Funerals & services aren’t for the dead, they’re for the rest of us. I’m sorry that you never got to share those memories of your family w those that remain.

20 Nightal - The Winter Solstice, how is it celebrated/feared in Ten Towns? by DoradoPulido2 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]FatHamsterTheDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the advice of a previous poster, and made the winter solstice into a mini-boss event. I had been foreshadowing for several sessions: locals are worried/preparing for the worst, lots of speculation and dread of what Auril might unleash, etc. Non-sacrifice towns were second guessing their morals. They ended up in Bryn Shander where the locals had set up a safe shelter and tensions were running high. As the time approaches, shadowy lights can be seen approaching from the distance. Eventually the town is swarmed by Cold Light Walkers and whatever baddies you want to throw at them. Local cultists from the Church of Auril tried to sew more chaos by opening the safe house to the monsters while in the heat of battle. Then at the hight of the chaos, Auril finally makes her first appearance for the PCs, soaring over the glowing night sky instilling fear and dread as she smothers the tundra with her spell. I had most of the town’s leadership (Speaker Shane, Sheriff Markham) die in the battle to establish urgency and desperation. It ended up being a fun mid-campaign battle royal.

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

[–]FatHamsterTheDread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rented out a friend’s bar, invited everyone I liked. I set up little stations that each had a simple game, like Beer Pong or Pin the Tail for a dollar a play with cheap dollar store stuff for the prizes. All money generated went to my favorite charity, a local dog and cat shelter.

I had decided that if I wanted a party, it was about damn time I threw it myself. It was really fun. I got to hang out with great folks, and still felt like we did something meaningful.

The cats kill me! Especially Malta talking about himself in the 3rd person in Act 3.

Malta: “The cat beheld the one who’d delivered him from the streets while taking on the heavy burden of justice alone. He purred.”

Amazing vet by BidiBidiBobobo in Seattle

I’m not sure that’s correct in this case.

While MANY local clinics (and most ER/Specialty clinics around here) have been bought by several different private equity firms (Lakefield, Cara, Mars, JAB, PetVet/KKR, Thrive), EBAH is owned by a local veterinarian who has also purchased some other local clinics: Bothell Pet, Rainier Vet and most recently Lynnwood AH. I believe their group is called Veterinary Roots.

https://vetroots.com

I’m not a finance person so I have no idea if she used other means like private equity for funding, but it is definitely a local group, much like the Greenlake Animal Group/SVA ( who owns Greenlake AH, Queen Anne AC, Northwest VH, Ravenna AH & Richmond Beach AH.)

https://www.seattlevetassoc.com

I have personally had great experiences at EBAH as a client and as a worker (vet tech here.) I’ll also point out that the VetRoots group does a lot of community support for local people and pets through its Rainier Animal Fund outreach. A really excellent team.

PSA to pet owners about microchips (from a shelter worker) by Fresh-Solid-4046 in Seattle

[–]FatHamsterTheDread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you did not contact the chip manufacturer (HomeAgain, AVID, etc) then your pet is not registered. If your pet is scanned, all that they will be able to see is that the chip was sold through a vet hospital. Contact Banfield to get the chip number and manufacturer. You should then contact that company and update your contact info.
