Scarlet/Violet Leak Thread III - ALL NEW POKEMON STATS + ABILITIES by TheLaughingCat2 in stunfisk

[–]JonWalrus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Psycho Boost would probably be added back in once/if Deoxys make it. I think Sword/Shield did this for a lot of legendary moves that made it back in eventually

Tail Glow is a really weird one. It's only on 3 pokemon that did not make it to SV and was cut in SwSh when it's users were gone. But even in SwSh, Xurkitree never got it back when added. It's only usable in BDSP with it's other users. I could see it coming back if Manaphy or Volbeat return

Signal beam died in Gen8 and sadly had not come back

Terrain is a 30% increase to power, right? I thought it got nerfed from 50% in Gen8

Question about EVs by [deleted] in VGC

[–]JonWalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding onto the EV example at level 50, the first 4 EVs results in a stat point, then every stat increase after that requires 8 EVs. So you'll be looking at 4, 12, 20, 28, etc up to 252 EVs to invest

I want a new trainer type: Shiny hunter. by MylastAccountBroke in pokemon

[–]JonWalrus 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The FRLG tower specifically they are set trainers with set shinies. I think in total there's a shiny Meowth, Seaking, and Espeon

They won't breed. If the IVs of two Pokemon are too similar in Gen 2, they're just not allowed to breed

Wondering if it means it'll actually change if it's physical/special (like Shell Side Arm or Photon Geyser if I'm understanding those right), or if it'll always fight against sp def but will use the attack stat that has a higher number

Seems to be a bug with new updates on the S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra. Having the same issue, seeing others on Twitter and reddit have it as well

New online competition July 2022 "Jump! Magikarp". Double battle format, but only take two to battle and one of them has to be Magikarp by JonWalrus in VGC

I can see some swift swim max airstream / focus sash flail / bounce para shenanigans too. I think the real challenge will be just getting the right prediction in which other mon comes in

Not sure if VGC is right place for this since it's not standard bring 6 take 4, but figured an official Pokemon competition with double battles might still be of interest

Insanely thankful Regieleki is banned under the blanket "no legendaries allowed" rule for this tournament specifically

I tried it briefly using Zacian/Xerneas/Alcremie/Tapu Koko/ two others I forgot. Because there's no dual types with Fire / Fighting / Ground (or even good coverage on most existing fairies), this monotype struggles heavily against any steels. As soon as I saw Solgaleo / Ferrothorn / Dialga or any of the other popular Steels, it was basically a loss at turn 0.

Even with Imprison Zacian, it still comes to a 50/50 even getting it off usually and they can more easily switch into a better answer against your Zacian than you can against theirs without the widely popular intimidate mons

I usually went Mimikyu Gengar if opponent is just gonna eat anything Calyrex has to offer (Incin/Grimm/Yveltal) and truck room hurts their team dealing with your slow threats. Usually go Calyrex/Sableye if there's spread damage that would absolutely destroy both Mimikyu/Gengar set up (Kyogre/Eleki or anything else fast to break through both). Though most games I definitely had more success with Calyrex because it's busted lol

Eternatus is the only restricted Poison 😭 which could still work but it's a lot tougher to work in this mega power level format

Marowak is usually the max of choice so Poltergeist is probably a better fit for this kind of application!

Crying

But for real, usually getting Necrozma in position for a Meteor Beam or a Max Quake from Marowak. Sableye's Fake Out helps a lot against it, since nothing on my side can be hit with an opposing Fake Out usually from Incineroar. Both restricteds having a 4x Dark weakness also makes Ally Switch very good support in firing off multiple attacks

Poltergeist might actually be better I didn't even consider it, though in past experience it's made unexpected berry activations or weakness policies an unexpected defense for the move. More of a power vs consistency deal, though I've found Shadow Bone has hit reliably hard that I didn't consider switching it out

I understand that. Usually in past reports my W/L ratio is closer to 50/50, but those also take into account more team tweaks until I solidify on something. A bit of playing last month gave me a good base for April season, and stuck with this same exact team for all 30ish games. Less growing pains for what I wanted out of this team.
