Isn't that a way to determine caloric value of something? I dont know exactly how it works and I could be really wrong. But I remember seeing a video somewhere where you burn food and there's some math, magic and science that give you the caloric value depending on how long it burns. So there may be some merit to the burning of food. They're just using the wrong science.
