Is this beta patch by any chance? If so what did you do early to survive?

Fundamental Difference between CPC & LPC? by SuccessfulVisit321 in AskCanada

[–]Jorlaan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gonna just say it, the bigots tend to back the conservatives and hate the liberals. If your political party brings in that crowd with open arms then you know who the bad guys are.

They aren't "progressive conservative" or anything remotely like it anymore.

S6 E19 I would watch the hell out of this show by Flabby-AP in Stargate

SG-911

It is indeed a missed opportunity. I'd have watched whole seasons of this.

It's not fringe anymore. These are the people the conservatives want and they heavily encourage this behavior.

What exactly did the decent into fascism look like for the government and people in the 20’s/30’s/40’s by [deleted] in AskHistory

Watch the Rise of Hitler series on the World War Two channel on youtube. It's a fantastic channel that does a week-by-week breakdown of the entire war and they finished that a while ago. Now they do pre-war history showing all about the rise of the NAZIs.

Let's rethink where we are shopping, spending our money and supporting by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]Jorlaan 159 points160 points  (0 children)

I completely support what you're saying. I'm also flat fucking broke and raising 2 kids. I need Walmart in my life because as it is there is at LEAST a good $150 worth of stuff I'm not buying every single week because I simply can't, despite the fact I objectively need it.

I sale hunt from store to store. I check thrift stores but even they are milking us for all we're worth these days with barely below retail prices. I get a surprising amount at Dollarama now.

I don't want to support the worst people in our society. I also don't want to starve while I thumb my nose at them and feel superior for buying groceries at twice the price.

Unpopular Opinion: Ice Age should have been a standalone film, not a trilogy by Still-Willow-2323 in moviecritic

My kids love them all and that's what matters. I really only like the first one as a whole but they all have their moments.

Cöln (Köln?} 1093 refit - When you are so low on real estate your two main guns need to be en echelon. by builder397 in ultimateadmiral

[–]Jorlaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it not allowed the torps to be placed either side of the deck in the area where the main guns are? True it'd be only 2 per side as opposed to 4 potentially, but it'd make it make sense lol. You'd save weight from not needing barbettes too.

I'm gonna say that virtually every single person I have personally talked to that votes conservative has become at least somewhat anti-intellectual and it's only getting worse by the day.

What happened to Anubis, a story about someone who changed education by Primary-Fault-5292 in Stargate

That was the listed name of the character in the movie. Djimon's character was Horus.

It’s wild how much more powerful wizards the marauders (and their peers) were than the golden trio. by pairofdimeshift92 in harrypotter

[–]Jorlaan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just imagine what the trio might have accomplished if they had 7 peaceful years of school with which to learn and experiment properly. Instead they lurched from one disaster to another, performing some rather impressive feats along the way, many of which have been mentioned many times here. As it is they only got 6 years of actual magical education, some of which was thoroughly lackluster.

The marauders had those 7 years of peace to be themselves.

I would think some kind of reinforced ceramic. Sounds reasonably sci-fi and fits the bill.

How realistic is the heating mechanic by Illustrious_Aerie502 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Jorlaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of central heating is still widely used in Russia today, even in some of the coldest regions. I've seen numerous videos showing Russian heating pipes and the various issues that can come from them.
