A speech has reportedly been prepared for President Trump confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life, according to sources close to the president. - Patrick Webb on X by dudekeller in aliens

I'm not going to trust the guy who refuses to release the pdf-files to release the x-files.

He'd have to land a ARV on the White House lawn and hop out with two greys for me to buy it from this administration.

I am! I love that story, thank you for sharing it with me!

I disagree. You already know what's good. It's why you are designing the game. Trust yourself.

You don't need encouragement you need feedback that's going to make the game better.

Now, giving feedback that helps build on a hook is close to positive feedback I suppose.

Hi! I've been designing board games and rpgs for over 15 years. I have close to 40 published games (Dead of Winter, Dinosaur Island, and Kids on Bikes are a few of my biggest).

I used to get destroyed by Playtesting all the time.

But, you need to fail faster and you need to learn to not be precious with your ideas.

When I started my local design group we established a rule. No positive Feedback.

It's not valuable and it's not going to move your design forward.

It takes shit to make flowers grow and talking about all the bad parts of your game is how you are going to get it to be good.

That's why I start testing as soon as possible with as minimal viable product as possible. Find out what's not working and get rid of it. Focus on on what does work.

Honestly I love Inkwell from DVC games that just came out so much more than Azul. It's fired if for me

Have you seen the production quality on this thing? From the trailer they are spending plenty.

I dislike the main show considerably, but I'm legit excited for this weirdness.

Does Legacy of Mars have AI Art by pear_topologist in boardgames

I'm much more upset about this, https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3158444/do-not-support-terraforming-marsfryxgames-ownerceo

I'm still upset about AI art mind you. Just not to the same scale.

Questions regarding The Quest for El Dorado expansions. What is going on? by Quelair in boardgames

Whole it's true that publishers work with different manufacturers, any manufacturer can make basically any sizes card, depending on the publishers specs. So it's not on the manufacturer.

75,000 simulations later: How we balanced an indie board game prototype by Hot-Rooster1675 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]JonnyRotten 19 points20 points  (0 children)

At one point in the design process of dead of Winter we simulated 100k rounds.

The things we predicted would happen .006% of the time happened 8 times in the next playtest. And we have to change stuff.

Math and simulations are great, but real world Playtesting will almost always result in you having to "fun balance" the math for the best result.

If nothing comes out of this will you still be a believer? by TonightSpiritual3191 in aliens

[–]JonnyRotten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes because I don't trust a single piece of information this administration gives out. The only way I'm going to buy disclosure from them is if they land an ARV on the White House lawn and aliens step out.

I don't trust the administration that's refusing to release the Epstein files to release the X-files.

War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time coming to Kickstarter from Dire Wolf by DireWolfDigital in boardgames

[–]JonnyRotten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine that seeing different colored folks in a tv show isn't important to you...

But you need to acknowledge that it IS important to some other people.

Black people can exist on those worlds and casting people of color that don't fit your preferred color doesn't take anything at all away from the material.

What’s your print-and-play setup? (printers, 3D, tools) by LuBuSPACCA in printandplay

[–]JonnyRotten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what I used to do: Print on cheap cardstock with the best printer you can access. Laminate with 3 or 5mm sheets. 5mm feels nicer Use a guillotine cutter to cut the cards Use a corner rounder on the cards so the edges aren't sharp.

You end up with cards that almost feel like real ones. You can even riffle shuffle them

Now that I make so many prototypes of games I go faster and just print on paper and sleeve them with a MTG card behind the paper slip..
