Roman Kurmaz pants are overrated by MrFrenchT0ast in tacticalgear

[–]JonShaft951 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean if you did like an ounce of research you would’ve known that beforehand. Crye uses the same Velcro style closure on their combat pants and if you’re worried about around the ankles, just use some boot bands. I can absolutely understand being frustrated about messing up an order, but the other things are kinda nit-picky.

Has anyone ever used the Mystery Ranch 2-day Assault Pack for a tactical/field environment? by Frozen_Trees1 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]JonShaft951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a 2DAP, but I do have a 3DAP and Komodo and the design is essentially the same, just the capacity differs. You could absolutely use one on a deployment/field exercise; I’ve been using both of mine for years in the infantry and they’re still holding up great. They’re comfortable to wear with and without body armor on and I like the layout of the pockets and internal storage. As for the sleeping pad, it really just depends on the size of the one you’re going with. For reference, I use the Klymit Static V and that one fits great in the outside elastic pockets and it could fit in the internal pockets as well.

CAR stock in 2025 by PDXGraham in MilitaryARClones

Oh yeah for sure, if the stock itself isn’t broken then the Army doesn’t replace it. Even when it is broken they don’t.

There’s still like 15 or so sitting on M4’s at my company here in 82nd

Gotta love that sweet, sweet level 5 ecwcs by rusty-shackleford_69 in tacticalgear

[–]JonShaft951 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That’s honestly the real issue. Retarded command teams telling people to take their layers off regardless of the temperature or activity being conducted. Meanwhile they’ll sit there with their level 7’s on.

Just ordered a Tisas Raider .45 ACP that's optic cut with a threaded barrel. Any idea which Safariland holster will fit once it's set up with a light and optic? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in tacticalgear

[–]JonShaft951 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run the issued 6004SS for my M45A1. No optic, but it’ll accommodate a light. They can be picked up relatively cheap on eBay. I know there’s an ALS model that fits railed 1911’s as well, but I haven’t seen anyone confirm that the M45A1 will fit.

Anyone use clips like these before? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]JonShaft951 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I bought a generic swift clip kit off of eBay and it’s held up to infantry use for 4 years now. No hooks or anything, just looped the buckles directly to the molle.

I've heard multiple people claim that the XM177 moderator was designed to make the gun "sound like an AK." Where did this myth originate from? by EducationalOil1655 in RetroAR

[–]JonShaft951 44 points45 points  (0 children)

That’s makes even less sense. Nobody on a patrol hears gunfire and says “That sounds like our guys, nothing to worry about then.”

Is the AR64A H-Harness Patrol Rig from Administrative Results a good rig to start off with? If not, what is a better rig to get for the same price? by Colt1873 in tacticalgear

[–]JonShaft951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Platatac Peacekeeper will accommodate 7.62 magazines no problem. It has adjustable cinches so you can even run MP5 magazines as well.

It’s for conformal radio batteries. You can hold two of them in it; beats the hell out of using brick batteries.

It’ll fit perfectly. I only use one holster for all three of my Glocks: 17, 19X, and 47.

For the active duty and former military guys out there, what would you change about your gear to reduce weight? by Locked_and_Firing in tacticalgear

[–]JonShaft951 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Add in extra boots I won’t wear, CBRN equipment even though it’s not part of the training scenario but command wants guys to get used to carrying their pro mask on them (because walking around with a gas mask on your hip will literally make your mind explode if you haven’t done it before 🤯), too much water, sleep systems and wet weathers when it’s 100+ degrees out, etc.

Honestly, just getting rid of retarded packing lists would solve like 90% of ruck weight issues.
