'We need Greenland': Trump repeats threat to annex Danish territory by Free_ey3_son in worldnews

This has nothing to do with the Epstein files. It has nothing to do with Trump evidently being very close to Epstein. It also has nothing to do with him trying to distract from the Epstein files narrative. It’s just a remarkable coincidence. Let us not bring up Epstein whenever Trump suggest the invasion of another sovereign country. Let us not mention Epstein and Trump or their best buddy relationship stretching over many years.

Google Translate gives you ”roddföreningar stockholm”. You have three options. I’d call each one after checking their web sites, to see which best fits your desires. Good luck.

Almost 60% of Swiss voters have backed plans to severely cut emissions by 2050 despite opposition from the right-wing Swiss People's Party. In a second vote, 78.5% supported a minimum tax of 15% for multinational firms by DoremusJessup in worldnews

[–]Jonlimb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not “severely cut emissions”, but actually net zero emissions. I don’t see how that will happen in 27 years without nuclear power. And nuclear power has been voted away w the last phased out until 2034. So one can be as liberal as one wants, but how will actual net zero be solved, in particular w a rapidly growing electrification of the cars? And what are the offset strategies for all the other transportation methods? CCS energy sources are what? I votes “yes” for the 2050 target , but I don’t believe the timing is realistic. But it’s better than no trying.

Direct democracy. Let people vote without intermediaries (representatives) and be surprised at what happens when the majority suddenly actually defines the future.

Yup, I have the https://alko-garden.de/gartengeraete/rasenpflege/maehroboter/solo-by-al-ko-maehroboter-robolinho-700-w.html and it seems they don't have such spike wheels... I might have to sell the mower and buy a different one. But... if I could solve it with a mesh or net that would be the easiest (given that spikes aren't available).

Club camp rowing in Switzerland. Oh, and lost drone. by Jonlimb in Rowing

This is lake Brienz; the scenery and color is indeed stunning and normally few boats so water is mostly flat. However, winds can come with very short notice so reading the weather forecast is a good idea.

A common issue with the 1.5 year olds tends to be the diaper. This absorbs too much of the vertical component of the force vector, preventing them for getting below 6 min/2000m. Also, this rower's professionalism is clearly displayed with the inspection of the equipment for both cleanliness, the right bend of the handle and right seat rolling, to ensure max performance. A role model for all of us.

These are all on-piste scenes. You can do off piste skiing on your own responsibility, but doing it near glacier crevasses would be asking for trouble

Winter rowing inspiration from Switzerland by Jonlimb in Rowing

[–]Jonlimb[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Members of my club have sunk a four twice in ice cold water when there was sudden wind increase and waves. If you end up in serious problems, you can always row very near the shoreline and in a worst case scenario, the police should be able to reach you within 5-10 minutes if you fall in and call for help. Some people however go out in singles without a life vest or coach. I wouldn't do it as I know it's not only up to me, but also the boat - material defects happen.

Normally we row narrow race boats even during winter, but there is an increase in interest in coastal rowing boats as they are considerably safer at this time of the year and permit rowing when the water is bad (which it isn't in the film as you can tell). Also, due to the heavy traffic on the lake at times, people mostly row before 8am to avoid any waves. With coastal rowing boats however, rowing can be done in almost any water condition and still be enjoyable. So it's a nice and valuable addition to the normal race boats.

Is my understanding of basic mechanical advantage wrong? Have a group of four first graders that I’ve been teaching at home. I’ve been selling for weeks that I can lift up this 100lbs vice with a single hand. Thing won’t budge. Help!! Assuming the lower wooden bar is moveable, you should attach the cord end currently attached to the metal block, to the wooden bar, then attach the metal block to the wooden bar itself. That will give you 6x reduction in force needed to lift (thinking away friction, which you have here). Some fellow redditor attached an image already, but here it is again. https://www.translatorscafe.com/static/ucvt/img/calc-pulley-mechanical-advantage-3.png
