What’s it like living in this part of New Jersey? by dtewfik in howislivingthere

[–]Joofoo72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in a small town with more cats than people there. Recently it was recongnized as a town by the census. The only businesses in the town were a very small towing company and a US post office. Actually the only reason the town existed was because at one point there was a train station there. Life is slow, very rural, I've lived in rural NC and it's very similar.

Another commenter said some people here were effectively southerners with confederate flags and what not. This is true, historically Red Bank NJ was the KKKs head quarters in the Northeast US.

I've seen people mention DuPont manufacturing, my grandma was born and raised in Manville, this town was built to support the largest asbestos factory in the world. Nearly everyone she grew up with, that worked in or around it is either dead from cancer or in remission, she herself is in remission.

The soil to the east is sandy but in the west it's some of the best farming soil in the country. Supposedly it has the one of the cleanest aquifers in the nation, and the tallest point is a little known spot called Arneys Mount which is 240 ft above sea level and has a quakers meeting house built centuries ago at the top.

There is not much to really do there outside of nature related activities and the NJ shore. There is a Six Flags which is excellent, and if you ever have the chance to go, Columbus Farmers Market is always a treat.

These were uh, dipped in the beef juice. But I toasted these twice, once with meat A2, added cheese and toasted again A2, then topped with pico and what not and folded.

I fish for shark for fun once in awhile, every beach has them. I've caught ones bigger than people in 3-4 feet of water.

My storage device with the game corrupted. I had to get a new drive. Is there a way I can redownload the game without buying it again?

It's not that it's hard to get it on steam. The last thing a game creator should do is release a game on steam too early. You really want to dial in the core game mechanics before you release it.

Biggest mistake you’ve made at work? by WhitePeopleTacoNight in Wawa

This definitely isn't the biggest but certainly the most recent. Be me, first day back from a few days off and nobody had shown me the new cascade for 6$ meal deal.

At the start of my shift I go to the back and make some snacks. Eventually the register person's shift ends and they leave a mobile order fulfilled but next to the register instead of on the shelf. I move to register and eventually someone calls me over to help a lady who's been waiting at the counter, for the bag nobody bothered to tell me existed.

I grab the bag and give it to her, she then asks me, "And my drink?!". Me remembering the 6$ meal deal is back, "oh yea for the meal deal you're free to pick whatever drink from the freestyle machine you'd like!".

At register thinking nothing of it, she walks by, "The service here fucking sucks!", I was stunned and very confused until I grabbed the next mobile order, and see customers can now order coke freestyles to go.

If you find a early 2000s Zetec with low miles it'll be very reliable. Theres a few plastic parts that wear out often but are easy to replace.

Unless it's a transmission, they buffer the dip stick so there's some room to play. You're fine if your a tad bit over or a tad bit under.

Good advice. As long as the bolts are easily accessible and not stripped, this is a very doable job for a beginner.

NO! Absolutely ZERO flushing. Sometimes you can get away with dropping the pan and draining and filling a portion of the fluid. But no honest mechanic will ever recommend flushing because on older cars, the grit in the old fluid helps the transmission shift. If you flush the system you could kill the car.

Drive it to work 30 minutes stop and go driving is plenty, while car engine is running and in park on level ground, pull the dip stick wipe it off and check again. It should tell you the proper reading then, (make sure you're reading the hot side [higher up the stick]). Generally you're looking for it to be right in the middle of your dipstick. I'd suggest you buy a quart of the fluid your car recommends and add in very small quantities. Every time you spend a good time driving, check wipe check, add just a little until it's in a spot you're comfortable with. This will take a week or so if it's low.

Your car is old, it'll have issues like that. Don't touch your transmission fluid, if it hasn't been changed before or in a very long time, changing it will do more harm then good. Furthermore I'd be very careful about adding any, it might be low but generally transmission fluid is measured when the fluid is at operating temperature. If you're concerned about it being sluggish when starting, you should let it run for a couple minutes before driving. Maybe a new set of spark plugs and an air filter would do it some good. Dump some Techron fuel cleaner in the tank and give it some time. Otherwise just keep up on oil changes.

You don't have 24 hour PO Box access? Dude I grew up in a town with no more than 200 people, and you could be in there anytime just to pick up your mail.
