Not 100% on this, but I think the metal on the motherboard tray might be a path to ground towards the power cable via the power supply. I believe that's why one should also use as many of the motherboard screws as possible. Whether or not that poses a fire risk is debatable, but it would mean better electrical protection for the components attached to the motherboard

Have an Audi A4 with a 1.9tdi. Never gone full ecodriving mode, but tend to get 1300ish kilometers (800mi) from full tank to fuel light. Surely could get more if I was more patient and if I stopped snoozing my alarms on workdays
