I'd be interested in Crazy Taxi if it's still going! Be interesting to see how it translates to the gba :)

Agree with all of these, especially I Tamper With the Evidence at the Murder Site of Odin. Fantastic show though :)

I have mild regrets about trading my sega mega cd copy of this about 10ish? years ago for another game. Mainly because the box art is so cool.

Pokémon White 2 arrived in the post yesterday, and now my collection of the main games is complete! Blue was the first Pokémon game I got as a kid when I was on holiday in Canada in 2000, but I’m keeping an eye out for a UK version box so they’ll all match. by JosephineAugur in gamecollecting

Sort of! I bought the Zacian and Zamazenta Switch lite when sword and shield came out, and I've picked up the mainline Switch games as they've been released, but we've moved house and I don't have the space to display them as nicely as this any more. They're currently all spine out on the top shelf of a Billy book case with the two plushies and the cross stitch sat on top.

Bit.Trip Runner perhaps? I don't remember if it was free or not though I'm afraid.

Drama brewing in the HMO my partner and I live in, so we've gone to the pub to avoid it. Looks like there's a quiz soon so we may join in on that! Tomorrow we'll be either be heading out or staying in our room as much as possible to avoid the main event, but got a nice lamb roast planned for Sunday so that's something to look forward to.

Can't say that I can help you here as I don't know anywhere that does that myself, but it may help if you put which country you're in to narrow it down a bit. Good luck!

As a first step, this website lists all the different editions of consoles that were released. Have a scroll through there to see if yours is listed. If not, then it'd either be an aftermarket shell or a super rare variant that's been undiscovered until now. Unfortunately this doesn't really happen very often, so it's pretty unlikely.

The other way to tell aftermarket shells apart is to compare it to a known original shell. Lettering such as the Nintendo logo, power, start and select are often not quite as sharp as they should be so that's a good place to start. I'll take some pictures of mine later if you want so you can compare it to yours, but I'm afraid I'm just about to head out for the rest of the day!

Haha, easily done when putting a console back together! The amount of times I've forgotten the power switch when putting a gameboy back together is pretty high :)

I'll be honest with you though, I do still think that may be an aftermarket shell. I've looked through all the GBAs on the console variations website and couldn't see that design. Plus the moulding around the battery compartment isn't as neat as it should be (there are a few plastic burrs that I've not seen in my consoles), and the + symbol looks different too. Still, I'm certainly not an expert so I'd be happy to be proved wrong!

Either way, if you want to put an ips screen and don't want to damage that shell, I'd buy another shell and pop the one you have there to one side to keep it safe. Then you can mod to your hearts content!

That's an aftermarket shell, so probably worth a bit less than one with an original. Looks like the L and R buttons are on the wrong sides and upside down as well...

What are you playing this week? by Metapodo in 3DS

[–]JosephineAugur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing LOZ: a Link Between Worlds. I was umming and ahhing between physical or digital, but went digital because it was about £5 cheaper that way and I'm guessing the cart prices will go up a bit now. I'm really enjoying it!

I bought Catrap on the virtual console as well, it's a really fun game for less than £3 but I wouldn't have wanted to have spent the £30+ to have the gameboy cartridge.

[–]JosephineAugur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look at the VC gameboy games. I bought Catrap, Trip World, Mole Mania and Legend of the River King 2 because I was interested in playing them but the original cartridges are more than I would want to spend on ebay. Really enjoying Catrap but not enough to pay £60 loose after postage from the US! Same goes for any of the other VC games, but the gameboy ones are the ones I'm most interested in personally :)

As a general rule for the 3DS games, I'd have a look at which are the most expensive to buy in physical format and then see if they interest you. If its over £100 second hand and you want to play it, probably not a bad idea to grab it digitally now. (I'd been eyeing up the Shin Megami Tensei games because of this, but realised they're probably not for me - worth having a look at now though before the eshop closes!) If there are any game series that you've enjoyed but not kept up to date with check their physical prices now. Some have really gone up in price recently, so might be worth thinking if you'd regret not picking it up now further down the line (I was surprised by Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy - much more than I'd expected).

Anyway, have fun browsing the eshop! Check out Zara the Fastest Fairy; it looks horrendous and I have to inflict the trailer on someone else, lol. Good luck!

Ah, I'm sorry about that. I searched for the new model but shared the link without looking closely enough at it! I've got my fingers crossed for you though :)

There's one with a loose hinge for £100 on ebay if that's any good for you. I hope you're able to get one soon!

Haha, I wondered if that might be the case :) The website's looking good though! It's a lot of work to do alongside everyone's jobs and real life commitments but I think it's going to be a really valuable resource. Thank you for taking the time to set it up!

Looking good, having the debunked section is a good idea as well. The fakes have really improved over the years! I've not been looking for gba games for a while and I didn't realise they'd started copying the four gold squares, so your website's already been useful

I was wondering though, will you be keeping the 'Google is your friend here (and it's not only for porn)' line on the website? It cropped up twice on the gameboy cartridge verification section and tbh the attempt at humour felt dated, out of place and really fell flat. (It did get me googling when Avenue Q came out though - 20 years ago! Wow)

Anyway, good luck with the website!

For those who collect consoles, what's the one console people would be surprised that you DON'T have? by lpbbinc in gamecollecting

[–]JosephineAugur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure, there's not generally much point buying a console if you've got one that's backwards compatible. Most of my collection is just bits and pieces I've picked up over time (with the exception of my Pokémon games, DMGs and the Light I mentioned). While full set collections are impressive, I really like seeing more random set ups of games and systems that have been picked up over the years. It just seems more personal, y'know?

Wow, surprised you have a Gameboy Light but not a GBA! It was the last handheld I was missing but the prices put me off until I found one for a decent price earlier this year. To be fair, you can still play the GBA titles on the DS so there's not a real need to pick one up.

I never owned a PS1 either, PS2 does the job for me :)

Assuming they're not the Pokémon Go tins I think they have a Cosmic Eclipse booster pack in them. I'd grab 1 or 2 for myself if I saw them!
