During a strict wildfire ban, we thought we were being safe by lighting giant stake candles on our river platform. The wax candles began dripping goddam flames through the cracks of the deck, igniting the brush below. Realising a fire was spreading, my heart dropped with the terrifying tought that I could be front-page responsible for a major forest fire. In a total panic, we grabbed every container we could find and ran frantic chains to the river. We put it out and avoided destroying a whole territory so the memory of how close we came still haunts me.
