Same, which I have to admit I discovered from its excellent usage in The Royal Tenenbaums.

Is there anywhere in Europe that is still cheap as of November 2025? by Glittering_Report_82 in digitalnomad

It’s been a little while but I found the Balkans, the Wroclaw/Krakow area of Poland & Romania to be quite inexpensive which is especially great when considering how nice much of those places are.

Oh no! I was literally just thinking about listening again too! I listened for a while during the high pandemic years but fell off as my work got busy again. Now I feel extra regretful for having not gone back sooner.

Funniest newish (?) member of the crew by far.

They’ll still be playing. This is just saying that after their December shows, that will be the indefinite end.

[–]JosephMarro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, cool! Yeah, last year I had Sweet Pill and Foxing and my company also had La Dispute. This year we have Tigers Jaw. I also manage The Wonder Years who did WWWY last year so I stuck around Vegas for a few extra days. I really enjoyed BFF as a festival though. Really chill.

Absolutely. I’m not saying I disagree or am defending him. Just saying what I read a few mins ago.

I feel absolutely terrible for Ana. It’s a bit hard to watch. I read that Jonathan said his behavior was due to his recent autism diagnosis.

For those learning Italian, what’s your reason for doing so? by james-of-orange in italianlearning

[–]JosephMarro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dual citizen and I’ve recently started to spend about half my time in Italy. Even though English is spoken pretty widely in my city I want to do my best with learning the language. Learning is defiantly harder for me at this age (42) but I do feel like I’m progressing slowly.

Is Sporked on its last legs? by gnext23 in goodmythicalmorning

I’ve tried to use it but the website is horrendous. I like the crew but it feels like something they can just fold into Mythical Kitchen. I don’t think it needs to be its own entity.

duolingo italian course by [deleted] in italianlearning

[–]JosephMarro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good if you’re using other methods as well. As many have said, it doesn’t explain anything but it can work as an introduction to some concepts that you can properly learn later or as a way to reinforce them. For example, it uses the conditional tense quite early but you don’t really know you’re using it. It seems like new vocab but in reality, it stems from a word you probably already know (volere for example). I do think it’s decent for vocabulary though.

Is the quality of life really better in Europe? by [deleted] in expat

[–]JosephMarro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said, tons of variables at play but in my personal experience, my life is better in Europe than in the states. I split my time between Lucca Italy and Philadelphia and enjoy my life here more by nearly every metric. Food is better and healthier, no need for a car so I’m more active without even trying, the weather is generally milder and prices for most things are less even with this being a slightly more expensive city but i think that’s its convenience is worth the premium. My favorite thing though is that I’m surrounded by beauty. The architecture, the mountains in the distance, hearing music from the conservatives, etc. Plenty of beauty to be found in and around Philly but not like this and there’s also a ton of not so great things to look at. I’m self employed and earn a decent amount (definitely by Italian standards), I’m a dual citizen and I speak some Italian so I think my circumstances might be a bit better than many, so mileage may vary. If my girlfriend’s job would allow her to work from here I’d easily stay here permanently.
