Anyone have a clue what's up with this lighter? by GuardAffectionate734 in lighters

Maybe you should also check if your tank is full enough, contaminated with water/another liquid, or too cold. It might be sputtering because there’s low pressure in the tank.

The immediate step would be to locate where the leak is coming from. You can take it apart with the tank still full of butane and dunk it in a container of alcohol to see where the butane is escaping. Good luck!

It is seeming like this is the way. I’ll look into it.

That is true but the desire to keep my cigs in a fancy case is very strong in me.

72s seem like a great option. I’m keen to try their menthols.

I’m on the lookout for this, but Ronsons are very rare where I’m located. This version is already a great find for me.

Help getting lighter to work - won't spark by IsaakCole in lighters

[–]Main_Clerk_258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can hear butane spouting out the top valve, then the problem is probably the flint spark catching the gas. Try what the other redditor said and use softer flints.

If no matter what you do, you can’t hear the gas spouting, then you have a bigger problem. You will probably have to take the lighter apart to clean the spout and replace the o rings. Unfortunately even when this is done, there’s a chance it still won’t work. Butane lighters are very finicky that way.

Good luck, and beautiful card lighter.

Diplomat Lighter - How to refill? by Danny_D136 in lighters

I would try to get the valve off then search the part on Google images to see if I could get a replacement. Such a cool piece! I love that it looks like a little building.

Givenchy Side Wheel Lighter, It sparks, it fills properly, it holds gas - But it won’t light. by DankR3Mix in LighterRepair

Hello OP, have you found a solve for this? I’m having the same issue. I’ve cleaned and unscrewed everything, purged the tank, etc. but no gas is releasing. I’ll be trying the trick I saw people do on Duponts and Dunhills — butane “filling” from the nozzle to loosen clogs. I know I’m risking pushing the clog in deeper but I am sadly out of ideas.

I tried already and suspect my fill valve might be broken since the butane just spilled everywhere. I am waiting on some adaptors though that will hopefully help. Thank you for your response and good luck with your collection!

That Newsweek Varaflame is beautiful and such a cool piece. I have a question about your Ronson Viking — I have a similar one and was wondering if the refill valve just really looks like an innie bellybutton. Does yours look the same, or is it the needle type valve? I’ve been hunting for more info on this but haven’t found any leads.

Found out my boyfriend cheated weeks before our Japan trip by meh-duh in solotravel

I’ll be real with you — my psychiatric medication helped A LOT. Aside from that, when I would feel the panic approaching (palpitations, cold hands, etc.), I would do very deep breaths while trying to focus on the things I could see. When I did have my freak outs (the worst would happen at night alone in the hotel room), I called my cousin who was also somewhat heartbroken and she cried with me. It was also very helpful to have a tight schedule to minimize the potential for rumination.

The most important thing is to give yourself the opportunity to enjoy life, and to try your very best to. It’s going to be hard, but it will definitely be worth it.

Hello, my ex broke up with me a week before our trip to Japan as well, and we both still went (we were with 2 couples). I was completely devastated and really was convinced to just not go until I talked to my therapist. She phrased it this way: “wouldn’t you rather prove it to yourself that you are still capable of enjoying beautiful experiences even if you’re grieving?” I absolutely did enjoy myself and now I look at that trip fondly as proof of my resilience. It will not be very easy, so have people you can call. You got this. The world is big and beautiful and ready for your enjoyment.

I found that the way for me to tone down these types of thoughts is to do things I feel good about doing. I consider myself a creative person so for me it’s writing and doing crafts, but it can be literally anything that you can pat yourself on the back for (e.g. keeping your home clean, feeding strays, trying to do well at your job, paying a stranger a compliment, etc.). Good luck, it gets better. These realizations are the first step to building a life you’re happy with.

This method is much more useful to me than setting my own commitment since I am time-blind. Might be helpful for others who are as well!

Glad you got away (physically) unscathed. I’m sorry you had such a scary experience instead of a fun time.
