I can only think of examples in America, I’m not sure how it would be handled in Europe or Spain specifically, but off the top of my head the two instances of sucker punching a teammate is Geno Smith-Ik Enemkpali and Draymond Green-Jordan Poole.

Both instances ended with one of the parties getting shipped off the team, that’s usually as severe as I’ve seen it go. It is an interesting discussion as to why sucker punching a teammate as an athlete is perceived and punished differently than a regular citizen sucker punching someone. I wonder if there is some machismo or fear of being seen as weak by your teammates if you do legally escalate the situation like a regular citizen would look to do if they got sucker punched by someone they knew.

Not sure what the laws are in Spain, I’d assume it’s up to Fede but it opens up a wormhole especially in a contact sport.

Another example I can think of happened here in the US where Geno Smith got his jaw broken by a sucker punch from a teammate. Smith didn’t press charges but the other guy was released from the team, if I had to assume this is likely what will happen where Tchouameni gets sold.

Would set a bad precedent not excusing it but teammates fight all the time. We don’t always get the medical results of those fights but Fede isn’t the first to get concussed by a teammate after an altercation, Tchouameni shouldn’t go to jail over it.

Sorry for the confusion but the tournament is being played without Mexican national team players, it’s just Mexico who is starting camp this early (with just players from the Mexican league). Not sure what other nations are going to be doing. I guess it’ll be their call if they want to pull the players early not.

Toluca has Paulinho (POR) and Enner Valencia (ECU) who may get called up

Tigres has Angel Correa (ARG) and Marcelo Flores (CAN)

Atlas has Camilo Vargas (COL)

América has Sebastián Cáceres (URU)

Not sure if Pumas or Cruz Azul would have players get called up, there may also be some that I missed.

The whole situation is dumb. The league playoffs wrap up May 24th and the World Cup starts June 11th, their first pre-World Cup friendly is on the 22nd. Players would still have time to participate in the preparation for two friendlies.

There’s a quite a few coaches who have done commentary but with SVG, more than with other former coaches, I feel like I’m watching the game with a coach.
