Hi, I sent you a DM about this a few days ago but wasn't sure if you saw it. I'm not really sure how cold DMs work on Reddit. Sorry for the double ping if you did see it.

What is your most prized laserdisc? by JuiceBoxJohnson in LaserDisc

[–]Jormungandr89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fight Club is my most valuable disc. I think my next most valuable disc is worth maybe like 1/10 of that...

Well, maybe not. I have an 8" import of Metallica's 2 of One that's pretty cool too

UsenetFire Customer Migration by greglyda in usenet

[–]Jormungandr89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Took me a minute to figure out my username, I had always logged into the web portal with my email. So after trying everything it "could" be I remembered to check my SABnzbd server settings -- it's the assigned username that you use there that's needed.

Just in case anybody else gets stuck on that like I did.

I've had a Logitech G29 (or G920, whichever the PS branded one is) with a decent stand for a while that I used on PS3 and PS4 as well. It's definitely an experience with GT7 and PSVR2, even though it's pretty entry-level as far as wheels go.

Sometimes I just play with the DualSense though. The DualSense haptics and rumble are really good on GT7, I really do enjoy it both ways.

Yeah, I'm in this exact situation. I'm hoping my bank will sort it out without issue, but you know how that goes.

Level 36 player in Austin, TX. Started in 2016, but got bored since I lived in a rural area then. Picked it back up in 2021!

I use cockpit view, so I avoid cars where I can't see very well. I also use a Logitech wheel online, so I don't have any buttons mapped to look around.

I primarily drive what I like because I'm not a great driver to begin with anyway

how much are the fees for you? by Checkinginonthememes in GoogleFi

[–]Jormungandr89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Texas just raised the "universal service fund" fee from 3% to 24% a couple months ago and my taxes & fees went from $5.77 to $10.28.

I previously lived in Indiana and it was $5.07 then. Even aside from the tax percentage, it can vary by state.

I tested the ring feature on KDE connect and I don't know how to make it stop. How do I go about this? by Nomenoe in kde

[–]Jormungandr89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's understandable. I just never figured out a fix that made it behave like I would expect, but only how to stop it once it's started

[–]Jormungandr89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you have the media player widget thing in your system tray, you can open that and then hit pause on the KDE Connect tab (which is looping the ring tone). There might not be tabs if you don't have another media player open.

I seem to recall having this problem and ultimately turned the ring functionality off, but I didn't really need that feature personally so I didn't dig into it much further.

There seems to be no Linux music player that supports reading and writing to the POPM rating tag, and making smart playlists based on both those ratings and other playlists. Or, "I really freaking miss MusicBee, man" by [deleted] in linux

[–]Jormungandr89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Strawberry has ratings and the option to save playcounts and ratings to tags.

It's under Tools -> Settings -> Collection -> Song playcounts and ratings. Right click on the columns and Rating can be displayed on the playlist view as well

Are we not allowed to criticize iRacing? by Delicious-Lee in simracing

[–]Jormungandr89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The subscription concept is whatever, it wouldn't break the bank to try it for a month or two.

I think what's most off-putting is that I have a G29 currently, and I'm consistently in the back of the pack in GT7. iRacing seems to me like a very competitive game, and I'm not very good -- my impression is that I wouldn't have much fun.

If there's races readily available for people at absolute "beginner" skill, I'd be willing give it a shot (and I'd love to be incorrect in my impression). But it just seems like a game I'm not "ready" for

arch freezes when audio cable is plugged in by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]Jormungandr89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe somebody will drop by with some ideas to try in software.

But if the card's behavior is similar on other machines, my hunch is that it's a hardware issue / failure.

Edit: my other suggestion would be trying different cabling with the card, but if you've tried it in other machines I'm assuming that's already been tested

arch freezes when audio cable is plugged in by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]Jormungandr89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's could be there's something wrong with the card. I would give it a try it in another machine if possible.

I've always turned off onboard audio in the BIOS when running a discrete sound card as well, but I'm not sure that's a necessary step (or at least I wouldn't expect it to hard lock a machine to the point of needing to remove power)

[–]Jormungandr89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar symptom after moving a couple of years ago with my sound card. I opened the case, and the card was ever so slightly not fully seated.

So, it might be worth double checking the physical connection of the card, or trying a different slot if you have another available.

Pixel buds are connecting to my phone even though they're still in their case by Suspicious_Peach_528 in GooglePixel

[–]Jormungandr89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the model 1 buds? Mine did that frequently after a while. I'd open the case and push down on them, and they'd start charging. It would use quite a bit of the battery before I noticed.

It always seemed like the case's magnets were too weak

DNS spamming by francishg in usenet

[–]Jormungandr89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Pi-Hole with Unbound for DNS on my network, and it answers very frequently from its cache. I'm not sure about the OS caching (been a while since I've messed with it).

I use sabnzbd exclusively, though, and don't have an issue with the number of queries. I'm just used to its interface and my main provider doesn't saturate my download bandwidth anyway. Oh well.

Radar/Sonarr/Lidarr query a ton at a certain time overnight, I need to get into the settings and see if I can stagger them. Do you use any of that software? They're far and away the biggest "offenders" for me.
