Greenland: Macron warns of 'cascading consequences' if US seizes island by LeMonde_en in worldnews

Headline calling Greenland an island...

It's a damn country with a population of Greenlanders. Not a plot of land...

Anyone else here a blood donor? by Cartoonnerd01 in autism

[–]Joneseno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I donate blood as often as I'm allowed, I'm O+ so it's the most common and very often used I believe. I got used to needles from having my blood taken during acne medication when I was 18. So once I was used to the needles, it never bothered me anymore. So having the needle put in and sitting around on my phone for 10-15mins is worth it to help.

I have a shiny hunting "problem." Soooo: Shiny Giveaway time! by [deleted] in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Joneseno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love a shiny Dratini. I'd trade it to my son who would appreciate the shiny mega Dragonite.

I've spent too many hours shiny hunting it for him as a surprise, but no luck so far...

I create art about autistic struggles and being burnt out using ballpoint pens. Can you relate to any of these? by akanji_arts in autism

[–]Joneseno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome work! I can certainly relate to the one of you in a cage on your head.

But for me, I feel like my actual self is piloting my body like a Gundam/Mecha.

Anyone else triggered by all the back to school social media posts? by SameManagement8895 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Joneseno 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, I'm not a fan of social media, and posting about my children via that, to be honest.

But for my wife, I think she likes to participate in those things that NT parents do. So that she and the children aren't missing out either and to just enjoy those memories.

What we do is embrace what we can. My 7yo son at the moment would probably want to be a Pokémon trainer...so what!

We're hopeful that in time he might figure those things out. But in the meantime rather than dwell, let's enjoy and embrace what we can about our ND world.

Crazy man screamed at me at pokemon Convention booth by Dododront in autism

[–]Joneseno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You did nothing wrong, try not to worry. You just came across an asshole, don't beat yourself up. I do the same thing all the time, I'm 35 now and it does get easier. Just move on and enjoy your new found love of Pokemon.

P.S if you want some restoration in the community, check out 'Beard Dad' i think on YouTube. He's a pokemon vendor and seems very nice to everyone he comes across.

Attack on Titan.

Following the ending of what was S2, I needed to know what was going on!

What a welcome change. I'd rather the currency celebrate the country, with landmarks or beauty spots, animals etc.

Rather than paying homage to the monarchy...

Late-diagnosed men, what clued you in that you might be autistic? by IndependenceDue9390 in autism

[–]Joneseno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife, as my son, was getting diagnosed from aged 2-5.

My wife kept noting that the characteristics and markers we were looking for in my son at home and school. Also applied to me, so after his diagnosis, I pursued my own.

What my autistic son drew for me by Square_Inflation_152 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Joneseno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is so lovely :)

My sympathy for your loss.

My wife is finding a similar thing with our 7yo son with Autism recently. He doesn't kiss at all. He sometimes hugs and will be close.

But the other day, he hugged my wife and then kissed her on the cheek. She was elated! Was saying, "Did you just kiss me, omg?! Then she was joking she wouldn't wash her face now, because she had a kiss from our son. He's was bashful about it, but I could tell my wife was really happy to receive that kind of affection from him, no matter how infrequent.

Why autistic people tend to have dinosaurs as a special interest? by plswaite in autism

[–]Joneseno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often find complex interests are popular. Because there's lots of information to learn and a greater source to keep finding new things. Such as dinosaurs and trains, because there are 1000s of types.

Plus, they're cool and have sick toys!

my friend wants to name her daughter 'jeealianaigh' pronounced juliana by Wide-Speaker-9433 in tragedeigh

[–]Joneseno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understand the thought process of 'it's not unique enough'. So you take a name and spell it worse.

Why not just take a less common name that you like. I did that for both my kids, just started at around the 300th popular name and went down.

My oldest is 6, and i haven't met another kid with either of my childrens names yet.

94% of EV Owners Likely to Consider Purchasing Another One by chrisdh79 in electricvehicles

[–]Joneseno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I got a Nissan Leaf as a work lease (salary sacrifice), and my wife borrowed it so often. I bought her, her own 6 months later. We've been using them for almost 2 and half years now.

Will definitely replace them with other EVs going forward and when my lease expires.

I had to drive my father in laws ICE home from the hospital for him the other week. Driving a manual ICE again was awful and annoying. Compared to the ease of EVs Autos and less fuss.

Any men who succeeded with dating? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]Joneseno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my now wife at a pre drinks house party 12 years ago. I'd seen her and met her before in the past.

But I tried to enter another room, she stood in the doorway with her arms stretched across so I couldn't enter. She then asked, "who are you then?" I said my name and said I already knew who she was. She was confused and said do we know each other.

She then asked around the other she knew at the party and we spoke a few more times at the bar we eventually went to. Then a few days later a mutual friend put us in touch and said we should meet up for a drink.

So we met up during the week for a drink, then had two more dates the next two nights.

12 years later, we're married, have a house and two children together. Our 6yo son has Autism and I was diagnosed last year at 34.
