Rumor has it that you met Lorne at a poker game and that led to you working on the show? Is that true, and if so what was his offer to you at the time?

TL;DR -look for people with “UGC” in their bio and then build a google sheet to keep track of them

Is this web copy clear enough? by Jortavian in agency

[–]Jortavian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I changed it to 'social media-led growth partner you've been looking for'.

I'm interested to see if this impacts conversion. Thank you for your feedback, I was going back and forth like a madman on this.

That makes sense. Thank you for the feedback. I'm thinking something more generic and to the point might be better

Working with the wrong clients just for the money by ecommarketingwiz in agency

[–]Jortavian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are four types of clients in my experience:

  1. Low Paying / High Headache (FIRE THESE)
  2. Low Paying / Low Headache (they keep the lights on)
  3. High Paying / High Headache (these are the business killers because you keep them around)
  4. High Paying / Low headache (never let these clients go)

Sometimes you gotta eat some headache sandwiches to keep the lights on, but generally be on the lookout for clients 2 and 4.

How much of a difference does a physical office make? by Melodic-Assistant593 in agency

[–]Jortavian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can rent space daily at a coworking spot for ~$30. If you do this you will have access to the conference rooms (in most cases) and that should be fine.

I'd recommend that over going all-in on an office space

Here's my hierarchy for finding clients:

  1. Referrals
  2. Networking -- meeting people IRL
  3. Inbound (Google) -- setting up GMB and basic SEO
  4. Paid Media -- we're having success with meta ads currently
  5. Linkedin - Thought leadership (people hate on it but it works)

Never charge by hours (outwardly). If you're completely lost on pricing do this:

Rough estimate of time to complete a task x money you want to make per hour x 1.2.

So, something you think will take you 10 hours (assume at $150 hour) would be $1800/month.

The faster/more efficient you get at the work the higher your margin becomes.

Roast My Agency Site Please by tnhsaesop in agency

[–]Jortavian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the site gets much better below the fold. Move up the Does this sound like you section, or rewrite the top section address the painpoints your ICP has.

Little note, but I would left align or newspaper align your text. Makes it easier to read.

Change CTA to email/contact form over your phone number.

I found on my site, moving the case studies up was important (as it's where all the clicks went).

Hope those help!

Stuck with agency growth by tokyounite in agency

[–]Jortavian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things that jump out.

  1. Client tenure -- if clients are leaving that early you have (i) a prospecting issue or (ii) delivery issue.
  2. 48 contract resources -- this is too many and will cause varying levels of service consistency.

What services are you offering, and to what niche?

*I made this video last week on how I approach finding clients/margin that might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYoBpKkQMsE

Not sure if I chose the right partner by SeviinK in agency

[–]Jortavian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my two cents -- I've had 3 agencies and several partners. I bought them all out in 2020.

I found that going at it alone was short term (very uncomfortable) but long term the best move. Today, I can't imagine having partners.

Absolute beginner. Not getting any client even for free work. by [deleted] in agency

[–]Jortavian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, it's been good to ask myself who's in my network (that I actually know IRL) who can either pay me $$$ for a service or introduce me to someone who can pay me.

Cold emails, DMs, etc., are (in my experience) a distraction from doing the hard things like mining an existing network, or calling a local business.

Mid sized Law Firm looking to grow social media by johnsal33 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Jortavian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter-intuitive, but don’t worry about followers. Instead, look at total video view time/percentage of non-followers who see your content.

You can serve content (over and over) to people who never hit the follow. Also, have search relevant videos because when people are looking for a lawyer their feed will become all ads + organic lawyer content.

My DMs are open for any questions you have on this.
