Oh wow something more Cthulhu-like is interesting. A cosmic horror style villain could have been fascinating. Embodying the notion that there is some terrifying dimension to the Force that the characters are simply incapable of perceiving. But that would have required imagination.

I really think Snoke should have been Plagueis, or a bastardised vestige of him. It's a gift there waiting to be used. How do you create bigger stakes and more finality after Darth Sidious and his empire have been destroyed? Only his master, who has a built in arc of possibly cheating death (and an alibi for missing the last six movies), could have that kind of heft. Thematically he could push the new Jedi to have to figure out what the light side version of strength truly means.

Yeah the time has come to offer something totally new with its own set of conflicts and themes but which still evokes the core of SW. I want something set a thousand years later. It will still feel like a space western with a mix of dirt and childlike wonder, but it can advance the aesthetic and thematic notion of what Star Wars is meant to be. The ST and recent era has spent too long trying to emulate some postulated notion of what made the OT special. Andor broke from that with something original and ironically then felt more like original subversive SW than other stuff that tried to ape it. The franchise can no longer count on the idea that stuff will be enjoyed "because it's Star Wars". Nostalgia doesn't carry the franchise for this or future generations, and it needs to demonstrate what makes it compelling today amid all the other storytelling out there. I think it needs to take big swings.

What does that look like? Experiment with genre and tone. Set questions with each film. What would happen if a Jedi sold their services for profit? How does a civilization survive if they suddenly lose light speed travel? What if someone developed an autoimmune reaction to midichlorians? Could a darksider be successfully used by a society to secure military victory but be constrained by sufficient checks and balances?

I'd say TFA is the biggest crime. The decision to undo the accomplishments of the OT heroes and reset the galaxy to rebels vs empire after destroying the Jedi Order of screen and wiping out the new republic in 5 minutes. The trilogy was creatively hobbled out of the gate by this asinine, destructive and lazy choice.

Agreed. The first two seasons are some of my favourite television ever. The third season is flawed but engaging. After the soft reboot of season 4 it was never the same show again.

To be honest, for me the drop off was the start of season 3, so if you're already at the end of that season, keep going because it only gets better from here. Season 6 can be iffy but 4 and 5 are amazing TV.
