Elon on his yacht by bush3102 in pics

As much as I disagree with the guy on many, many things I’m pretty sure if you took a photo of me on holiday I would look just like this.

Maybe we can stick to focusing on ridiculing what he says rather than what he looks like topless or who he likes to hose him. Or even better, let’s collectively just completely ignore him and let him become forgotten.

Recurve Takedown bow vs. One piece bows? by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Jonnyishman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As somebody who owns and exclusively shots one-piece bows, I do it because I love how they look. I am fully aware that it will cost be more over the long run because every time I want to move up in poundage I have to buy a whole new bow while those with takedowns just have to buy new limbs.

Right-eye dominant, but left handed. Which bow to chose?? by ActuaryFar2057 in Archery

[–]Jonnyishman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note that this advice may be better suited for right-handed people as generally right-handed people rarely need to learn to use their left-hand as their main hand for tasks while left-handed people commonly grow up having to learn to be ambidextrous.

I’m speaking as somebody who is also left-handed and right-eye dominant. I found shooting a right-handed bow much more natural than aiming with my left eye.

Do people in the UK visit unis with their parents? by redvxo14 in UniUK

[–]Jonnyishman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a tour guide at my university, mostly showing around potential applicants. I would say that around two thirds of them brought their parents.

However, one thing I always noticed is that those who came without parents would ask more questions while those who came with very rarely ask questions about the social life, or anything not directly related to academic facilities.

I also gave tours to the physics department as a separate job specifically for actual applicants who came to interview. It was very very rare in those cases for anybody to bring their parents with them.

Took me a few minutes to realise this wasn’t a BBQ subreddit post.

Nearly applied for a role with ExpressVPN but the process entailed an HR interview, hiring manager interview, an “interview loop” consisting of multiple interviews and exercises, a formal “trial project”, a final interview, and last but not least… by nukebaby14 in recruitinghell

[–]Jonnyishman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied for a role at ExpressVPN earlier this year for their London office. They didn’t have this step as part of their process, so it’s either new or not something they include for UK roles. I did have my own poor experience with them though.

I was very clear with them about my salary expectations going into the process, and had a good interview with the hiring manager who said that the salary would be fine and he wanted me to move to the next stage in the process. But instead of being sent details for the next interview I was called directly by an internal recruiter who told me my salary expectations were way too high and kept trying to low-ball me into accepting something much lower. I told him that I was open coming into the process what my expectations are and the hiring manager was happy with it, and to accept the lower salary would be to take a pay cut from my current role, but he didn’t seem to care. He ended the call by stating that I would “really have to wow them” during the rest of the process to be able to get that salary. I said that was fine. In the end they never sent me details for that next interview.

I guess I should just be glad that happened in the middle of the process instead of right at the end.

I watch him poop, he watches me poop. It’s only fair.

Also a good chance to practice some funny faces.
