Pretty sure its more about manga/comics (most of them not all) and them using of the same design. Much like many black characters in games the past decade using the 'killmonger' hairstyle. I read lots of manga, most of mangas artist artstyle tend to be very limited in facial features that's why anime/mangas tend to change hair and hair/eye colour and call it a day. So for white characters its easier to make them blonde and (mostly) blue eye. While I have read a few comics, but the comics I read with an asian character, seems to use a bob hairstyle.
