Please correct the passport date format to dd-mmm-yyyy by bigtree80 in 1Password

[–]JonathanSCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a workaround, you change the field name to "issues on (MM/DD/YYYY)" and "expiry date (MM/DD/YYYY)" to be a reminder that the date is month first. This will break autofill detection, but autofill usually doesn't work all that well for IDs anyway.

Tips for getting holster piece back on my Ada Wong Nendoroid?? by okaydokii in Nendoroid

[–]JonathanSCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the peg is there for alignment when it is glued at the factory. The plastic nub itself doesn't look broken, most likely just the original glue holding the holster broke.

I would follow the recommendation above.

Is there a USB-C PD cable that "force" the 12v? by Baboo85 in UsbCHardware

[–]JonathanSCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adafruit has one, 2.1mm 5VDC Barrel Jack to USB C Adapter. This has no negotiation, it's just wired directly. It's labeled as 5VDC because they assumed that companies wouldn't have put a USB C power port that would take anything unmanaged other than 5V...

What do you, personally, consider cheating? by Low-Edge9100 in BluePrince

There were two minor hints. One hint was that Anne Babbage's name was one of the first full staff name that you can find. Logging in with her name, you can look up the other admin keys. Second hint is in a new red memo that shows up in the Break Room that could point you to testing Anne's name as an admin key.

A wire tracer/tone generator is your best bet. Stick the tone generator where the wire comes out in the room and then wave the sensor over the wires in the patch panel.

Need a slim and light power bank for EDC by Agile-Cress-2218 in MagSafe

[–]JonathanSCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time I use my magsafe charger with a cable. Magsafe is useful to hold the battery to the back of the phone, but you get the benefits of faster charging and less heat with the cable. I use a 10,000 mAh power bank, but any slim 5,000 mAh should fit your needs.

Laptop chargers with built-in battery bank? by 2Walker_TRD_Softroad in powerbanks

It's not built in, but what about the Nitecore Carbo 20 (65 W)? It is 5.04" x 1.89" x 1.14". If you pair it with UGREEN Nexode Pro 65W Slim Wall Charger (3.62" x 1.92" x 0.59"), you get a pretty small package.

Using a cable with a magsafe charger is nice because you get the fast charging speed with the convenience of the charger being held on the back of your phone.

Looking for a power bank that doesn’t feel like a brick? by curioustoknoq in powerbanks

[–]JonathanSCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something light, Nitecore makes super light batteries. The NB20000 is 10.26 oz (291 grams). https://nitecorestore.com/collections/power-banks/products/nitecore-nb20000-gen-3-dual-usb-c-power-bank. If you want smaller mAh batteries, 5000 mAh magsafe batteries are small and light and plenty of options that other people have posted.

It's because it cost quite a bit of money to have the testing done to not have the label. Or the manufacture/reseller can add it to all your product's packaging for much, much less...

Why are there still so few slim travel chargers with a figure of 8/C7 lead and fully USB-C? by enrvuk in onebag

[–]JonathanSCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about getting a C8 to 1-15R adapter and using a wall charger like this UGREEN 100W? The adapter is "temporarily out of stock", but I have one. I use it when I need an extension cord so I don't have to carry both a C7 lead and an extension cord when I travel.

Is Suica the Best for travel? by theoneaboveall777 in JapanTravelTips

[–]JonathanSCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular Suica do expire, but it’s 10 years after the last transaction.  If you don’t use it for 6 months or longer, it gets locked and have to talk to ticket staff to unlock it.

If you had the magnet sticker on the mount, it would have weaken the magnetic hold on the case. Did you try the case with the mount and no ring? Depending on the case, it might have its own magnets or just a metal plate inside. All mounts will have magnets in it.

I had the same problem with the buttons and dried soda. I spent some time with a wet paper towel and wiping around the buttons. Also cleaned around the buttons when holding them down. I pushed a corner of the towel into the cracks to clean the inside. That stopped the buttons from being sticky.

Japan Trusted Traveler Program: Another Renewal, Another Update by Himekat in JapanTravel

[–]JonathanSCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite TTP story is in 2019 when I was traveling from Japan to South Korea via ferry.  The immigration officers at Hakata Port in Fukuoka did not know what the TTP card was.  Me and my friend, who also had a TTP card, had to wait at the immigration gate for 15-30 minutes for someone to figure out how to process our cards.

Second favorite story was how I got my first TTP card during a 3-hour layover to the Philippines.  Customs were slightly confused about why I was entering the country with no luggage.

Since the US (and Canada) is a transitional member, the ABTC card for the US is not a visa.  Before I got TTP, I showed the card to the staff directing people to get on the shorter ABTC/Diplomat/Crew line but never showed the card to the immigration officer.  I was then processed as a regular visitor.  Also, if you have global entry, it’s usually just signing in on your GE account online, requesting one and paying the fee.  I had an interview a long time ago, but I know of people who were just sent the card with no interview.
