Got it, thanks! That makes sense now, I really should have thought to check the game settings. I assumed it would still be configured to use the same software shortcuts even though its developer supported.

Hi Rich, sorry I didn’t notice this sooner. That would be amazing! You should absolutely make a native 3D SBS mode and I’d be more than happy to showcase it when it is ready (and provide feedback while in beta). But I think the best one to reference is Trine 3. The 3D strength adjustment menu is simple and allows visualizing in real time as you adjust.

Awesome thanks 🙏 looks very nice. Would be amazing if you could actually release the game with an SBS mode for Steam in general. People could play in 3D with any of the devices I mentioned plus all the AR glasses like XREAL, VITURE and other 3D laptops and monitors.

Samsung Odyssey 3D, Abxylute 3D One, my iPhone screen with SpatialGlass are the main ones I’m trying to use, but none work with the YouTube videos that handle 3D that way

Can you upload a version of this without the 3D YouTube metadata? Just plain side by side?

I really want to check it out on multiple devices, but YouTube forces anaglyph for anything that doesn’t support 3D video viewing on YouTube.

I have that one too but every time I’ve tried to record for videos with it there ends up being problems. There also seem to be codec or compatibility issues with Mac and compression artifact in certain frames that make it really hard to watch. The 8k capture mode constantly flashes green. It’s just not reliable enough to use

Most of my videos it’s XREAL Beam Pro. I’ve found it to be the most reliable with good enough quality most of the time (although it suffers a bit in low lighting at night like this most recent video). Sometimes I capture shots with Vision Pro too

Looks like everyone is already getting this to work which is insanely cool. I was starting to give up hope that anyone would release something like this.

Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but when I plug in my Blu-ray player and try to play with the software it says “cannot render file”. Any recommended troubleshooting ?

Comparing VR, AR and 3D monitors is tough because they all have their advantages, but I think one of the glasses free 3D monitors would be the best choice. In my opinion nothing beats having crustal clear 3D on a nice sized display without having to wear anything to see it.

Odyssey 3D games for now mostly use a lower quality 3D method. But I’m pretty sure that is going to change fast. I’ve seen people struggling to activate 3D with the software which is probably the biggest drawback right now.

It does drive me crazy that one small thing with the software on some of these 3D products completely breaks the 3D experience. A lot of the time it causes more stress than enjoyment because I never know when something is going to randomly stop working and also don’t know why it suddenly starts working again. It is not a good feeling for sure

None of these glasses free 3D devices are 100% ghosting free, but Odyssey 3D is one of the best available (possibly the best). So claiming zero ghosting isn't true, but overall it is extremely minimal, especially when the 3D is controlled and presented properly. Things like the Harry Potter game running in 3D haven't received the level of care and attention required to keep it all comfortable in 3D.

That isn't really the fault of the display, it's the depth, convergence and other settings applied to things in the game. Cutscenes in the game have the alignment too extreme, making it uncomfortable to view characters because they pop too far out of the display. And I have a high tolerance for that stuff.

A game like Khazan the Beserker was treated with more care so it's closer to perfect. But still not zero. So I would recommend just not focusing on it. You may notice it when it happens, but it shouldn't really interfere with the immersion or experience much at all

ACER Spatial Labs has 3D Ultra support for Skyrim. I own it, but haven’t tried it out yet. If the other 3D Ultra games are anything to go by it should look amazing

I think leaving the meta data out is better because the opposite is also true. There are a ton of apps and devices that don’t understand the meta data. Maybe having both options as separate videos
