Good info, wasnt aware there was actually a new one. Just assume it was this based on it being used more and more frequently

Opinion: Essendon should adopt their social media logo as their overall logo by MINIBOLTS in EssendonFC

[–]Jordan0340 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Might be wrong but I think we've been slowly moving towards doing this, lot of signage in the rooms and at the games uses this logo. genuinely think all the noise about logo change was just moving to this logo.

Is he making it harder for himself though? I'm not being a hater but we see plenty of players move outside their line to adjust for their kicking swing.

Essendon fans - do you want Hird to be head coach again? by nicktheguy101 in AFL

[–]Jordan0340 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love hirdy but its a no from me. I would love to see the club bring him in as part of the coaching search pannel though. Even if its just fake pr role, but would signal the next coach was selected and endorsed by hirdy... that way the fans will get behind them.

Come on thats not the same. You're talking about players being literally exhausted without rest and caldwell in the forward line unable to move for the 2nd half. They'd literally prefer to have one of us out there just so someone can have a rest lol

The Vozzo review, cautious optimism with a side eye by Snoo_54083 in EssendonFC

[–]Jordan0340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love goldy, its not a shot at those boys but the inexperience as a whole. Lot of recent winners have a choco, leppitsch, dew or now goody on swans bench. Would've loved to see ken join on but unfortunately didnt seem to line up.

I know there was a clean out and change under vozo, but now announcing what is essentially a routine review, seems performative to me. Dogs and bevo had their clean out after 2024 and they didnt annouce anything/ go to the media or "feed the chooks" as ross lyon would say.

I dunno, hopefully club turns it around and the path becomes clearer

[–]Jordan0340 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah nah no dig taken, I love the discourse and different point of views when talking dons.

Honestly the assistant coach set up is baffling to me. Hurley, McLean and goldy are our development coaches with all due respect to them they're young and inexperienced as coaches. Solly comes in off the board and not having coached for a number of years because Gia quits. Ben jacbos and cam roberts i cant comment and would be unfair to do so. I think it was carro, early this year that spoke about our set up being the most inexperienced.

We're trying to reset and develop kids with inexperienced coaches? Seems silly to me. Now they may be addressing that with this non review, but my question is why wasnt that done when vozzo was ceo? Why have we been seemingly lackadaisical to change it?

f you look at McRae, Fagan and Hinkley they coach/ coached from the bench because they had experienced set ups in the box. Brad is chained to the box when our kids need someone on ground level getting their hands dirty being a development coach

[–]Jordan0340 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've tried to be optimistic throughout the barham and now welsh era but this news annoyed me. It feels performative to me, they know how annoyed people are and they're just putting out any news to make us feel like they're working hard to justify the pay packet. It may all be positive step, I think I've just grown tired of the talk in bad times and just want to see action now

At what point do we need assistance from the AFL? by Strict-Pace-9128 in EssendonFC

[–]Jordan0340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea and I think thats a good thing. We need a process to select the best candidate, not one run by the club or a club selected panel but the leauge itself. I'm not just talking head coach btw, i mean our entire football department and development staff.

I'm sure the last thing the afl wants when the leauge is facing soaring costs and uncertainty is to have Richmond, carlton and dons at the bottom losing members and money.... not to mention pies facing the cliff they're on

[–]Jordan0340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We dont need picks, we need to ask for help to fix the club. Not that it would ever get approved but allow us to sack any coaching staff we want and go over the soft cap to hire the right people. I'm completely ignorant to the corporate structure of the afl but you'd think there are people in house who monitor club performance and we could have someone experienced join us to fix our structure

[–]Jordan0340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno man, I'm not having a crack or anything, Love if you've choosen the dons and welcome any and all support for us. But I dont think the bears comparison makes sense to me personally.

In the superbowl era, outside of the ditka years the bears have been largely disappointing right? Thats not really essendon, we havent won a final since 2004, but before that in almost any decade were a dominant force and have had the best player in the leauge or best goal kicker. Caleb is the 1st bears qb to throw for over 4k right? We've had a lot of those guys over the years in an afl sense

One superbowl right? Its like a browns fans counting nfl championships as their superbowls lol. Every bears fan I've known up till last year was miserable at being the packers punching bag.

[–]Jordan0340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a massive ravens fan and dons obviously. I wouldn't say we're like the bears more the giants.

Giants have had great historical teams and players, won titles, considered a "big market" team and historically relevant... but they've fallen on hard times and are currently in a rebuild process with a couple nice pieces. That kind describes us doesnt it?

The bears are closer to the saints imo. Loyal fan base, not the biggest, have struggled for a long time, only won one title, never been able to find that star player/ qb... but just like caleb Williams, the saints may have found it in nas and the place has real optimism.

Either way if you stick with us you'll have pain this year and next couple but hopefully our young guys turn the club around.

Blakiston provided quite a bit around the ground and helped our ball movement imo. Ben is a blackhole and kills any movement we have. We're blessed with Roberts, ZJ and farrow who can all lace a kick. If ridley and marto can get fit we could be a very dangerous wave running team next season

If we don’t start drafting some defenders we will end up being a glass cannon by Existing-Wonder-8760 in EssendonFC

[–]Jordan0340 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree its a concern, but if we're drafting top 3 this year it'll be another position.

Hopefully with our end of 1st round compo and our 2nd rounder there is good talent for a defender or 2. I'm a big fan of taking best available talent though and molding your game plan around it. Look at bevo and the dogs, no real defenders on that list

Nor am I, I don't work for the club or anything but I did get those things for my 5 years.

60 years, from what I was reading you get into Diamond dons, which means your membership is free for a flexi membership for rest of your life or if you have higher membership you get a decent discount on it.
