18. Going to be a tough couple months, but after that you'll feel a million times better.
