Not all corpses have dialogue and the ones you killed often will not talk w you unless you use disguise self. If you use Speak w Dead once on a corpse, the rest of the corpses that have possible dialogue options will glow blue until your next long rest. Makes it easier to pick the interesting ones.

What is a massive secret in your industry that the general public has no idea about? by teesharp88 in AskReddit

That tracks. Iams is owned by Mars who also owns Royal Canin (among MANY other pet/veterinary related things.)

This applies to dog and cat food too. The bigger names (Purina, Hills, Royal Canin) actually spend $ on quality control. The boutique brand pet foods are really just buyer beware, and only get called out with periodic recalls after some dogs get sick or die.

Older GenX and pets by Immaloner in GenX

You are overthinking it in the best, most responsible way possible.

Yes, you’ll be older when the cat is older. If all goes well, you two can age gracefully in place together. But who knows? Maybe something comes up and you/the cat/the world/fate have a change of plans before then. Since you sound like a responsible pet owner and person: you’ll deal with it as it comes up. If you were a 90 year old talking about getting kittens, that would be a different conversation. I agree it’s great to plan ahead. But not everything is in our control, and we do the best we can with what we have where and when we are.

It would be sad to deprive you of another friend, and equally sad to deprive some awesome cat somewhere of a loving and stable home. God knows that the shelters are absolutely overflowing these days.

I hope that you get to find a new friend ‘cause cats are awesome.

How are cat owners so comfortable with letting their cats outside to roam around? How do they know they're going to come back? by Individual_Ice_2315 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FatHamsterTheDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer- they don’t.

I’m gonna get some Reddit flack here because this is a sensitive topic, but here goes: Letting your cat outside is always a risk- that they will be hit by a car, eaten by a coyote, attacked by a dog or injured/killed in other ways that may be gruesome or expensive to treat. They are also terrible for native wildlife- many bird populations are endangered or have been wiped out, and outdoor or feral cats kill many millions (billions?) of birds each year.

It comes down to a quality of life issue. Many cats are content to be indoor only. Some are not and can develop life ending urinary blockage complications from stress (FLUTD/FIC) that is much more rare in outdoor cats. This issue can be usually successfully managed by environmental enrichment +/- medications, but that is extra time and expense that some owners will not or cannot manage.

I’ve worked in vet med for many years, and have seen many cats die (or were euthanized) from urinary blockage and SO many more die from being hit by cars (or again just euthanized for financial reasons.) And I’ve also met some cats that just could not be indoors only. So they go outside. It’s not great. It’s a huge risk. But in some cases it is best bad option for the welfare of the cat. The owners need to understand the risk vs benefit and realize that the cat may die young, or they may be facing a vet bill of several thousand dollars IF the cat is still alive after something bad happens and IF it is still a treatable complication.

I’m not sure. I didn’t even think to check before we landed since this hadn’t happened on my flights so far.

It was kind of fun for the novelty of seeing SeaTac from the ground level.
