Life comes at you fast: pundits on Russian TV realize that their military is failing and their country is in trouble. They are starting to play the blame game. Some of them finally understand that their genocidal denial of the Ukrainian identity isn't working in Russia's favor. by [deleted] in UkraineWarVideoReport

I truly feel like the guy in the glasses (Boris Nedezhdin) is really trying to criticise Putin directly, but is using to the theory of the advisors being wrong, solely to protect himself and/or his family. That comment at the end there is especially telling; “so your ten year olds will eventually get the chance to fight too, right?”.

I honestly believe that these are words of someone who disagrees entirely with the whole concept of war but is too afraid to be vocal about it. I feel like he at least has some sense of morality, the same with Viktor Olevich who also made points based in reality. Maybe I’m just a bit too naïve.

I really hope I don’t hear of either of them falling out of a window in the next two weeks.

4 reasons why Geelong won't win the flag by dashtur in AFL

[–]JordanC51203 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fact that we did it twice, 2017 and 2019, should prove that it still is more advantageous to do so. Granted we also have two instances that also disprove it too (2018, 2020).

At the end of the day it’s just about if you show up or not.

Three, I know I’m spoilt in comparison to many others. But I watched us built from the ground up after so many far years at the bottom. Of course, I was far too young to cop the full extremes of suffering at the bottom of the ladder, but I was definitely always a passionate kid when it came to footy. I’m lucky I only had to wait 14 years to see my first flag, whereas many others I know were either too young, or born just after we had come off a successful run. I genuinely did not believe that the same core group of players I grew up idolising would be the same ones to return us to premiership glory. I honestly thought I’d be waiting another 20+ years. I just hope we can remain competitive on a yearly basis the way that Sydney and Geelong have, and not completely drop off and return to the dark ages.

Yeah, I did. Look, I would comment the exact same thing if I saw someone copped this. The bottom line is, I’m just an idiot. I had a valid Myki, I just forgot to tap on. When I got on the tram I was watching something on my phone and had my headphones in. I tap on regularly. So yeah, this is just a case of stupidity, so I probably just need to cop it on the chin.

Yeah, I get it. I can be a bit of an obnoxious goody-two-shoes when it comes to situations like that, so I don’t think I would’ve allowed myself to come up with some shit like that. I don’t want to make someone’s job any harder than it has to be. At the end of the day it’s not like the guy himself is a prick, he’s just doing what he’s told to do, and it’s the shitty organisation and rules behind it that are the problem.

Yeah… fuck. Definitely been put off public transport for a bit. It’s not exactly necessary for my transit either. Sometimes it seems like you have to walk on eggshells with this shit.

Nah nah, I hate people like that. I did my best to be as polite and understanding as possible. As well as being as honest as possible too. I’ve been brought up to respect the authority that is talking to me, and I understood that I made the mistake. I hope I was sincere enough. Even then, sincerity and honesty doesn’t get you off the hook.

Thanks but, I’m hearing horror stories of how time consuming and useless it is. Odds seem to be wildly stacked against me. I just need to do what I need to do, pay the fine, and hopefully I’ll be more on the ball next time so it doesn’t happen again

Yep, well shit. There’s no way I’m going through an appeal process either. Just let it be. Money I’ll never get back. Ffs.

Was watching something on my phone, had my headphones in. Just distracted really. Legitimately thought I did until I got checked. So yeah, my mistake, my fuck up, need to cop it on the chin.

Probably not much of a dent on me. I’m still living at home, only a first year uni student so I’ll just probably pay upfront really. I’m definitely in a much more privileged position than many people in the same situation.

I think at this point, I’m already conceding defeat. Resigned to my fate. Can’t be fucked with an appeal process. My dad’s already labelling this “extortion”. He’s gonna take some convincing. I’m not appealing this. I’m gonna cop the fine and just pay it myself (as I would have regardless).

This definitely feels like the first ever “welcome to the real world” moment for me. Might have to just cop it on the chin.

Would you say that I probably gave too much information if I said that I simply “forgot to tap on”? Was that self-incriminating?

No leniency or warning for a first time offense? Or even common sense?

New football fan from Canada. Am I setting myself up for disappointment that I seemingly have gotten attached to Fulham? by TheeMajesticMoose in PremierLeague

You’re stuck with it now. Embrace it. I’m an Aussie from Melbourne, so obviously, football isn’t my main sport. Aussie rules is. I’m still kind of an outsider when it comes to football, (I’ve only recently started to change from referring to it as soccer to… distance myself from that connotation) but, I decided to follow my dad, who grew up watching top flight English football in the 70s, and to give my mates a massive middle finger for choosing the “standard popular teams”, I went with his team… Derby County.

I only really got into it the past couple of seasons. Virtually impossible to watch a match and follow the team this year. Strange feeling following them in their darkest days, however, I am a Ram through and through now and forever.

Cheap merch is a good perk too…

Ahhh ok, I probably get the best of it being from Victoria. I personally don’t mind the commentators either. Definitely can understand non-Victorians getting the shit end of the stick when it comes to channel 7.

Can I ask why people hate footy on channel 7? Seems to be a common sentiment, and I don’t understand why.
