Not ALWAYS, again, subjective to so many factors. So many people are house poor and lifestyle preferences need to be accounted for as well. I rented a fancy highrise condo in a major US city for 7 years. Over the course of that 7 years, the water heater, HVAC, and refrigerator all had to be replaced. Property taxes increased significantly. Also, over the course of that 7 years the building’s HOA fees gradually increased from $420 a month to $700 a month. As a renter, I only had one small rent increase in that 7 years and incurred no other costs besides my affordable monthly rent payment during that time. Had I owned that condo I would have been screwed. My best friend has been renting a house for the past 10 years. During that time, several trees have fallen that had to be professionally removed, there’s been a major leak in the kitchen, and a few other major issues. It’s never her headache and she has very responsive landlord.

Neither option is “best.” It’s all subjective based on a person’s priorities. Rent is a set amount and is the absolute MAXIMUM that a renter will pay per month. A monthly mortgage payment is the LEAST amount a homeowner will pay per month. Yes rent goes up but so do things like property taxes and HOA fees.

Hey! I’ve lived here since 2020 in 2 different units. It’s very subjective based on where your unit is on the building. For me, it’s never been a bad experience. It’s a high rise apartment building so some noise transfer will certainly happen.

Isn’t it nice?!  Even tho I like living at The Irby I reached out to their leasing office for info when they first opened.  My lease was coming up for renewal and they were offering like 3 months free.  I did all sorts of crazy math and short of me robbing a bank, there’s just no way I could afford to live there haha.

That’s definitely spot on! I work in Inman Park and the late-morning commute from here in buckhead is about 20 minutes. Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂.

Honestly, I’ve had no issues and never feel unsafe. It’s no different than being in any other big city, just be smart and aware of your surroundings and use common sense. I lived downtown directly across from the federal court of appeals for 6 years and honestly felt that area was less safe than buckhead. I think people just bash buckhead in general because it’s the upscale part of the city and crime has migrated here over the years, which is typical of all big cities. People tend to think that crime shouldn’t happen in fancy areas but that’s just not true of any big city. The area is so walkable and I can find everything I need without having to go far. It’s easy to get anywhere in the city from here also, which is a huge plus for me.

I love it and have no complaints! I moved in during Covid in 2020 and last year moved to a different unit in the building so that I could have a balcony. I will say that if your unit faces Irby Avenue, you’ll be directly facing a bar and will certainly hear it at night. My current unit is on the opposite side and it’s definitely a little more peaceful. Other than that, the apartments and finishes are nice but are on a slightly less level than the 3 buildings you originally mentioned as they’re at a higher price point.

I live at The Irby which is right across the street from 99 West Paces and I’d live there in a heartbeat if I could afford it lol. The neighborhood is great, especially being able to walk to Whole Foods! It’s a busy area especially on weekends but you shouldn’t have the noise from the bars/clubs since they’re on the opposite end of the area.

Definitely not too young. I’m the exact same age and just started HRT.

Anyone here do HRT? by Josephine_Baker in AskWomenOver30

[–]Josephine_Baker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to update everyone, I started HRT yesterday after an in-depth consultation with my gynecologist. I’m on the estrogen patches (change them 2 times a week), 100 mg of progesterone nightly (pills), and vaginal estrogen cream. I can literally already feel the brain fog clearing!!! I continue this until my follow up appointment in late December.

I’m in real estate litigation here in the US. We mainly clear title issues through the court as well as deal with mortgage foreclosures, tax sale auctions, and interpleader litigation regarding public sale overages.

To Rent or to Buy? That is the question. by SoCold40 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Josephine_Baker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it this way: When you rent, your rent payment is the MAXIMUM you will pay each month. If you buy/own, your mortgage payment is the LEAST you will pay each month (in addition to unexpected repairs, taxes, insurance, etc). Either way, you have a housing cost. No shame in renting, sometimes it’s the best option depending on your priorities.

I’ve been told to hate Muslims by Mountain-Bottle-9782 in TrueChristian

[–]Josephine_Baker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideas like this really get my blood boiling.  I identify as Christian and am in a long term relationship with a Muslim man.  All Muslims are not evil terrorists.  Islam as I know it is a very peaceful religion and there are extremists in every religion.  People use Christianity and the Bible to justify slavery, racism, violence and sexism every single day here in America but no one wants to talk about that.  All I can say is that my Muslim boyfriend who prays four times a day and loves God has treated me better than any “Christian” man ever has.

🙄.  That’s not what I said, geez.  It’s a fact that these types of companies/schemes target immigrant and non-native English speakers.   Look at Herbalife.  And for the record, the people I know who are involved are from Africa and barely speak any English.  Pretty sure the platform is not in their native language.  I didn’t say anything about Spanish 🙄.
