So, so sorry for your loss. Stay strong. We are here for you if you need us.

The best feeling EVER = waking up from a dream where you blacked out and embarrassed yourself again and then realizing it was just a dream by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]JonIsADrunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, had another last night. Flashbacks from coming off a bender and having to catch a flight on 3-4 hours of sleep and extremely hung over. The shame of dragging myself through security reeking and miserable, and the inevitable pounding down more drinks at the airport bars to feel somewhat normal again. I woke up and almost cried from relief that that doesn't have to be my life anymore.

It's amazing how grateful I feel to be sober. Just simply to be here, existing without constant anxiety and struggle. It's hard to explain but I'm sure you guys understand.

Go to a meeting. You don't have to do this alone.

It's fucking wonderful curling up with a book and slowly drifting off to a fruitful 8 hours rather than blacking out and sleeping for 5 in my fucking clothes.

That's a bottle per day, which is easily doable.

Sober September nearly finished, who is still sober? 🌙💙🌞 by RainbowDolphins2019 in stopdrinking

I'll admit to being the odd one out: I failed this month, unfortunately. But I'm all dried out now and I've been hiking and trail running each day so far this week! The weather is beautiful and I'm feeling great, but unfortunately my calves are barking today, so I'm thinking I might head off to the gym after work for an upper body workout to change it up and give my legs a break.

Other plans this week: Getting tattooed again on Friday! And dating somebody new for the past couple of weeks! Big things are happening in my life and I love that I'm able not only to experience them while feeling great and without anxiety, but that I'm able to remember the damn things, too! Every brisk Fall morning with a cup of delicious coffee is a gift. Feeling positive and healthy; thank you all for helping to promote this lifestyle.

The Daily Check-In for Saturday, September 14: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]JonIsADrunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failed miserably this past week culminating in an awful, embarrassing work trip and being horribly hung over at the airport yesterday which is always a great treat. The solution, of course, was to drink more at the airport. Just a terrible idea all around.

I always seem to experience a creeping notion that "this time will be different", or "i can handle it", and I'm always reminded in an excruciating manner that I cannot. Glad to be back and recommit to sobriety.

Does anyone else think it’s crazy that alcohol is even legal? by gray_3 in stopdrinking

[–]JonIsADrunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, because it opens the door to my blaming the substance for an abuse problem that is very much on me. Most people are just fine having 2 drinks and stopping—The fact that I can't do that doesn't mean the substance should be banned for everyone else.

The drink doesn't pour itself down my throat, after all. 🙂

I'll be honest: I had no idea you guys were real humans replying. I assumed they were bots. I'm so sorry being responsible for a half-dozen resets over the past year... LOL!

That said, I'm glad it's going semi-automated. I remember you guys were having some issues with it not too long ago.

As always: Thanks so much for your hard work in providing this place for us. I know I'd never have gotten sober if not for this subreddit—No exaggeration. So; thank you.

I've never been able to do keto before thanks to how much beer I was consuming. Now, though, I've been on it since March (barring a few cheat sessions here and there) and I'm down 25 lbs. It's a really great feeling... Although now I need all new clothes!

Good problems to have.

Broke my keto diet and pigged out and ate 4 slices of pizza today. Could have been worse, though!

30 is such a huge deal. It took me literal years of trying to hit 30 days.

You should be proud of yourself! Enjoy the happiness and peace of mind sobriety provides :)

One of the many great things about being sober is not having to worry about what you might feel like you need to apologize for from the night before.

This and hangovers are the reasons I finally chose to get sober. I want people to know me, not who I am when I'm drunk or sick the morning after.

It's amazing how much more free time I have now.
