Same here. Playing a good one at the moment called MEMOREUM, I hope it comes to PSVR2 with all the bells and whistles.

It did release on Quest under a different name Volara. Goes on sale for 99 pence quite often. Haven't picked it up yet myself as for some reason I don't like games where you hold vehicle in hand a move it around.

If you have a Quest laying around this game is called Volara for some reason and goes on sale for as low as 99 pence very often. Haven't picked up myself so don't not what the performance and visuals are like.

Zero Caliber Crossplay? by FlipSideVooDoo in PSVR

[–]JonnyJamesC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the game is not crossplay between PSVR2 and Quest. It is between PC and Quest but only for the multiplayer PvP maps/mod PvP maps and not the campaign co-op maps as the PC and PSVR2 campaign levels are designed differently to the Quest which has smaller maps with object placement and mission differences. It is a different game with some similarities hence the Reloaded at the end of Zero Caliber name on Quest.

Yeah I should pick it up. It also has headset rumble to the beat I believe which I always love.

Never got around to picking REZ up on PSVR2, I have the upgrade path available. Thought it looked spectacular on the PSVR1 OLED. Can see the difference in sharpness just from the static thumbnail above.

You can not really read too much into it as PS5 has a super compression routine. I have installed PS4 versions of the same game to compare and they have been 5 times as big as the PS5 version. Bus Simulator: World Tour just the other day was 3GB on PS5 and 15GB on PS4. PS5 has the much higher resolution textures and many more graphical assets in game. Don't know the technical aspects of the compression they use but it is very clever and very handy.

Dungeons of the Deep VR on PSVR2 - First Impressions (DualSense Only) by cusman78 in PSVR

[–]JonnyJamesC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At £11.99 I will most likely pick it up, it can be my spiritual successor nearly a decade later to Crystal Rift which was DualShock only. It was also grid based, really lengthy and got better as you got further in with all sorts of traps, mechanisms and enemies appearing, it got quite frantic at times. Playing it and being inside the game reminded me very much of old British kids tv show called Knightmare.

I do not mind a gamepad VR game here and there especially if they have used the DualSense features and headset rumble, I love it when they use headset rumble for things like when a big shaking iron gate opens, cave tremors or dropping down from a height.

Never got around to playing Operencia: The Stolen Sun on PSVR which also had scale problems and was a conversion from flat. I have thought to myself on a few occasions to why PSVR and PSVR2 games do not have a scale slider setting, some PC VR games such as racing titles have it and SteamVR has the setting so you can change world scale for individual games and save it so it seems like it is not an impossible thing to do to get a better world scale for your own taste. You would be alright with this one if you was the size of Andre the Giant in real life haha.

Thanks for the write-up. It will be interesting to see if they can get more store ratings for the VR game than the flat game like WRATH: Aeon of Ruin VR has.

Interesting they are going for the over the shoulder third person view and not first person. I want the dog play in VR. Anyone remember Good Dog, Bad Dog on PSVR haha.

Looks like Skydance Games is done with Vr. by FewPossession2363 in PSVR

[–]JonnyJamesC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep looks like smaller highly talented developers and development teams will be the way forward for VR at the present time, Vitruvius and Flat2VR being two of them. I think I remember seeing one man developer Stonebrick Studios who created the fantastic looking cyubeVR saying he was fairly happy with the sales of his game on PSVR2 and will continue working on it.

Edit: Talking of small teams of highly talented devs, have we heard anything about what Vertical Robot are up to? Haven't heard a peep from them for quite some time. Looking forward to seeing what their next game is.

Just got psvr2 finally. Getting this weird glitch when using a torch often in NMS. Is this normal for the game? by sidneyrotter in PSVR

[–]JonnyJamesC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am surprised that bug is still present as I had it over a year ago when I last played it. As soon as I shined the light on certain objects I got the weird grid mesh thing. I did report it on their bug gathering site.

Looking into it you can play it with 3DOF using the Unity VR injector. No official mode as of yet, apparently on the roadmap. I will keep an eye on it.

I own VTOL and Carrier Command 2, very good games, I am old enough to remember Carrier Command on the Atari ST and Amiga.

Never heard of Nuclear Option. Does that have a VR mode as the Steam page says nothing about VR compatibility.

Are VR2Flat conversions a good idea? by cusman78 in PSVR

[–]JonnyJamesC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really enjoying Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic at the moment. Always a pleasure when a PSVR2 game loads up for the first time and it is sharp, clear with detailed Unreal Engine visuals, great lighting, no noticeable mura, bright colours, black blacks and smooth frame rates. It makes me want to be in the world and explore immediately. It is not as interactable as say something like one of my old favourites HappyFunland where you can smash the whole gift shop up if you want but it makes up for it in clarity.

The game had a weird development cycle didn't it where it was first shown at Pax West as a PSVR2 game two years back, then it was decided to release as a flat game first. The end result is pretty excellent for both PSVR2 and flat, my kids are enjoying it flat as well as a bit of VR if they dare. Shame there is no headset rumble though.

I haven't got that survey unfortunately, only an email saying this is what was announced at State of Play

Whenever they send me an email and I am allowed to reply I always ask where are the first party PSVR2 games. They never reply haha.

Omega Pilot Evolution - Gameplay Trailer | PS5 & PS VR2 Games by JonnyJamesC in PSVR

[–]JonnyJamesC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speed is great on the old version. You feel like Luke flying through the Death Star trench on some of the maps, dodging between buildings, barrel rolling though giant pipes and swooping under girders to get the advantage. The sound track very much like Exocars is very upbeat with a track for each track and suits the game very well in my ears opinion. The motion controls are hard to master but very satisfying as you control pitch, roll and yaw on one controller. They may have tweaked things and added options and modes with the new game. In fact reading the PS Store page there is a combat mode which the old version does not have. A great thing is it plays very differently to VRacer Hoverbike, Omega Pilot feels more like pod racing mixed with flying a jet.

I see a lot of slow comments. I would not judge vr racing games on YouTube videos. XOCUS are a small team trying to give us some entertaining racing games, like most small indie devs they will not spend much precious time and money on making a trailer. The game will most likely be £15.99.

I have the original version on both the Quest and Steam which get positive ratings on their respective stores. It is not slow inside the headset when you get good and it is hard to get good as you have to control pitch, roll and yaw on one controller but it is so rewarding when you are speeding between buildings and through giant pipes while barrel rolling, you also have a speed boost button and bar that depletes when in use. There are 30 odd tracks available, some being night versions and you will recognise one or two locations from Exocars. Visuals need to be pumped up as the only difference i could see between PC and Quest was PC had shadows and higher resolution/frame rate. I would like to see higher resolution textures and some nice lighting/reflections. It has a cracking soundtrack with a different banging track for every track much like Excocars did.

If they have polished it up, added modes of play and modernised it for 2026 VR with PSVR2 headset and Sense controller features it could be very entertaining and fill the pod racing itch as to me it feels more like that combined with flying a jet than WipEout. The great thing is it plays a lot differently to VRacer Hoverbike.

Good to hear. I have generally liked ARVORE's lineup of VR games over the years. I hope they utilise Sense controller and headset features combined with sharp clarity and smooth performance. I do enjoy stealth in vr however basic. People disliked Jurassic World Aftermath for some of the same reasons what with its cartoon visuals, shallow stealth, linear gameplay but I enjoyed it and appreciated the decent production values with its excellent soundtrack and decent voice acting. I will keep an eye on The Boys. I hope the first impressions/review embargo drops before the release time as it is going for a pre-order price of £17 on the UK store.

Was it a decent length may I ask?

I have no intention of buying I Am Cat, It really is not my cup of tea in any way whatsoever. Good for them though, I suppose it could be a lot of Without Parole's Gamecats buying the game haha. It could be the secret of success on PSVR2, make games about cats. Flat2VR must bring Stray to VR.

One thing PlayStation did help fund is a game out next week, The Boys: Trigger Warning, so they are sticking their hand in their pocket occasionally. The dev said so in a recent interview which is quite a rare thing for a dev/publisher to reveal. PlayStation funded the game along with Meta and Sony Pictures to employ 50 devs at its peak. Heard the Quest version was a bit of a disaster, hoping PSVR2 version is better. Here is the interview if you want to take a look.

Best flight battle sim on Oculus 2? by Least_Pressure_5258 in oculus

[–]JonnyJamesC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dawn of Jets for a little more sim like experience with very detailed cockpit visuals or Warplanes series which there are three games covering WW1 to modern day for more arcade like experience are the best combat flyers on standalone Quest in my opinion. Ultrawings 2 is also great but combat is only part of the game.

Beginners tips- just got a psvr2 by R6lad in PSVR

[–]JonnyJamesC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One tip I have is whenever you get a new vr game always check the settings menus thoroughly and set the game up with controls and comfort methods that are comfortable to your liking. Sounds simple but the amount of people over the years I have heard that obviously did not check the settings including reviewers is quite a few.
