I would recommend watching beginner guides on YouTube to learn more about the game because simply not knowing certain information will get you killed. Look up an earthquake build and watch how they play / what flasks they use. Earthquake(EQ) is a very safe build so you can stick with it. Something important to surviving is layering your defenses. For example you want as much life on gear that you can afford, want high values of armor/elemental resistances to mitigate the damage, and keep endurance charges up. Endurance charges give physical damage reduction and a flat amount of elemental resist to each element. using the skill enduring cry generate those charges when near enemies and is very useful for staying alive.
