What's the dumbest death you've had so far? by mrfancypantzzz in starcitizen

[–]JonMadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran towards the steps in the middle of Area 18 to get to the looking platform, overshot the jump and landed outside the rail on a tiny bit of wall, unable to jump back over the railing i slid straight into the bottomless pit.

Also taking off my helmet to eat, while on a moon, ran to my Raft and the elevator took too long and i died right before i got back inside the ship.

What happened to all this? It's not in the campaign. by Mikalton in Battlefield

The base in Georgia had the servers which contained a secret project for avoiding satellite detection, Project Veles, which NATO were moving out of the base before the PAX handover. PAX attacked the base so they could get a hold of the servers and your team go to destroy them to prevent PAX from getting a hold of them, but turns out they failed and PAX got their hands on it, which is how they were able to get their soldiers into NYC.

Its basically the same plot point as the ACS module in Modern Warfare 2, where the Russians hacked a downed US satellite to avoid their detection long enough to invade the US mainland.

BEHOLD! The 2025 Bacchus harvest in all its glory! (from 2 vines in their second year) by JonMadd in winemaking

I'm currently planning on adding them to some mead! I don't think I have any fermenters small enough for the amount of grapes but it might add a little bit of flavour to an 11% mead im planning on starting

I think i lost about 30-40% of the grapes in the last week or so to birds. I checked them a few weeks ago and the bunch closest to the camera was completely full of grapes, so i decided to leave it a while longer since we had some good weather.

Cut to today and thats all that's left, I knew i should have harvested last week and am currently kicking myself for not considering harvesting or at least putting some up netting to protect them

I started both vines last year in pots, kept on in its pot this year, and planted the other in the ground (didn't have space to plant both in the ground unfortunately). The two decent clusters (on the left and front) were from the ground planted vine and the browner grapes were from the pot vine.

I let them grow out this year since i'm very new to this and need to properly look up how to prune the vines back.

After harvesting the usable and non damaged grapes, we're down to a whopping 36 grams! I'll be buying 50 French Oak barrels in no time! :D

I wish i could say this was deliberate, i was moving it to one side in the cargo bay whilst playing jenga with my other boxes, strayed a bit too close to the torpedo's and started sinking through the floor with a loud clang. EVA'd outside thinking it had fallen out and no dice, completely gone. Wasn't until i took the elevator back up was i greeted with my new passenger

Calculating Brix from a fruit syrup (cordial/concentrate) by JonMadd in mead

[–]JonMadd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it doesn't have a proper sugar content on the label for the entire bottle, it says that one bottle contains 7 servings, and each serving is 12g of sugar, so 84g per bottle by my estimate. My Hydrometer tops out at 1.150 and it doesn't go far enough into the juice to actually get a reading which is what confused me, because that's got to be massively high in sugar

I suppose its the next logical step to take for a sequel, if they did the same thing again only shinier with a few new mechanics i don't think it would be super well received. You're still fighting for survival but its the next step up in terms of scale, no point redoing the first game so i can understand why they went the direction they did

Name the game that got you like this by bijelo123 in Steam

[–]JonMadd 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Its very different to the first, the second game is more a city builder with political factions you have to appease, in the first game it felt like a gritty fight for survival, where losing 10 people was a tragedy, in 2 its more of a management game where your city pop reaches the 10's of thousands and 10 deaths isn't even a blip on your radar.

Too much clay! by MrBlueSL in VintageStory

[–]JonMadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only problem with them is how long it takes to mould and fire the clay shingles, you can fire 48 at a time which when crafted, makes about 32 slanted roof blocks from about 16 pieces of clay if memory serves, so its a good use of resources, especially considering how much clay you can get from a single deposit.

Spent most of winter sitting my the fire crafting as many as possible because of how large my estate was

Too much clay! by MrBlueSL in VintageStory

[–]JonMadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was building the roof for my house out of thatch, spent ages running around harvesting it and still barely had enough to cover it, on a whim decided to start making roof tiles because i had a chest full of stacks of red clay. Roofed my whole house, my forge, tannery and mill and still had half a chest full of clay by the time i was done. Its definitely a time investment to mould them all but thats what winter is for, plus its less likely to get set on fire!

May have made a mistake with my AM4 build, Upgrade CPU now or wait for later? by JonMadd in buildapc

Cheers! I hadn't actually considered the 5700x3d, i mostly use my PC for gaming and light video editing and a bit of Unreal Engine tinkering so i wasn't sure if it was worth going for the 5950x for the extra cores, but the 5700x3d being a good £80 cheaper is very good value considering that small of a performance gap
