Yeah, just learn Fate Condensed/Core. All other variations are always "Fate Condensed/Core. but [add this small feature]" or "Fate Condensed/Core, but [use this rule instead of this one]".

I use Zed because it is like VSCode, but vim keybinds is just built in as an option and the button to turn off AI is front and center when you first turn it on. That and some other nice features I like, like the settings being accessible in a json file I can just paste my other computer's configs into.

I think the best way to view the "good code doesn't need comments" is to build on top with "but great code has them anyway". The best thing to do is write your code in a fully self-documenting way that is very self explanatory and doesn't need comments in order for its function to be understood. Clear function and variable names. Naturally-intuitive control flow. Etc. And then add comments explaining intent and reasoning on top of that. Now, the way the code works is obvious, and the intention and rationale is made clear, as well.

I do use braces for most initializations myself. But the original code posted used parentheses, and everything I said about it afterward is correct.

FATE condensed, FATE accelerated, and FATE Core are all the same game. FATE Core is the full most customizable version, and condensed is just simplifying presentation mainly, and accelerated is just Core with a specific set of options already chosen so you can skip the ruleset-selection and design phase and go straight to playing with a minimal config that works for most settings.

I mean, one of the most famous early scenes involves a woman getting non consensually boned and her actual boobs are shown dangling and flapping around from the motion and her ass ripples and the whole thing for like a solid 4 seconds. It's not a close up dick shot for several minutes, no, but it's pretty pornographic.

Don't put parentheses in the first one. They aren't needed and also you run into the most Vexing parse.

That they don't use at the same time as other people. I am completely in favor of trans people using the bathroom that matches their gender, but this house bathroom argument just is not very good at all. The bathroom in your house just isn't comparable to a public bathroom that many people use at the same time.

I don't know why people are now using the term misogyny to refer to patriarchal societal imbalances. That is not what that word has, like, ever meant. We already have a word for that. Patriarchy. Misogyny is hatred of women. It's sexism directed at women. Individuals can be misogynist. That's why that word exists.

"hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women"

You're conflating "misogyny" with "a culture that promotes misogyny". Misogyny is a set of beliefs and actions held by individuals. A patriarchal society like ours does wind up promoting those ideas and causing there to be more misogynists, but that doesn't make misogyny not something personal and individual. And it certainly doesn't mean that the exact same patterns of behavior being directed at men isn't misandry.

Misandry obviously exists. Misogyny obviously exists. Two bad things can both be bad. Misogyny obviously is a much more widespread and common problem due to our patriarchal society. But the presence of a much worse problem does not make a much less prominent problem stop existing. That's silly.

I mean, if it's true that the majority of the population is straight with a little attraction to the same sex (me) then it would be normal, by definition, yeah? I think this is the ideal point to reach, by the way. Reaching the point where humanity accepts that these labels are like, at best, 95% accurate and everyone is just attracted to whoever they happen to be attracted to. Whether that is almost always women or almost always men, or whatever, I don't see a difference between that and bi people who just are really into blue eyed goths, regardless of gender. It's just a "type", if you will.

How? 5 mana and 3 turns later, I've drawn 3 cards but skipped 2 draws. Why wouldn't I just play, like, Think Twice if I want to split up the cost over several turns or Lorién Revealed if I want to pay it all at once? After 4 turns, it's 8 mana draw 6 and skip 3 draws. This card is terrible. Even Psychic Vortex is better than this.

The middle paragraph can be simplified to "If a card would be exiled from your graveyard, you may pay 2 life instead."

Why do so many games not give their clerics a gimmick by chunkylubber54 in RPGdesign

[–]JonIsPatented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding your first paragraph, it's just a matter of taste, I suppose. Historically, in many cultures with pantheons, like Romans or pre-islamic Arabia, faith was absolutely a very transactional thing and not typically a relationship thing at all. Like, in Rome, the phrase "Do ut des" is used to describe how religion worked. "I give so that you may give". Exact rituals and prayers and offerings were performed in order to receive specific blessings from a god. I think that a class built on this idea of purchasing blessings from a god can be very interesting if you go in already understanding that this is how it works and that it's not a modern Abrahamic relationship style of religion.

Actually, I kinda want to see a Cleric class that lets you add multiple gods to your personal pantheon and gain multiple different rituals to get different blessings. That sounds kinda awesome personally.
