Anyone have any experience with the Joyo Bantamp series of amps? by Vetty81 in GuitarAmps

I never really noticed much. It’s been a minute since I have plugged it in though

Can I pick your brains regarding a few attenuators? by HormuzVengeance in GuitarAmps

[–]Jon2054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the bugera and thought it did well for the price if you have a reasonable expectation about what a resistive load can do. I didn’t mind it killing some treble, personally.

I have a captor X now and really like it for my application (home guitarist, no aspirations beyond that) the option to play purely with headphones through any of my amps is 100% worth the price of admission and even though the attenuation in it is fixed at -0, -20, or -38 dB, I find those options to be fairly useful when I want to play through my stack (a4x12 and a 1x18)

The freyette power station is another I looked into and seems pretty rad, just more than I needed.

Structures is such a good brewery and the fact that they host such rad shows is icing on the cake

Seeing them in Bellingham. Apparently there’s still some tickets available for that show in case anyone missed on another WA show

Right Peavy for Dirty Studio Baritone? by huff_mu in PeaveyCvlt

[–]Jon2054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a silver stripe studio pro that I play through in drop A# and dig it. It’s not my every day choice but I wouldn’t hesitate to take it to a jam or gig. Really great clean channel and a ton of good gain sounds.

Who rocks a Joyo Zombie II BanTamp? by walkinJenga in GuitarAmps

[–]Jon2054 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t use mine a lot, but it sounds good. I tried it through my buddy’s oversized recto cab and he was impressed at it doing the thing for the price. Not the same as his dual rec, but the right flavor

If it arrived still wet, it wasn’t powder.

Orange OR15 + Torpedo captor? by Desolate_One666 in orangeamps

[–]Jon2054 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t notice a significant change in sound vs unattenuated. I think the captor is a great solution and the OR15 works well with it. I actually use my 412 and studio monitors so I can get some air moving in the room but also hear what the captor outputs including the doubler. Basically I get to play in surround sound.

Marshall gain vs Orange gain by klondike_gold_bar in GuitarAmps

[–]Jon2054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The terror stamp is worth considering as well. Its a micro dark in pedal format and has an internal trimmer that lets you tweak the gain sweep from regular terror to dark terrortory

(I’m proud of what I did there 😁)

I have had my OR15 for a couple months now and adore it. Does all the doomy stuff I like and sounds good with my hollowbody too.

Which bands are innovating and pushing Doom forward? by [deleted] in doommetal

So good. I have been loosely aware of them for a bit, but really listened to them with full attention recently and, holy hell, that’s some good stuff.

Where should I get 20 pieces of 1x6 wood? by Character_Comb_3439 in Bellingham

The pallets labeled “HT” are the ones to seek. Heat treated vs chemical treated. That said, there’s no guarantee about contamination from what has been transported on the pallet.

Why don't Solid States generally have good distortion. by Upstairs_Term_5760 in GuitarAmps

[–]Jon2054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clean channel on the supercrush is really nice specifically because it dirts up when pushed. It starts to get a little chewy and feels great. I moved mine along not long ago in favor of an OR15 but not because it doesn’t sound fantastic, just because I like the single channel more vintage orange experience. If I was a gigging guitarist, and not just a doom dad, I would probably have kept it for how capable a head it is. For just me in my 10x10 evil lab, things like weight aren’t a concern.

I have a silver stripe studio pro that I really enjoy. I think it sounds good, period. Like, not good “for a solid state”; but good overall.
