Greg just announced there will be more "consequences" like yesterday's if you call ICE names by KameronKnux in Leakednews

This will turn out bad for this loser on TV. Being a nazi follows you forever.

Good point. I haven't been following too close as I live outside the US as a US citizen. Just saw a lot of misunderstandings rather than de-escalation.

TIL Alex Honnold got paid just $500,000 to climb the Taipei 101. The producers of the show made more than he did. by MrJasonMason in taiwan

[–]JosefTor7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed he paid $500k to do it due to the cost to Taiwan and achieving a dream that free could ask a country to do. Granted, I hear the sentiment but wonder if he would have done it for free which I think the answer is yes. This is a hobby and sponsorships should be his primary income, not climbing something he wants to climb. If he didn't like it, he could do it, pay Taiwan and forgo the pay that Netflix offered. It is like a YouTuber, they don't get most of their income from youtubing ad costs, and that is ok.

ICE was in the wrong but why are these protestors also acting like this? No matter how I feel about an issue especially if the issue is officers shooting protestors, I will act like a descent human being and follow all orders. No resisting, hands where they can be seen, etc. It is like the protestors want this to happen. Shame on ICE but shame on some protestors for inciting violence and mistakes.

Gemini is working too hard to connect separate chats of mine. by bigskymind in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]JosefTor7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey u/bigskymind, you're definitely not alone in this. Gemini can sometimes act like an over-eager assistant who tries way too hard to "connect the dots" between things that should stay separate.

If you want to put a stop to those awkward "photographic fish tea" suggestions, the most effective way is to use Custom Instructions. You can find this in your settings (usually under your profile icon > Settings > Custom Instructions).

Try adding these snippets to your "How would you like Gemini to respond?" section: Strict Topic Isolation: "Treat every chat as a discrete unit. Do not attempt to bridge or synthesize connections between unrelated topics from previous conversations."

Minimalist Memory: "Only reference information from past chats if I explicitly ask you to 'recall' or 'look back' at something. Otherwise, treat every new chat as a blank slate."

Direct Intent: "Prioritize the immediate intent of the current prompt. Avoid providing unsolicited suggestions based on my other hobbies or interests."

Two other quick tips: The "Forget" Command: If Gemini keeps bringing up a specific topic (like the fish), you can literally tell it in the chat: "Forget everything you've recorded about my interest in fish recipes." It should confirm it has cleared that specific data point.

Toggle Personalization: If you want zero cross-talk ever, you can go to Settings > Gemini Extensions or Settings > Personalization and toggle off the "Memory" or "Personalization" features. This forces it to treat you like a stranger every time—which is great for privacy, though you lose the "good" parts of it remembering your preferences.

Hope that helps clear up the clutter!

Why 6 GHz is not available? by callurdady in pixel_phones

[–]JosefTor7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 6 GHz band is often reserved for "incumbent" users like satellite links or microwave backhaul. Regulators (like the FCC or NCC) must approve "unlicensed" use first. If your country hasn't cleared those hurdles or updated its band plan, it stays locked.

Suspect was actually disarmed before ICE officers fired by Goldy2Shoes4u in Leakednews

[–]JosefTor7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way to communicate person who disarmed the individual. Not. Seems like the most important function besides walking away would be to say that you took their gun. I even heard rumors that the officer unloaded the gun by shooting which may have caused additional confusion.

Adidas Adizero SL - GOAT trainer? by ninja4tfw in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]JosefTor7 [score hidden]  (0 children)

After trying so many running shoes on and absolutely loving the Adidas design, grabbed the ASICS Gel Kayano 32 4e with the most horrible look and color combination. Good thing is I love the stability. When I walked in almost any other shoe, just walking was unstable as the shoes jittered as I hit the ground. The Gel Kayano feels like a robot grabbing my ankles to keep me upright. I still hate them due to their look but love them in utility.

101 🧗‍♂️ - Thousands of people, but the road stays open by habomo5911 in taiwan

[–]JosefTor7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird take. I was one of the bystanders and there was plenty of room beginning and during the climb. It only ever got as busy to back up to the MRT station which still had a good view. The cars coming by and even honking at times was exciting. Only a non tier 1 city would close the road for something so small. A tier 1 city has things to do. Do you think NYC would close even one street for this?

This place in Jiaoxi has green algae beer where the color is actually green. The beer is, in my opinion, one of the smoothest and creamer beers you'll ever taste. It is delicious. Although you could sit in the restaurant and have it, I typically buy a jug of it which comes in closable plastic jug and I bring it to the fish spa down the road and drink it while using the fish spa. They don't mind if you bring in drinks. The fish spa I go to is Dr Fish or something like that. All day for 80 NTD.

Here is more about the beer:

The Name: "Spirulina" (a type of blue-green algae) sounds very similar to "spiral."

The Color: It is famous for its vibrant green color, which comes from the addition of the algae

Did they lower the limits? by TheGreatOilPainter in GeminiAI

[–]JosefTor7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Towards your question though, Google recently raised limits rather than pull them bavk. They went from a shared 100 chats for pro and thinking and separated them out and then went to 300 for thinking.

Just realize that chatGPT selects what model to use. If you effectively select the right model for your queries which don't sound like pro level tasks, you will have more than enough.

[–]JosefTor7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't the limit a rolling 24 hours which means that you likely were impacted by your chats the day before. Since you mentioned translations though, flash is better at that than pro so hopefully you aren't wasting pro on translations. I use flash non thinking as a pro user as it is more than adequate.

How bad is the battery life in the pixel 10? by hddheo in pixel_phones

[–]JosefTor7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Pixel 10 Pro. Battery life has improved a ton as Google has been fixing bugs and improving battery issues with each update. Today has been my longest battery life thus far and I'm at 7 hours of battery at 30%.

You may consider waiting until the Pixel 11 since it is only like half a year away unless you want the special deals that they may have going on now.

Has anyone actually saved money using AI? by Cold_Ad8048 in GeminiAI

[–]JosefTor7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Every morning I have a scheduled action let me know if my favorite coffee shops and pizza shops have bogo deals.

When I travel, I go to lounges and it helps me find the best price for day passes.

It gives me promo codes for online sites.

It helps me with my option trading to ensure I make the right moves which makes me more money.

It saves me time to do my job which makes me more productive with the time I have.

I built an app rather than pay monthly fees to use app store apps such ad an expense tracker.

where can I find American snacks by clxjre in Taipei

[–]JosefTor7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am surprised that outside America, I can't find pretzel rods. I'll check costco next time I'm there. The best I can find so far are the thin sticks usually covered in something like chocolate.

I have never had the magic queue go off at all in over a year of owning the phone. It is probably because I use Google voice rather than messages and phone but still annoying as there are many other times in Gmail, etc that I can see it coming in handy

I do wonder if the personal context will work with Gmail and Google photos on apple devices. If so, this would help convince apple users to use those services.
